Over the last 15 months, this place has gone through three different administrations. Sadly, instead of things getting better, it feels like it keeps getting worse every time there’s new leadership. I do want to say that the regular staff who have been there a long time really do try and they care. The problem is there just aren’t enough of them. They rely a lot on agency nurses, and when you constantly have different people on the floor who don’t really know the residents, the care just isn’t consistent. The food has also been disappointing. It’s often cold, usually served on Styrofoam trays, and sometimes with plastic utensils. Someone connected to the kitchen once made a comment about how little they spend per resident on meals 3 meals a day (3.45)— I can’t confirm that number, but the quality speaks for itself. One of the hardest parts has been dealing with administration. Concerns often feel taken personally rather than handled professionally. Instead of feeling like issues are addressed as part of running a business, interactions can feel defensive and uncomfortable for both families and staff. That creates tension instead of solutions. Administration is rarely visible on the floors during normal days. But when the state or the ombudsman shows up, leadership suddenly becomes much more present and involved. It shouldn’t take an inspection for that to happen. There have been many deficiencies over the past year, and that’s something families should seriously review before making a decision. It’s difficult to feel confident when there is constant turnover and ongoing concerns.
