"I went to Pekin Estates, and it's clean. My grandmother stayed there, so my mother is going to stay there. That's where she wants to go. It's a nice-sized apartment. They have a dining room, an outside atrium, a beauty salon, a coffee station, and a room we can reserve for parties."

"My grandmother has moved into the Grande Regency of Peoria. It's a very good facility. They have nice apartments. They've got a 24-hour on-call nurse. They have maintenance staff that can do quite a bit of stuff for you, and they have a bistro-style lunch, dinner, and breakfast that my grandmother's been loving. She's kind of in between assisted living and independent living. She needs some assistance, but she doesn't need a lot yet. We picked this one because they have those different levels of care and the on-call nurse thing. Their nurses can assist with any of the normal daily activities that you need help with. It works out well. They can assist with putting shoes on. My grandmother doesn't need that, but she does need assistance with cleaning and things, and they have housekeeping and they do laundry. They come in and do laundry once a week. They take your trash out for you every day, and they come in once a week to do cleaning for you as well. We were able to see quite a bit of what they have there, as well as what they have in the way of amenities there without intruding on other people's care and time, and personal information. We were able to see the lunchroom area. They have nutritionists and chefs on staff. They have housekeeping, laundry, a spa room, and they have a podiatrist every once a month to do foot care and nails if you can't do your toenails. They have a lot of stuff in the building. However, they do have to use elevators to get to the different levels for things, which is understandable. They took an older building and renovated it and turned it into an assisted living facility. It used to be a German restaurant at one point and a hotel. It's all got the original woodwork from that, too. They worked with my grandmother a lot to get her in there as quickly as they could. She likes their cooking, so I would say their food is good. She has not participated in activities yet because they do have a two-week quarantine period if you haven't had the vaccine. They work with Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. They have a program where if you can get qualified through Medicaid, with it, your income dictates how much you pay in rent. They take most of your Social Security money. They leave you with $90 of spending money a month. We're not paying out-of-pocket for her to be living there, and she still has the money to be able to spend on herself. They had some residents on the level that she was on, which had oxygen in the room. Because they have nurses on staff, they do quite a bit in the way of care and they can handle quite a bit. I'm thinking that once it gets to the point where you're bedridden and you can't get up and do some of the things, then it's where they would probably have to have you move into a nursing home. If you can still do some things for yourself, then they work with you."

"I toured Proctor Place. It was a nice place. They took me through a room and showed me the cafeteria, and showed me the general layout of the facility. We talked about costs and that type of stuff. I saw a room that was under construction because they didn't have any available rooms of the type that I might have been looking at. I think the rooms were a little smaller than I expected at that location, at least in the price range that I was looking at the amenities seemed nice. They had little places for gardening that I liked."

"I looked over Independence Village Senior Living. It's a nice place. It's very clean, but I can't afford a one-bedroom apartment and I'm not going to stay in a studio because it's just too small. However, they were very thorough and explained everything to me. The staff who toured me was very friendly. I know they have a beauty shop, they have a craft foyer, and they take the bus and go places. When I was over there, they were remodeling, so the main lobby was not like it should be, but it's very clean. It doesn't stink or anything."

"ATTENTION Do not put your loved ones in this facility. My family had to send my grandmother there and the amount of negligence made my decide to quit my job at a local hospital to take care of her!!!! The staff is rude and very inappropriate "

"We chose Washington Christian Village for my aunt because of the location and cost. It meets the needs and it's where we needed to be both cost wise and proximity to where all the family live. During Covid, they are offering meals in the dining room once a week and the rest of the week, the residents are eating in their rooms. They offer transportation to appointments, beauty shop, and activities. Everything is scaled back because of Covid. The cleaning, nursing, bathing, and dressing assistance were included in the price, instead of it being additional cost. She hasn't moved in yet, so from a residential standpoint, I don't know about that. The staff was very informational and very accommodating."
