"I was impressed by Autumn Wind Assisted Living Mineola. It was a very nice facility. I didn't find anything that I didn't like about it. Everything that was presented to me was impressive. It was clean and very nice on the inside. All the residents seemed to be happy. I didn't see anybody sitting over by themselves and not doing anything. They were actually in the dining area, getting ready to eat lunch, but they had activities going on before lunch. The rooms were nice. I didn't have any complaints. I was also impressed by the rooms. It was someplace I would like to retire, to be honest. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. You asked any kind of questions, they were able to answer them without any hesitation. They gave me a full tour of the place and didn't hold anything back. So, they were great. The structure of the building is very presentable. When you come into the foyer, it is very nice. There's a chandelier hanging in there when you come in. It didn't smell like urine or any of that type of stuff. It had a really good clean air smell to it. I didn't have any faults with them at all. I would have been happy for my mother to stay there. The rooms were decent size. You can bring your own bed, dresser, couch, and TV in there. There was a microwave in the room and the bathrooms were very big for them to get into."

"I have my own apartment in Lakeview Senior. It is cheaper. I have a provider that comes and cleans it for me. It's got all appliances in the kitchen. They have a maintenance man. If I need something I just call. We have an exercise room, a swimming pool, a beauty salon. I thought it was reasonably priced. It's one of the reasons why I live here. "

"I was at Garden Estates of Tyler during meal time and I really liked that they had a sit down dining and not a cafeteria style. They had a couple of choices that they could choose from. They would get a menu and they would order from that menu. So, I liked that restaurant style rather than the buffet, but the variety didn't seem to be as big. It seemed like they had just had a rotation. The facility was more modern because they have just recently updated, gone through, painted, and modernized. So, in that sense, it was all polished up and very clean. It has a lot of windows, but it just didn't seem to have the natural light that the other facility I went to. There's an area that you walk in that has a beautiful grand staircase. It feels very formal and that makes it really, really pretty and just how everything is white and fresh. Everyone was wonderful. I met several of the staff, even the maintenance guy. I chose different times of the day to see how things were on the ones that I visited and got serious about, and the maintenance guy was there, and he gave me a tour. It's totally not his capacity, but everybody was just hands on and ready to show you around and be very helpful."

"I really like Primrose Retirement Community of Tyler. It was really nice. However, it's a lot more than what it was at the other place. I almost put in a deposit for it because it is so nice. They have cottages. They're very up to date. They have high ceilings, and they have a sunroom. They have a big place where if you want to have something with your family, like Thanksgiving, you could have it there. They have two bedrooms and two baths. They were really nice and really clean. They gave us a cake or something, and it was good. I loved it. It would have been my first choice until I went to the other one. The people were excellent. They were wonderful. They have a lot of people doing things. They have a lot of staff. We have a cat, and they said we could bring the cat."

"Legends of Lindale only has independent living and no other levels of care. They have separate or stand-alone cottages, and it's like going down a little street in a small community. They are two-bedroom cottages with attached garages. They support the community to come up with different activities, so the residents can decide what they want to do. They have a walking group and there's a calendar that they put out. They had a big rec hall where the residents come in and it's like a neighborhood party. They have a community building or a clubhouse where you can go and do your potlucks or whatever you want to do. They also have transportation. When we just walked through the place, the residents said that when they propose something the community provides supplies or allocates money toward it. So everything is planned by the residents themselves. If they want to take a trip and enough people have signed up, they pool the money and take over, ordering a bus and planning all of it."
