"I toured The Gables Assisted Living. It was very clean, neat, and well-kept. I liked it. The staff was very nice and personable. I had a little dizzy spell and didn't have my walker with me, so they got a walker for me so I could finish the tour. She showed me the dining room and said it was for breakfast, lunch, and dinner."

"I liked everything about Brookdale Waterview Court. It was superb. It has a unit that's downstairs that does have a washer and dryer hookup. I'm still considering it, but I would rather be on the side of town than I am because of my children. That's the only thing that's holding me up on that one. It's a very good location for Shreveport, absolutely, but not for me. The staff was all kind and very helpful. It's very clean, really and truly exactly what I'm looking for. They invited me and I didn't stay for the meal, but the residents that I talked with said it's superb."

"My husband and I moved to Holiday Summerfield Estates at a good time in our lives. The staff is thoughtful, helpful and friendly. The chefs prepare a delicious variety of meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. If you want something other than the feature meal, there are three other options.. We enjoy our new home, we don’t have any of the maintenance, issues or utility bills that we had at the house. It is peaceful here at Holiday Summerfield Estates."

"Our tour of The Glen Stiles Apartments was conducted very professionally, and they showed us what they had to offer. The staff was very accommodating. We looked at a 1-bedroom apartment because my wife wanted to be able to cook. We liked everything that we saw."

"Redbrook at The Glen was very nice and we liked it. But some of the meal plans were just too fancy for my brother-in-law, and they only change the menu once every 6 months or so. There were different areas where people eat for lunch and supper. The independent living part was all in one big building. What we liked about it was that it was not as big and sprawling as the other ones. Everything was in one building. The facility was very, very nice. There were a lot of areas that had little fireplaces where you could just sit, read, and be very comfortable. In the apartment, the kitchen and the living room were all kind of one big room. There was just a little counter island that separated the kitchen from the living room. It had an extra bedroom, like a small room that could be used for an office. There was also a stackable washer and dryer in the small utility room. Tammy was the person that showed us around, and she was just as nice as she could be. She was very willing to listen to our concerns."

"My first choice is The Oaks of Louisiana. The facilities are very nice. The grounds are beautiful. Even though it's a large facility, everything is kind of close to the central areas. In some of the other places, there are very long walks like the dining halls and meeting rooms. But this was kind of very centralized and not much walking and that's one of the things I liked about it. The activities that they do there are pretty much the same as all the other three assisted living centers. The upkeep of the place was impeccable and immaculate. The overall appearance is very pretty."

"We toured the Bloom at Bossier's assisted living. The place was in Bossier and that's probably the only drawback because my friend's people are in Shreveport. When we went there, they were having activities for the seniors. They say that they take them to their doctor's appointments, too. They had amenities in there, like a barbershop. The staff was very friendly and very helpful."

"My father is in Pilgrim Manor. We chose it because I had a friend's mom that had been there for about 13 years, and she's been pleased. It's close to my house. The staff that I've dealt with has been so good to my father. I met with them and had a meeting. He's in rehab and he's going to be there long term as well. They want to improve on anything that needs to be improved on, so that's always a plus with me. He's in the long-term wing now. Night shift sometimes keeps it from being perfect. There are some issues on the night, and there's not a whole lot of communication with the night then the day shift. He eats well and has a good appetite, and I can't complain about that either. They have activities, but he can't always participate in that. He's got dementia real bad, but they have a petting zoo, and he got to go do that outside. The facility is very nice and they're fixing to improve on that. They're fixing to redo it all over."
