Mom moved to Pekin Villas of Holly Brook and Reflections Memory Care. We liked the fact that they look in on her frequently and try to keep her active. We enjoy that part of it. They even have a lot of events going on this week, getting ready for Halloween and getting the residents ready for it. Everything's working out pretty well with the staff. She's staying in a one-bedroom apartment. We like the fact that she has an exit into the hallway and her exit to the outside is into a fireplace court. They also have some two- bedroom apartments. There's only one floor. So, we do not have to worry about her falling on any stairs or anything. The highest she gets is a curb if she goes outside. They've got a beauty salon once a week and manicures on Mondays. They do exercises once a week for everybody. They can go into the workout room anytime. They have a library and a pool room that's open all the time. They've got a break area that's open 24 hours. I think they can go into the activity room anytime they want as well. I know they have a theater there and if they're not showing anything in the theater, you can go in there with your family and watch movies. You also have your own TV in your own room, a refrigerator and a microwave, otherwise you get to go to the dining room for the other stuff. They have an activity room that has a stove on it where they allow you to bake things in there and stuff like that. When it comes to food, they try to satisfy everybody's flavor even though they don't season it like you do at home. I like the fact that if you go out and if you get lost or something, you just continue down a hallway, keep turning right and you'll get to where you want to either to the hall, to the theater, or the activity room. They just missed some of the activities though. They're there and then something falls through. I wish they would improve on that. They have a lot, but when they have something scheduled and they don't do it, that's disappointing.

I went to Pekin Villas of Holly Brook and Reflections Memory Care. I thought it was super nice. I thought the people were very friendly and helpful. The only reason we rejected it is that it was too far away from us. The staff was super friendly and super helpful. It looks beautiful and clean. I thought it was fine. I didn't see anything that I didn't like.

My mother was a resident of Pekin Villas of Holly Brook and Reflections Memory Care, and they met every requirement that we asked for. The staff was very helpful and very in-tune to the need of everybody that was there. They stay on top of everything. Their living quarters were extremely nice and comfortable. As far as I know, the food was very good, and my mother never had any complaints about the food whatsoever. They do bingo, crafts, games and things like that. And they encourage everybody to attend and participate, and if they don't come out of the room the staff goes to the room to check on them.

I was very impressed with Holly Brook, they were very compassionate, and took good care of my husband when he was there. The room was fine, it was a double room, but at that time there was no roommate. They have bingo, but I dont think he participated. The facility is very nice, its new, and the staff was very helpful and cooperative.

My Mother was the first person to live in her room. The room was large and the housekeeping staff kept it clean. The staff was friendly and caring. My Mother loved them and called them her kids. They treated her with respect, dignity and love. Even though she had dementia, they kept her engaged and active. When she passed from her illness a number of the staff came to her funeral. I will always appreciate how they made her last days pleasant. I have many pictures of her smiling as she interacted with the staff and other residents.

Pekin Villas is nice and clean and the people are good. The food is not that good, but they're working on it. They need to get more staff. They're constantly doing things, but I don't get involved there. The food is what's knocking everything down. They don't have a chef or a cook for the whole day. Cisco, who provides the food, also does the menu and has the dietitian, but I don't think they have looked at this place yet. We'll get a couple of really good meals and then we'll just get garbage. We had pork the other night and the patties were maybe 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch thick, way overcooked, tough as nails, and a day before that we had a potato soup, which hadn't even been mixed in. I couldn't stand to eat it. They don't have qualified people in the kitchen overseeing things. They have kids that work in there. They have to make stuff and they don't know how, so they do the best they can do. The kids were good, they all tried, it's just the lack of staff that's the problem.

Reflections has honestly stunned our family with the staff's love and care for our mother and with the creative and respectful way the difficulties and behaviors associated with Alzheimer's and dementia are approached and managed. Reflections' approach to dealing with dementia patients should be the standard. The food and accommodations are excellent, and the Administrator is awesome and gets things done. Not sure how she manages to find so many truly lovely and kind young people to do superb jobs, but BRAVO! Highly recommended.

The staff at Villas of HollyBrook in Pekin were very friendly. Nicole gave us a tour and she was wonderful. She helped us decide where to move our mother into and we couldnt be happier that we made that decision. She is doing wonderful! We love the Activity Director, Bobbie as well. She plans great things and she is very creative. I am thankful that she is in such a wonderful place with great food , great staff and they genuinely care for my mother.

My mother was admitted to the Pekin location in February for Respite Care.....her physical was ordered but was never given to her after two weeks. The head nurse was a slob...very poorly groomed. The aides were not up to par...my mother had recently had a pacemaker put in and the aide tried to lift her by her left armpit!!! Unforgiveable that this girl did not have the proper training for this...I was assured that this facility was equipped for this type of care. There seemed to be an excuse for everything that we asked about....right down to medications. I would NEVER take anyone that I cared about to this unequipped facility again. Hopefully new management and nursing care will soon be in order. My mother was admitted to another facility two days after leaving Hollybrook where she received physical therapy on the ceond day she was there. According to her insurance, it had been O.K.'d for over two weeks.

Pekin Villas was beautiful, and everyone was very friendly. When we went inside, the lady greeted us at the door and took us around. She showed us a 1 bedroom apartment and a 2 bedroom. There weren’t a lot of people yet as I think they just opened last October. It was absolutely gorgeous place. She showed us the theatre, cafeteria, and the areas that you could reserve for family get togethers.

It wasn’t bad and wasn’t good, but it wasn’t my cup of tea. When we toured Pekin Villas, it was late in the evening and we only spoke to the nice girl that met us at the front desk.

Pekin Villas of Holly Brook and Reflections Memory Care is a wonderful place. My mom recently moved to the memory care unit, and all the people that work there are terrific. She is still adjusting, but she is getting there. She has a roomy private room with a bed, chest, and drawer. She can decorate the room how she wants and bring in furniture. It also has a nice, big bathroom with safety features. They do their laundry and have a cleaning person that cleans the room every day. They do activities every day to keep them busy. She is a lot better than when she moved in. She is socializing, eating every day, and taking her medicines. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Pekin Villas was expensive, so I’d probably give it 1 or 2 for cost. For the way it looked, I’d give them a 4 or 5. It was very nice, attractive, and new. They had housekeeping who come and clean your apartment every week. There were several different rooms for activities.
