"I'm a student who's interested in helping older people. I visited here in order to get a better idea of how an assisted living facility operates. The place was well run, clean and the people living there seemed happy and well cared for. The people living at the facility seemed celebrated rather than packed away from the world, which made me happy. The staff was patient and kind which was refreshing and utterly fantastic beyond all words. The rooms look well appointed and clean. The most important thing is that Springhouse didn't feel sad. Often, Assisted-living facilities has this overwhelming sense of dread to them but at Springhouse, you never felt that feeling at all. All in all, the place felt warm and both the people living at the facility and the people working at the facility seemed at peace, which is a wonderful thing for an assisted-living facility to feel like. "

"I toured Abrams Assisted Living. It's a very nice place, but it's just not for me. It was very clean. The staff seemed very friendly. Everyone spoke. I did get to meet somebody, the workers there, the nurses, and things like that. They showed the dining area and the laundry. They showed me the room. They had a microwave and stuff in rooms, but you go to the dining room for a meal. They get breakfast, lunch, and dinner, then you get snacks in between. It was that lovely place. I didn't see the food, but the cafeteria was very nice, very clean, and the setup was something that seemed very easy. They have beautiful gardens. Mark was telling me that they were going to expand some things and make a bigger garden. They had a veteran's building there, too. They were doing stuff just to improve the whole facility. They do have a couple of activity rooms. They have TV there, and people are doing arts and crafts. You could do your own laundry or they do it for you."

"Bartholomew House is a very loving, caring, comfortable, and intimate place because it is small. It is a little bit more like a larger home, and it smells very clean. The food is good, and it has a great caring staff. They really feel that it is more than their job, and they put their heart and soul into the residents. It doesn't have the extra amenities that some people might like, but they are extra caring with the residents which is the most important thing to me. The staff just goes above and beyond what you would expect. They communicate with me, and they reach out to me. They take the lead in my dad's care very proactively. You would not have to worry about your loved one there. "

"I have had a good friend who has had her mother at Great Oaks for a number of years and they have been very pleased with the care and the fact that Sibley Hospital is right next door. Her mother was suffering from dementia as well as some physical ailments and she felt she was well looked after. It is an attractive faciltiy from the public areas including the dining room to the individual apartments. "

"Modena Reserve at Kensington was a nice place. When I first stepped in (being that it's two years old), it was more of a contemporary place, which is fine for some people, but I don't feel as comfortable in that kind of setting. I don't have anything against it. It's not a bad entranceway, it's just more modern. I think they still had some work they wanted to do on it when I went. So, that's another thing. The staff were very nice and very friendly. I didn't get a big listing of all the activities that they have there, but they have activities. I just didn't go into details about that, but they told me they have social hours, cooking demos, some outings, and card games. They're about like the rest of the places. They feature all that. They're in the heart of Kensington. So, they're right by the railroad station and an antique village there."

"The staff was wonderful. She was delightful. We met several other staff members including a handyman and a nurse. They were great. I can't speak highly enough about the staff. We only saw one floor plan, which was very small. It was a studio. We were told that there were only four units that were larger, but they're almost never available. The other negative for me was the location. It was right off 270, so any outside activities are minimal; there's a lot of road noise. Even though we loved the people there, we decided we were not going to consider them. I didn't like the floor plans of the unit or the location of the facility."

"My mother has lived at Fox Hill for several years. It has been a wonderful environment for her. The staff is terrific. The caregivers are excellent and very kind. There is a nice variety of activities taking place all the time. She is very happy there."

"My father has moved into Care Personnel Healthcare Inc. His room is extremely clean and cozy. I don't know the specific activities that they have right now. It is kind of cold outside, so he can't really go outside right now. They have games that are there, if he wishes to play them. The staff is excellent and very caring. I have been there every day since my father has been there, and it is absolutely spotless. He came from rehab, where he wasn't eating at all. The staff is getting him to eat a little bit more. Right now, he is really only taking oatmeal and soup, which is an improvement over what it was. I'm not sure if he has tried solid food yet, but they are very encouraging about getting him to eat. During the nicer weather, they have things outside, but he can't do that now."

"Apple Blossoms is the place where you want to place your precious loved one if they need a quiet environment with exquisitely attentive care. The patient, experienced nurses and the director provide individualized attention for each of the residents. There are homemade meals provided three times a day, with two snacks. Also, the director provides tailored additions, reflecting some of the resident’s preferences. Having the security of one’s own room within a pleasant house on a quiet street made the transition much easier for my beloved mother, helping her to end her days in that loving environment. Apple Blossoms places its emphasis on relationships, not fancy rooms. It is watchful for anything that might affect their health or comfort. "We already found a facility for my uncle. It is an Emeritus facility. The facility is pretty good. It is reasonable in price. One very important thing is that it is very close to us, so we can visit him more often. He has a one-bedroom "partnership" apartment that he shares with another gentleman. It has a kitchenette and a bathroom, but each reisdent has his own separate bedroom. It is like a small apartment some shared space. He has facilities in the center to read and all those things. "
