"I have already moved into Redbud Hills. It has the best value, and I get all the meals. We have games like Wheel-of-Fortune, Jeopardy, bingo, and sometimes we go out and go somewhere. We also have card games and a pool table. They have all the things to keep you busy. The staff members are very friendly and welcoming. They always stop and check everything. They're excellent. The food is good, too."

"Bell Trace is a full-service place, and it's not as fancy as a lot of places. When a guest is going to use the cottage option, they will completely redo the insides to your tastes, and they're done in a nice way. The cottages are extremely comfortable, and I would buy one as a home. You have to basically buy it, and the money goes back to you (as a percentage) if you leave. It feels like you're moving into a a smaller home that you would want to move to. They have a shuttle bus that will take you to wherever you want, they have scheduled days where they go downtown or to the mall area, and if you need help shopping, they help you. They have a very good exercise program, entertainment, they have a library that's pretty nice, and they have arts and crafts. It's much lower key, it's not like they're trying to cheer you up, and they treat you like an adult. I ate there twice, the food was very good, and they're amenable to doing it the way you want it. It's not fancy food, it's very healthy, well-done, and they have a real chef. If you like to drink wine, you have to bring it yourself, but they don't even have a bottle opener or corkscrew. The staff is nice and friendly, knowledgeable, and they didn't try to hide things."

"Gentry Park Bloomington was nice. That seemed like a great option for my parents. I like them a lot. The staff was great. They were very accommodating. It's a newer facility. So it seemed kind of nice. I had some dessert there and it was very good. I know some people that are there and they are happy."

"We went to Monroe Place. It’s really nice. I like the way they get together and talk. The room was really nice, and they had a really nice place outside in the back. You could go out several doors, and there weren’t any steps or anything to go out to. I really like it, but my husband just didn’t want to live away from here. I didn’t eat there, but I thought the dining room was very nice. They had like bingo and different crafts stuff, and they had the things for you to exercise on. "

"Meadowood was exceptional. It was very friendly, very family-like, very warm, welcoming, and very active. They served exceptional food, and the dining area looked elegant. The staff who gave me the tour was helpful. I saw residents putting together puzzles, some were playing pool, and some were going shopping. They had an exercise class going on, and there were residents reading books and newspapers. The outdoor areas were very green, very friendly, and very clean, with lots of walkways, ponds with fountains, and benches to sit on."

"I toured Autumn Park of Ellettsville. What I really liked about it was the fact that it's a smaller facility, and it's a very new facility. I liked the fact that it's not in Bloomington so that when I need to go see my mother, it's less crowded. Traffic isn't as bad. The units themselves are very clean and spacious. They have a studio, which is what I think she needs. They have that available. It's a really good option because they have lots of things that make you feel like you've got your own kind of independence to a level that you can handle it, such as you have a microwave, you have a refrigerator/freezer, and you can bring in your own little appliance. They have lots of activity spaces there. They have indoor and outdoor recreational areas. They have a movie room where you can go watch movies with others if you want. The staff is very friendly, and very interested in working with me. They were very knowledgeable about what kinds of degrees of assisted living are available, and what needs to be done for those who require more assistance than others. So, all in all, I really, really liked it. The only possible downside would be while it's not in Bloomington, it's still a little bit out of my way, but that's just a very minor inconvenience, so I really couldn't think of anything major or negative. They did show me the menus that they had, which I thought was really good, because they have their basic food that they serve, but they also give you options if you don't want that. I got to talk to the cook and he also seemed incredibly knowledgeable and very energetic, so I think they've got a pretty good staff overall from the people I met."
