"I toured The Gables Assisted Living. It was very clean, neat, and well-kept. I liked it. The staff was very nice and personable. I had a little dizzy spell and didn't have my walker with me, so they got a walker for me so I could finish the tour. She showed me the dining room and said it was for breakfast, lunch, and dinner."

"I liked everything about Brookdale Waterview Court. It was superb. It has a unit that's downstairs that does have a washer and dryer hookup. I'm still considering it, but I would rather be on the side of town than I am because of my children. That's the only thing that's holding me up on that one. It's a very good location for Shreveport, absolutely, but not for me. The staff was all kind and very helpful. It's very clean, really and truly exactly what I'm looking for. They invited me and I didn't stay for the meal, but the residents that I talked with said it's superb."

"I like the people and the staff at Holiday Summerfield Estates. The price was really good, too. That's another thing I liked there. The place was pretty nice, but their apartments are all upstairs. I do like the fact that they have balconies outside. They don't have a full kitchen, though, and I still do stuff like make a cake or fix some food in my house. This place has a kitchenette with a refrigerator and a sink. I think they serve three meals a day. You could also go down and get your food to go, if you like. If you want it delivered to your room, I think that's an added charge, which I can understand. The staff members were very informative and very nice."

"I moved to Cedar Hills in February of 2016, I love my little efficiency apartment, it is quiet and peaceful. I didn't have transportation to the grocery store when I first moved here. The apartment has a van that goes every Monday to local stores. I was thrilled at the friendly residents, the helpful staff and the many activities they provided here. I love the grounds around the building, there are flowers, roses gardens, flowering trees and many places to sit and read outdoors or just walk beneath the beautiful tall old trees. I am so glad I chose Cedar Hill as my new home, here in Shreveport, LA. "

"Redbrook at The Glen was very nice and we liked it. But some of the meal plans were just too fancy for my brother-in-law, and they only change the menu once every 6 months or so. There were different areas where people eat for lunch and supper. The independent living part was all in one big building. What we liked about it was that it was not as big and sprawling as the other ones. Everything was in one building. The facility was very, very nice. There were a lot of areas that had little fireplaces where you could just sit, read, and be very comfortable. In the apartment, the kitchen and the living room were all kind of one big room. There was just a little counter island that separated the kitchen from the living room. It had an extra bedroom, like a small room that could be used for an office. There was also a stackable washer and dryer in the small utility room. Tammy was the person that showed us around, and she was just as nice as she could be. She was very willing to listen to our concerns."

"My first choice is The Oaks of Louisiana. The facilities are very nice. The grounds are beautiful. Even though it's a large facility, everything is kind of close to the central areas. In some of the other places, there are very long walks like the dining halls and meeting rooms. But this was kind of very centralized and not much walking and that's one of the things I liked about it. The activities that they do there are pretty much the same as all the other three assisted living centers. The upkeep of the place was impeccable and immaculate. The overall appearance is very pretty."

"I'm leaning more towards Bloom at Bossier in Bowser. I toured their independent living community, and the person who gave the tour was really nice. They have first-floor apartments and a patio outside. It's just a little bit more expensive, but it has a full kitchen in it, too. I like that place a lot. I can sit out on the balcony and look at the garden. All of their apartments aren't on the first floor, of course, so you have to get on a list to get the first-floor ones. The main reason that I'm leaning towards it is because of the full kitchen. The rest of the facilities we looked at don't have that. They don't have covered parking for your car. That's one thing that I also care about because that means if it hails, you could get hail damage. They do allow pets, and it was a real surprise to me. I thought I was going to have to let my granddaughter take my pet, but they let you have them there. As far as I know, they also provide three meals a day. Not that I eat three meals a day, but they're there if I want them."
