"My mom used to live in B'Nai B'Rith Apartments for ten years. It was convenient. She was able to get two meals a day, breakfast and dinner if she needed. On weekends, it is on their own for their meals, but there are meals offered Monday through Friday at the cafeteria. Entertainment would come in to entertain the seniors and they have different events, like bingo, they would go over to Iowa for a day to gamble or go somewhere down St. Louis for the day on trips. They had outings, they would go to Wal-Mart like three times a week and they would do Kroger's about three times a week, different things like that. The ones that didn't drive had a chance to go out and shop for themselves. The staff was fairly friendly and answered any questions or concerns. My mom had no problems with the maintenance or anyone in the office or even the kitchen staff. It's nothing like that. Everything was good. I think on Tuesdays and Saturdays they had bingo, and you could win tickets for the little gift shop. A few canned goods, toiletries, stuff like that, candy, soda, stuff like that and has its own laundry facility. I only eat breakfast with my mom. They were really good. The food was all freshly prepared. How everyone wanted their eggs, bacon, sausage, it was always cooked for you."

"What was most impressive about St. Augustine Manor is it's an all-in-one. Mom is Catholic and they have a beautiful church. It's a not-for-profit place and she's seriously considering it. Tiffany helped us and she was an excellent and wonderful person. Mom's looking for a covered garage and they have that. They have a laundromat, a beauty parlor, and they provide meals at an extra fee. The room that she looked at was pretty spacious. It had a full size refrigerator and a four top burner that did not have an oven, but there's another area where she can go and use the oven. It's very acceptable. It's reasonably priced and it has the amenities that she is looking for. They can take her to the doctor, and they have outings and social events. The food is catered."

"Therapy staff is awesome. They do everything they can get the resident home. They work you hard but in a good way. The nursing staff really care about the patients and do what they can to make the patients feel at home."

"Buehler Home had nice amenities and a nice dining room. The rooms were very nice. The staff was very good. They had a movie theater, too. There were people playing cards when we were there. The apartments were clean, and the layout was nice. They provide parking, housekeeping, and a shuttle service. Even if you have a car and you don't want to drive, they can do that as well."

"My wife and I just moved into Independence Village of Peoria 2 months ago. We are very happy here. The staff is wonderful and very helpful and caring. The food is great and they offer a lot of options. The activities are fun and we enjoy many of them. They have live music and lots of games. We are able to stay in the same apartment and get the care my wife needs in the privacy of our beautiful apartment. My wife gets help with bathing and dressing and medications. The help is great because I will stay healthy by not having to do the physical care. There is a doctor here and they come to see you in the apartment. We have a driver who takes us to run errands. I just cannot say how much Independence Village means to us and how happy we are here! "

"We have just moved my mom into Hopedale Commons (East). Everything was very positive. The room is very nice. It has just been remodeled. New bathroom cabinets and countertops. Everything had been painted. I like the vinyl floor more than the old carpeting that was in some of the units we looked at. This one had been updated and had vinyl flooring, which works better for walkers and chairs. Everything was good with the unit. I asked my mom how the food was and she said the food was good. The staff were very responsive and answered all the questions when we were looking at it. I saw some card games going on and a lot of people exercising in the hallways, like walking laps. Everything has been updated, well kept, and clean. The exterior was well-kept. It looks like they have some group things. I looked at assisted living, they have movies and trips and stuff like that, but with independent living, everyone can still have a car or has their family can come and pick them up and such. It was very reasonable for what we looked at out there. They have assisted living right in the building next door, so if that progressed that was available to my mom also. "

"I was with Lutheran Social Services in Peoria, IL. I chose them because they had helpers with cars that can drive because I needed to purchase a wheelchair. I had a problem with them because I needed to get the driving situation settled. I only had one caregiver with them because I like her so much and she was perfect for me. "

"The room, common areas, and hall way are immaculate. I have visited friends at Courtyard and her room is beautiful. I have beer told the food is good, and the staff is caring and very helpful. Farmington is so fortunate to have Courtyard in the city."

"This is the best kept secret in the Metamora/Peoria area! My brother Ken, a cancer survivor, now requires a rollator/walker to navigate indoors & out. He had used Snyder Village's Home care (which is wonderful) for several months and moved into a cottage at Snyder Village in January 2020. Emptying his home and the move was so smooth. Snyder Village has a mover they work with and they subsidized the cost of the move. Snyder refurbished the cottage prior to the move and their maintenance department made any adjustments needed for his handicapped needs immediately, that day. Ken loves the home cooked type food with lots of variety. He can eat at the Bistro and order from a menu or have meals delivered to his cottage, which was handy over the winter. Ken has found it so easy to give up his home of 52 years -- because he feels safe at Snyder Village. With pull cords available to get help and phone messaging he is in contact with staff almost daily. And he gets quick response. There are daily activities and entertainment available if he chooses to participate. But most days, he is just content to have his private life in the cottage. The attached garage is a plus. Ken says it is the best move he ever made. And his brother and I who live up to 3 hours away are so relieved. We know he is happy and in a safe and caring place. "

"I moved to Maple Lawn Homes, and I liked the cottage I moved into. I felt I was leaving one home and going into another, which had a garage and several rooms, even though it was smaller than the house I left. That's what turned me on to this home, besides living in an apartment. They supply a dishwasher, a microwave, a stove, and a washer and a dryer. When I moved in, it was clean and repainted. I have a fan in my bedroom and living room, which is nice. I'm on one level, but I have an extended balcony where I can sit outside. The staff does the landscaping around my house for me and everything like that. I'm in a cottage duplex, so I have my nearest neighbor. Her garage is attached to mine. There's a group of houses like that and then individual houses that you can buy in as a community, but I wasn't interested in that. I have a dog, a cat, and a bird, and I was allowed to have all of them without restrictions. I've only encountered two staff members who introduced themselves to me. One was the maintenance man who set up my TV. He came with a lady and introduced her, and she was the landscaper. Everybody's been very helpful."
