My mom is at High Shoals Health and Rehabilitation (Family Life). As far as I'm concerned, my mom is in the best care. We really like it. We chose this place for its reputation. Everything that my mom needs are taken care of. The staff members are very good. The food is excellent. They provide very good activities.

I have nothing nice to say about High Shoals Health And Rehabilitation. My grandmother had rehab there. Before I lost my grandfather, both of them were at this facility together. Our overall experience was bad. The staff members were negligent. They both went there from the hospital for subacute rehab, and my grandfather ended up back in the hospital because they were not providing him with the care he needed, he ended up back in the hospital being completely dehydrated and malnourished. And then he had to go to a subacute rehab again after that. My grandmother persevered through it though. She didn't get hospitalized, but my grandfather did, and I was very, very upset about that. They didn't actively do something wrong. It was their inaction that was the problem, that's why they're negligent. The food was not good. The quality wasn't good. The facility was very gross and unsanitary. They need to clean up their act. They need to be more proactive with the care of their patients, and they need to clean the facility. It needs to be sanitized. The upkeep needs to be fixed. The level of care is insufficient for their patients, so they need a lot of work.

High Shoals is horrible. The rooms are awful, the food is awful, the staff is terrible, and the nursing staff supervisors were very rude, and would hang up on you. My mom should have stayed there for ten days, but I pulled her out after three days. You do not get attention, the patients sat in fecal matter for too long. The director and the front desk woman were terrible. They don't have any activities, and they'll leave the patients in their wheelchairs yelling for help. It was a bad place.
