I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My husband has been admitted to Liana Venice. It was very clean and neat, and his room is very clean and very spacious. Their staff is really pleasant and friendly. He has only been there for a few days and there wasn't much going on during the weekends, but they had some music going on in the main lobby, and they had an ice cream social. Their dining area is very nice but the food is very mediocre.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My wife is in Liana Venice. I'm happy with it. It is strictly a memory care unit. They have the right level of medical care and 24-hour nurses plus the nurse practitioner, so they can handle adjusting the meds as time goes on for the memory care person. That's the reason why I picked them among other things, that they're only a few years old and the place is very nice. They've got a great chef and the people that I've met, the administration and the nurses and everything is just fantastic. They have entertainment coming in, they have several large TVs around the place that people can watch during the day, and they play cards. I don't know about the other activities because my wife hasn't been there long enough. I can't believe how great the staff is. It's a good value when I compare it to other places that also charge the same amount or more and have less qualified medical care. It's new, well kept, clean, and doesn't smell. I haven't sampled the food, but they have a chef there and the menus that I've seen seemed to be pretty good. She hasn't complained and that's something in itself, but that's just particular to her, I don't know for anybody else.

I visited this facility

I kind of liked Liana Venice, but I didn't like the fact that they really didn't have much outdoor space. It's one of my two favorites. It was a beautiful building, and the rooms were nice and clean. But if the guests or residents wanted to go outside, there was basically just a concrete-slab courtyard with the building around it. So there were not really any trees, greenery, or anything to look at. It was very affordable, and that was nice. The staff members were very amazing, very friendly, very knowledgeable, and very helpful. The rooms were very nice; they were clean and they were large. It's beautiful inside; the inside is gorgeous. It's just the outdoor space is lacking, and that's really the only thing. It was located conveniently off the interstate. It would definitely be a contender for me if it had more outdoor space.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

If you are concidering Autumn Leaves for you loved one- run the other way - fast. My husband was there for 2 weeks. He was walking with no assistance, had no sores or wounds on his body when he moved in on March 19, 2019. After the first two weeks (they don't want you to visit the first 2 weeks) he collapsed, was sent to the hospital with pneumonia, mulitiple pressure sores on ankles, heels (stage 2), hip (stage 3), buttucks and back (stage 2), swollen legs and feet, rash, irregular heart beat and could not walk or stand on his own. With out my knowledge he had been given a drug to keep him quiet, a drug that has a black box warning from the FDA that says "do not give this drug to elderly demintia patients". Prior to his admittance I had toured twice, the staff was convincing, the place looked well planned... What my husband experienced was total neglect.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Beautiful, caring people working in this memory care facility. My Mom was there for 2 months while waiting for a new facility to open close to our home in north Sarasota. We knew the time frame was only temporary at the time of placement and so did the staff at Autumn Leaves in Venice. The nursing staff were on top of things and great in calling me with appropriate communication, sometimes initiated by my requests and other times, just being pro-active on their part. The caregivers were extraordinary and worked diligently to understand each resident's individual needs. Their commitments are quite impressive. As I talked with many of the staff at Autumn Leaves, their passion to work in this industry is driven from an experience with a loved one in their past. The activities were varied and the staff does an excellent job of keeping track of residents and directing and encouraging them towards the activities. Since my Mom was resident #6 in a new facility, there were a few "growing" pains; however, we found the Directors and staff open to any of our concerns. Interestingly, all of our concerns resulted in adjustments by the staff OR new knowledge imparted to us to aid our understanding. For caregiving family members and friends to grow in their understanding along this journey is so important as it really is a marathon. The building is beautiful, well appointed, lots of sunlight and many and varied large open areas. The food was good. I rated it a 4 based upon my taste, but I’m sure it was targeted perfectly for the resident’s palate. Hydration was quite intentional. The minimally furnished rooms are helpful, particularly if you are caught in a swift transition from another facility (hospital, rehab, etc.). The spacious showers have a large and sturdy built in seat; however, shower curtains are not provided and the 84" length for a shower curtain is not a standard size. I didn't always love waiting to enter or leave until a staff member was available to unlock the door. I am so very thankful and appreciative of the care that was provided to my Momma at Autumn Leaves
