I am/was a resident of this facility

Our experience with Cedarhurst of Godfrey has been very nice. It's a nice place with very nice people. We have two bedrooms, a living room, an efficiency kitchen, and one bath. The food is not gourmet, but it's OK. They have several activities. There's bingo and music that comes and plays maybe once a week. They're taking us on a bus to go to a lecture tonight. Once a month they'll take us out to eat, then at least once a week we go over to Walmart or Coles or something like that. They've got a library here, a pool table in a room, and a kitchen if you so desire to make a cake or pie or something like that. There's no cooking in the resident's room. We've got a refrigerator, a microwave, and a kitchen sink, but there's no cooking per se. It's a good atmosphere. It's very clean and bright with wide hallways and high ceilings. Everything's in a white color. It's not dreary like in some other places. Other people say it's not so expensive. For my wife and I, it's a lot of money to throw away, but then we're getting three meals a day. We don't have any taxes to pay now. So all in all, it does not cost us any more than when we were independently living in our home.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother just moved into Cedarhurst of Godfrey. It's a nice place. The residents and the staff are friendly. The place is clean and well maintained. The rooms are nice for what they are. The staff is wonderful so far. I saw an activity schedule. They've got more activities than the last place we toured. So far, I'm happy with it. The place is wonderful. They just redid it.

I toured Cedarhurst of Godfrey. I spoke with the staff, and she was very nice. Some of the rooms were very far from the dining room, so it would have been a long walk. They had a nice courtyard. Activities were going on in the dining room area. It may have been bingo or something, but they seemed to be having a good time. The place was nice. It looked clean and new.

Cedarhurst of Godfrey was very nice. They had a lot of activities. I saw their menus. It looked like they were really good. The rooms were nice. You could do your own laundry, or you could pay somebody 50 dollars a month to do your laundry. They had beauty shops. They had different groups that get together whether it's cards, books, pool, or things like that. They invited me to come out for Thanksgiving dinner so I could see what their food was like if I wanted to. They had both assisted living and independent living. They told me they clean the rooms once a week and they take care of all of your bedding as far as cleaning it, changing the beds, and all that. They were very clean and very friendly. The person who showed me around was very good. She has called me twice to see how I'm doing and if I wanted to come out again. They're very attentive. The place was clean. They showed me rooms that had just emptied, and they were ripping out carpets and painting walls. They do that every time a room empties.

I toured Cedarhurst of Godfrey for my mother. We toured the assisted living. The evaluator even said that she could start out at the minimum basic to start with. The place was very clean and neat. The staff seemed to be caring and very attentive to her needs. It looked like a good fit for her. It is close to my house, and I liked the cleanliness of it, and the accessibility. The staff was very pleasant and knowledgeable. The rooms were nice, bigger than some, and smaller than others. It's probably medium-sized rooms and they were very clean and well-kept. The dining area was very nice, too. It looked like she could get to it pretty easy. They were playing bingo yesterday and they play cards. My mom enjoys playing. They do field trips and stuff like that. They go to Walmart twice a month and they've got a bus service that could shuttle her to the doctor. I think she'll be better off here than she was staying by herself at home. We're really leaning towards a Cedarhurst at this point.

Cedarhurst of Godfrey is the place where they have what they call a kitchenette, because it consists of a sink, a small apartment-size refrigerator, and what I call Barbie Easy Bake microwave oven. It was just too small. Each room that the staff showed was not big enough to have a sofa. There was no room at all for company or anything. The staff member was a sweetheart. She was really, really nice, and very informative. She showed us around. The building was absolutely beautiful, but the living quarters were just too small. My furniture would not fit in there. The place was clean. It was polished to the tee. It was really beautiful. I didn't see anything out of place. They had places where you go outside and sit. They have a pond where residents could go out and fish.

My mother-in-law is moving to Cedarhurst of Godfrey. They provide meals and she needed that. I thought she needed someone else to be there and help her in and out of the shower but she can actually bathe herself because their shower is a regular handicap shower so she probably won't have any trouble with it. As soon as we walked in the door, it's a beautiful place. It's roomy and airy. They took us on a tour and we saw the room that was available. It's been redone, it's beautiful, big and airy. It has big bay windows in it that made it really nice and homey. It also made it airy, you won't feel like you're closed in. We continued on and the facility was made into a big square so you can't really get lost, you just continue walking and you'll get to your room. Everything about it made me feel like I want to move in. It's a really, really nice facility. We're really happy and just overly impressed with everything. The activities and amenities were presented to us, they had them on a paper and we looked at the activities that they had and things going on. They told us that if she would want to go to Walmart or somewhere else, they had somebody with a van that takes whoever wants to go. They go places or take them to doctor appointments, it's all available for them. They're making their people feel like they're home away from home, for sure. They're not going to feel like they're closed in. It's definitely not like a nursing home and it's very, very nice.

I loved Cedarhurst of Godfrey, but it costs too much money that I can't afford it. The place was beautiful, there was nothing wrong that I could complain about. Amy, the executive director, and the nurse and everybody else couldn't have been nicer. The rooms and the atmosphere of the place were also wonderful. I couldn't come up with anything that's wrong except the price. They have a 2-bedroom, a 1-bedroom and a studio apartment. I haven't tried the food there but it looks really good and their dining area was great and large. They have transportation, they have a beauty shop, and they go out twice a week. It's an absolutely perfectly clean community, and it's all one level so you don't have trouble walking.

My mom moved in. It's really nice, she's happy with the food, and everybody's nice. They do different things, and they have outings a lot. They take them shopping, and they go out to restaurants to eat. I'm very happy with it, and they allowed her to keep her pets.

It was excellent. Everyone was really friendly. It was exceptionally clean, and that was where my mom wanted to live. The rooms were all small, but I liked all those that I looked at. They had a really good activity calendar.
