"Havenwood of Richfield has proven to be a wonderful home for our mother. We visited many facilities before deciding to move mom here. The building is very nice as are the rooms and the food was very good also. The real standout advantage of Havenwood of Richfield, however, is its unbelievable staff, starting with Tammy at the front desk, who is always so helpful. The executive leadership team led by Michelle has been amazing. This includes Christine in marketing, Amber in the business office and Ryan in custodial. Even the cleaning staff, especially Dolores, went above and beyond to meet mom‘s needs. Most importantly, given mom’s memory care needs in the last few years, has been the exceptional nursing staff, including Michelle, Olivia, Maggie, and all the incredible CNAs who provided our mother with such loving care on a daily basis. They truly connected with her. We are so grateful for Donna, Kirsten and Gretchen for providing activities that were enjoyed by mom and appropriate for her demographic. Dr. Liz truly is invested in her patients well-being and we so appreciated her as well. We were able to coordinate mom‘s hospice care at the end of her life through Havenwood using St. Croix hospice and this really provided comfort to mom as well as all of her family. Thanks to everyone at Havenwood of Richfield for a job well done."

"The Ecumen Parmly (Margaret S Parmly) is actually a very wonderful place, very clean, friendly, and nice. They do have assisted living, and we are trying to get my mother in there. She went in there Thursday last week, and the people working there were very friendly. It is very clean and very beautiful. It’s a large facility, but each section has its own wing. They have entertainers that come in, and they have TVs. The atmosphere was very good. The room is not that bad; they have like six people in there and each has plenty of room. She has her own bathroom, TV, a chair, and a table. She gets assistance getting to the wheelchair and then to the bathroom. They come very quickly when she pushes the button, and then the person that comes in would do wound care. They are very good, and they listen to her. "

"Augustana Chapel View was very nice and very clean. The meals were well prepared and seemed like they had a lot to offer. The staff was very nice. The gentleman that I met with was very nice, very receptive, and very willing to help. The rooms were all double rooms. Some people were sitting in the central area where they were having a news program and different readings. They had activities, an exercise room, occupational and physical therapy, and speech therapy. "

"My visit to Ridgepointe was excellent, but we couldn’t get a tour on the weekend. It was a beautiful place. There were people just sitting together, talking in the lobby, and enjoying themselves. They have a grand piano for people who come in and play. There’s a lot of walking to the cafeteria, and if you want to have food brought to your room, you need to pay extra. The location was excellent, and it had underground parking. The staff was so friendly and so excellent. The woman at the reception desk was very nice. I love the rooms: they have a full kitchen, large living room, and bedroom, but they didn’t have a full bathtub. "

"Havenwood of Maple Grove seemed very nice. They didn't have the unit that I wanted available. So, I kind of didn't go back there. The rooms were nice. There were some things that I didn't like. There weren't many closets. I didn't meet very many people, but the person who gave the tour was very nice. It was clean."

"I moved to Bay Harbor of River Falls. It's wonderful. All the people that live there are very nice, and they have wonderful activities every day. I enjoy it very much. The food is excellent. Yesterday, we had music in the afternoon and bingo. The dining area, they're remodeling it right now, and it's very clean and very nice. I like my room very much. They send somebody in once a week for 15 minutes to do the floors, the sink, and the bathroom."

"My husband is in Ecumen Seasons at Apple Valley. So far, they seem to be keeping their word on all of the services they had promised that he would receive. We have received very thorough communication and a breakdown of all the billing practices so that we understand what we're paying for and what we're receiving. I was real happy with that. They seem to be very kind and thoughtful to him and understanding for his condition. They've been very attentive. I've sat with him for his meals and they seemed to be adequate and varied enough to get his interest. They're thoughtful in making sure he has something that he likes. They talked to him before they made a meal plan for him to make sure they were serving something that he liked. He's kind of locked in, so he can't go out. I can take him to the other places, but I haven't had a chance yet, to like the library and the theater. Compared to the other places that we looked at, they came in lower, but offered as good or better service. He has a balcony even in memory care, and it's locked. You have to have an attendant unlock it for you. Somebody has to be with him if he's on the balcony."

"Elim Shores is a great option for families looking for a warm, kind, and personable community. My mom lived there for 18 months and I only moved her recently for closer proximity to me on the other side of town. We found the campus super easy to navigate and not so huge that she couldn't find her way around. She loved the friends she made, and the staff worked together to make it fun. They actually knew all of their residents personally, and could help a family see if there were any needs that a family member may have. The pricing for an Eden Prairie facility is excellent. Many facilities have become so cost prohibitive, it makes it hard on a family estate. The location is easily accessed, yet very peaceful on a lake. The staff really made it a great environment with a sense of positive community. That always comes from the management on down, and Chris worked hard to create "fun" for the residents. The activity options were great, and Becky the activity director is pure joy. We are very thankful as a family to have places that we can customize help for our mom. Elim Shores was a big help in our being able to accomplish that. "

"My Mother was in Memory Care for 4 years before she passed. Alzheimer's can change a person and the staff were already ready to help, distract and ensure her comfort and safety. I genuinely felt that there were staff there that really cared about her as a person. "Minnesota Nice" is not a myth!"

"My mom didn't care for The Waters of White Bear Lake. They did not have any transportation for the people. You had to coordinate that on your own. That was a huge, huge thing for my mom, especially in the winter. I thought it was nice, but my mom felt like everyone was looking down at her. The people there have a little more in their pocketbook than my mother, so I think she let that intimidate her. It was very classy. They have a chandelier. The lady that showed us around was very nice. We went to their restaurant, and the food was really good. However, the people weren't as friendly, so that turned my mom off. The room looked nice. They probably had it staged like a nice model home, and I liked it. I'm 60 years old, and I wouldn't mind living there if I had no one else and if I was all alone. It had high-end cabinets."

"I toured The Boulders of White Bear Lake. It was all nice. It covered all the amenities that I needed. And that was an underground parking, an elevator, and laundry facilities right in the unit. I liked it a lot. The staff member who assisted with the tour was very nice. I liked it, but I can't afford it."

"The Cardinal Pointe of Maplewood seemed like they didn't have as many group activities going on as some of the others, but that's okay for me. It's pretty much independent living there and no assisted living. You also have to be over 55 to get in. They have meetings and social gatherings, but it's not like "today it's this and that". They kind of let you live independently and make your own plans. The size of the apartments is good and they all have a washer and dryer in them. They're very nice. Also, when you've picked to get into a place and it needs carpeting or anything, you get a say-so on what they put in, as far as coloring and that sort of thing. I was impressed, I'd put down money on it. They have a community room and a dining room that you can rent. They also have a guest room. "

"I'm currently living in Concordia Arms. The price and the size fit my needs. It's a senior residential building, so it's quiet, it's very well maintained, and it's close to my doctors, the hospital, shopping and everything. The people in the building are very good. It's run by a very capable resident manager. I wish I didn't have to move. If I didn't have to look at assisted living, I would never move from here. Unfortunately, my daughter lives in Florida and my health issues have escalated this last year, which means I can no longer live by myself, so I need to look for assisted living and that's why I'm moving. Otherwise, I would stay here. Regarding amenities, there's a computer room, laundry facilities, a library, and a craft room. There's also a party room if you want to set up parties for Christmas or birthdays. And they hire individual people to come in and do exercises with some of the people. During the summer, there's painting and a little bit of pottery. They have individual things that you would find probably in your local community. They used to have a movie room and a communal dining room, but after Covid those stopped and those were no longer available to us. But there are many amenities around us. Also, with regard to value for money, I'm subsidized, so this is under HUD, so I get a very reduced rental fee for an apartment that would normally cost over $1,000. It's a very good value for me."
