Brookdale Carmel has been fantastic. Everyone seems to care, and they don't just let the people wander around and do nothing all day. They interact with them and it's amazing. The staff has been fantastic and very willing to talk to me when I call and ask about my husband. They interact with my husband and for the first time I've seen him smiling, laughing, and acting happy. It's accessible to restaurants and all kinds of things. They have activities and they shared some yesterday. They were singing, and my husband enjoyed every bit of it. Money wise, it was not cheap, and I couldn't have afforded it if I have no long-term healthcare.

We toured Brookdale Carmel. It was excellent, beautiful, it was well thought out, as was the facility itself. I thought it was great, but the only thing is I don't see a lot of interaction with the residents as a lot of them are in very, very sad shape. My mom needs somebody who can carry a conversation and get involved. So, there's not a lot of interaction between the patients, but that's the only thing. It'd be great for somebody with severe memory problems or cognitive disabilities. It would be excellent for them. The staff was very nice, very attentive, and busy. They're engaged with the residents. Everything there was excellent that I could see. It just wasn't right for my mom. They have beautiful views, and lots of places to sit and enjoy the outdoors, just the way it's laid out. It's a round, circular type hallway, so the residents don't reach a dead end and get confused. It's just thought out very nicely.

We took a tour of Brookdale Carmel. The people that showed me around were nice, they seemed to be very knowledgeable and caring. The patients seemed to be taken care of. We didn't see a lot of activities happening or anything, but it was the weekend, so that might be why. We saw the activity room and then we saw an empty resident's room, and it was a nice room. We saw the hallway, we saw the areas where they eat, and we saw a little outpost. We saw one whole level of the area.

My father has moved into Brookdale Carmel. It's has only been three weeks since he moved in, so it has been awkward for us because of Covid. Covid has been running with very restrictive visiting and my father doesn't understand because it's like he's in jail. It would have happened no matter where we picked; everybody is restricting visitations. So that's what we're up against right now. My siblings are frustrated because they have problems seeing him. My father is also frustrated because visits are 30 minutes only, in and out, and across a glass screen, so you can't hug or touch, and that's it. I have seen his room through the window. He is on the ground floor. They took me around and I was able to look through the window, but we were not allowed in because of Covid. No families are allowed in. His room looks fine. They did a great job of accommodating us. We brought his furniture and with a floor plan, we showed them how we wanted it made. They did it the way I had it designed, and it's exactly like I wanted. I would say all of that is good. He seems to like his room. I haven't heard him complain about the room. My father is eating well, too. He looks good when I see him. It seems like he has put on some weight maybe even a little bit, and I would say all of that is good. Before he was there and at home, he depended on my mom for cooking. My mom passed five or six years ago, and so my dad has lived on Ensure for like five years because he doesn't cook. They also have activities.

Brookdale Carmel was quite nice, but I don't like the location, and it was quite expensive. It felt comfortable there. They had different things going on. The staff we worked with was very nice and very good. The amenities were pretty standard. They had a movie area, a puzzle room, and an activity area. The room we saw was adequate, and it had everything I needed.

I visited Brookdale Carmel. I liked their layout but it did not seem homey because they're not as new as the other places I went to. The rooms were very small. The layout though was in a circular plan and I kind of liked that aspect of it. They also have little community rooms. The person who assisted me during the tour was fine, inviting, and I didn't have any qualms with her. The dining room was a fairly open area. The person who assisted me was fine; she was inviting. I wasn't impressed one way or the other.

The caregivers are over worked and under paid . The management is awful. They are only concerned about filling beds for $$ Stay away, you'll be sorry if you place your loved one in this expensive dump

Brookdale Carmel is in a great location. It is 15 years old but looks brand new to me. The rooms vary in size. My parents are in a large room with a nice bathroom, a regular closet, a little sitting area, and a really large bedroom. There are plenty of activities. My biggest problem had been trying to find a place that had activities for my father to do; most of these places seemed geared more toward women. The first day that my dad was there, they had a thing going on, and he was down there participating That was huge for me and really nice to see. I would recommend this community in a heartbeat.

The setup of Clare Bridge neighbourhood is very ideal. The rooms are on the small side, but my mom is quite advanced, so the small size of the room doesn’t matter. She has to share the room, but they do have private rooms. The staff is very friendly and very good. The food is very good. They tailor the food to the residents’ needs. The care she is getter is much better than at the other facility she was in.

We have my mother-in-law in an ALF at Clare Bridge. We did some searching and found some alternatives for her, but we found that others only match the price, the care, and the treatment that she already have at Clare Bridge, so we decided not to move her. The facility was built for Alzheimer's care and we have always been very happy with the treatment my mother-in-law receives from them. We're happy with the care, the food and the room that she is in. However, the price was getting out of hand. Then they went from an a la carte system to all inclusive and that allows us to keep her there. Food is good. The staff has always been fine. My mother-in-law is in a later stage of Alzheimer's, so activities are very limited at this point. However, nightly they have something going on and then on special events, they always bring in musicians, magicians, all kinds of things. They're really patient-oriented. In fact, what I like best about this facility is their patient care.

I was thrilled to find ClareBridge of Carmel. It was dedicated solely for Dementia or Alzheimer’s. It was built like a home with a central courtyard, more like little neighborhoods instead of a long wing like a traditional healthcare center. Each little neighborhood has its own dining room, living room and some bedrooms. They have a little atrium with birds in it and they change it every month. There is the courtyard where patients could go outside and walk around without any fear of wandering off or getting lost. It felt like they have a little more freedom. The longevity of the staff really impressed me. The staff are very passionate about their chosen vocation. Many of them went out of their way to tell me they have worked for ClareBridge of Carmel for 14 to 15 years. There is also a director for the many social activities. I would recommend this facility in a heartbeat.

Clare Bridge of Carmel dealt with Alzheimer's and dementia patients and that was what I looked for. I liked the care from the caregivers who worked there, I thought that they were excellent. They had nice sizes for the rooms and everybody had a private room. You could bring your own furnitue or they provided for you. I would suggest they serve better food.

I had heard good things about Clare Bridge and it's very close to my house so I visited it. It has a very homelike and happy atmosphere. The facility itself was very nice and the rooms were nice. The patients were all happy, like they were well taken care of. The employees were very gracious and accommodating. I thought it was a wonderful place.

My mother resided at Clare Bridge from October 2010 - April 2012. There is virtually no staff turnover, and all the staff we interacted with were very caring and showed unbelievable patience with the residents. The facility has endless activities geared to the physical & cognitive abilities of the residents, and staff works very hard to get residents out of their rooms and interacting with the other residents & staff. Even the office staff is great with the residents; my mother loved to "help" in the office. The facility has a couple of cats, a dog, fish, and birds. It looks like a big Victorian house, and the resident rooms are arranged in neighborhoods of 8 rooms, each with its own living area & dining room. The neighborhoods are arranged in a circle around an outdoor garden with windows looking onto the garden to let in lots of natural light. This is great for those residents who like to walk; they can walk the circle for as long as they like. Their are various activity stations around the circle where they can stop to fiddle with objects that replicate a life activity they might recall (nursery, office, dressing table, etc). For anyone with nightmare pictures of what a nursing home looks like, this is NOT it; it's more like 3 or 4 star resort. But I have to come back to the staff, because they are fantastic. They are so patient and gentle, and very clearly love working with the residents to make their remaining days as pleasant as possible. When it became clear that my mother was in her last days, the support for the family was equally good. We were encouraged to stay in my mother's room if we wanted, and they were very respectful of both her comfort and our privacy. If you have a parent or spouse with Alzheimer's, I cannot recommend Clare Bridge of Carmel highly enough. My family has not regretted placing my mother there for a moment, and I would not hesitate to place anyone I care for (including myself) in Clare Bridge should the necessity arise.
