"My mom and dad are both in assisted living at Sunrise. The staff is very nice. They do their best to make it a home-like setting. I think it is a very comfortable place. It's a very nice place for an Alzheimer's patient. There is a nice patio, and garden that they can go to whenever they want. It's very clean, and I think the residents get good care there. I think the security is very good. "

"We visited Citadel Estates Memory Care. We saw single bedroom apartments and a studio that were all well kept. They had daily activities and set up an itinerary to take the people out on a daily basis. It was pretty good. The two people I met were attentive to my needs and polite, so that was encouraging."

"We chose the Victory Centre of Sierra Ridge for my mom. I toured there twice: once with my husband and another with my mom. I love everything I've seen so far. They took me on a tour of the actual room she was in. We met some of the residents there. The first time we visited they were getting ready to prepare for a play they were putting off for Christmas. The second time we went for our tour, there was one of the ladies that was over in the craft department. She was explaining to my mom different things that they do. She asked my mom if she sews, and my mother said yes. She said "Oh, we can use you." Mom got really excited. It's something that I think a lot of seniors would like, and especially with the things they offer like the different programs, crafts, trips. My mom loves that. She loves to go to operas and plays. They were very friendly and cooperative. They were able to answer any questions that we had. One young lady would even email me, call, and give us a status update as to where my mother's application was. She would take the time to come and interview my mom. The rooms are beautiful and have plenty of closet space. They have a full-sized refrigerator. They have no stove because they have a kitchen with a chef. There's a sink with cabinets (upper and lower), a counter, a microwave, and a coffee maker. The bathroom is huge. If she was in a wheelchair, she would be able to roll herself in and out. They get menus every day. The residents are able to choose what they want for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The meals are delivered to their rooms. After things started getting a little bit better, they started letting the residents come back to the dining room. They were able to have them distance themselves. I appreciated that because she was able to explain everything because we were concerned about my mother's safety because of COVID. It's a spacious dining room with several tables. Originally it was six chairs to the table; however, they needed to distance them, so they made it where there were only four chairs per table now. They have an exercise room and a room for physical therapy (if any of the residents had physical therapy). They also have a salon, but right now there's no one working in the salon. It was extremely clean."

"Our experience at Bickford of Tinley Park was excellent. It was very impressive. The rooms were adequate. The dining area was very nice, very welcoming, and had a warm feeling. It’s a brand new facility. It’s only been open less than a year, so it’s very nice and clean. "

"Dad’s wife was in a hospital and we had to put him somewhere immediately, so we put him in an assisted living facility called Tinley Court. We considered the location and availability. He goes back and forth to meal time, and other than that, the only exercise or activity he is getting is when one of my brothers or myself go there and take him walking down the hallway or out of the building. They are not there to give him physical fitness; they’re there to assist him in living. "

"My father is in Clarendale of Mokena. It is very nice and clean. The staff is very good, very attentive, and very patient. They have several things that they do during the day. They do completing sentences. They play bingo and do arts & crafts. They do keep them busy most of the day which is good. The food is very good. They do offer a couple of choices. If there is nothing that they like, they will go and get them a sandwich or burger or whatever they want. "

"It is new, so everything is fresh. The rooms are also the same. The person who assisted us during the tour showed us around and explained everything. She was great. They had a place for therapy, and we saw people coming back from going out for breakfast. The dining area was very pleasant, and supposedly they have a chef."

"I've had my dad for a short stay at Evergreen Senior Living - Orland Park. We were very happy with it, my dad has no complaints. It's a newer facility, around five years old, so it was new and everything's updated. The people seemed to be loving and caring and everything seemed to be in order. The staff seemed to be very caring, and there was a nurse who made sure that my dad takes his medication. They seemed to be very thorough and it was a beautiful facility. During the few times I was there to visit my dad, they have groups of people doing activities. They had a TV in a common room where they were singing along to songs and doing different things for memory care. They're working with the people there, so they weren't just sitting in a chair doing nothing. They weren't any more expensive compared to anyone else, they were the average price. They have a beauty salon available on the premises and they have an outdoor terrace that they can go out on."

"We did 2 different tours at Brookdale Orland Park, the first time we're very impressed by the place. When my wife and I first visited, it looked really good. They had things going on for the residents, like they had music going on at the time and residents were listening to different kinds of music and reading what they had. This place is one of our top 3. I took my in-laws there and it was right after their Christmas party, but I wasn't impressed with how the place looked after the gathering. It seemed they had more of the memory people out in the lobby area than the assisted living people. So there were a lot of people that kind of didn't know where they were, and it was kind of uncomfortable. They have transportation and a salon, but they didn't have a pool."

"We choose Arden Courts for my father. They do the latest research with dementia. They have wandering trails, and they let them go outside. They don't use psychotropic drugs, they don't have chemical restraints, and they don't stick them on the top floor and not let them come out. "

"We visited Arden Courts of Palos Heights. They engage the patients in something that they can remember from the past, like old songs. The staff was very professional and very caring. They had separate areas where they can sit and listen to the radio, and if the weather is nice, they can go and sit in the patio. They had a garden that they can go and work in. I didn't eat there, but the dining area looked nice. "

"This is a wonderful campus with independent living in one or two bedroom apartments. This community is faith based and my parents have really enjoyed settling in to this place and it felt like home to them immediately. They travelled to Florida recently but could not wait to get back "home". They enjoy the food and the fellowship with other residents and are proud of their apartment and allow it to be showed to prospective clients at any time. My siblings and I have piece of mind that our parents are safe and are well cared for. There are other services on this campus including assisted living and skilled care if their needs change. I would highly recommend Victorian Village!. "

"Residences at Deer Creek is a new facility. The rooms are nice and clean. The light is good. However, they do not furnish their apartments, and you have to bring your own furniture. Also, they don't have a kitchen. They have a dining area, where they have a wait staff that will bring your meals to you. You have a menu for the meal, and you choose an entrée, a side, and a dessert. All of that is included in the cost. "

"We entered this spectacular 5 star establishment and I was immediately struck by the fresh aroma and impeccably clean foyer when I exclaimed, "Can I get a room here too!" To say that I was impressed during my personalized tour of Grace Point is an understatement. From the moment we walked through the doors, the director Meredith and the entire staff embraced us as family and I knew this would be dad's new safe haven home. Every phone call, every visit, every question and concern is given full and immediate attention by multiple members of the staff and we can all sleep better each night knowing dad is in a clean, safe and beautiful environment with a loving and attentive staff 24 hours a day. What does dad enjoy doing? What will keep dad engaged throughout the day? What soothes dad? Are all top of mind questions that the staff explores daily to help dad build relationships and bring a sense of purpose and joy to dad's days. The director bought dad a mailbox and the staff fills it with mail because they discovered dad looks forward to that! How novel! How thoughtful! The staff at Grace Point has been teaching us more about dad than we knew. He's treated with dignity and as a special individual and we are so grateful to everyone at Grace Point. They've made this very painful and emotional experience with dementia as positive as it could possibly be."

"My father moved into the Victory Centre of Roseland last November. The location was convenient, it was near my home, and it was ten to fifteen minutes away. When I went there it seemed to be a fairly decent place. They give him his meals and things of that nature. He hasn't been there long. Covid has a lot to do with things that happen. The staff has been very accommodating of your needs. I think they're good. He has plenty to eat and hasn't complained at all. They have a gym, salon, and a beautiful backyard. Those that want to smoke can go out and smoke. They've got a little workout area for your grandchildren. If you want to bring the little ones they can play. So I think that's nice. They got birds, they got a piano, and they played music. So that's pretty good. I think they do a good job under the circumstances."
