My relative has moved into Truewood by Merrill, Port Charlotte. They've been very good. It's close to where he's from and where he lives, and he knows the area. It was less expensive than the other two that we looked at. The staff is very, very good. We tried the food, and it was very good. They're in the process of getting new elevators and new carpet and stuff, but they are putting money back into it. I think they're working hard to keep it up and keep it nice. They seem to have a lot of activities, too. The place is very clean, very friendly and well-kept.

My mother will be moving into Truewood by Merrill, Port Charlotte. Everybody was awesome and very kind. The residents were well taken care of. Everybody looked awesome. It didn't smell. It smelled great. We went through the dining room at lunchtime, and the food looked awesome. My mom's apartment is gorgeous. It's one bedroom with a balcony, so she can sit out outside any time she wants. I loved everything about it. The dining area was clean and well-lit. Everybody seemed to be enjoying themselves. The residents appeared happy. They were very friendly and outgoing. They were the kind of people I wanted my mom to be around. The people that work there are nice too. They offer meals. They have trips that they go on, games, a card area, a game room, and bingo. It looked like a very active lifestyle for somebody who was 90 years old. I'd like to move in there. It looks so much nicer than my house. Plus, they have housekeeping.

I have chosen Truewood by Merrill, Port Charlotte but I haven't moved in yet. The first thing we noticed when we went on a tour is how happy the people that were there in talking to each other and communicating. That was one of the big things. The price was another, and that was the second thing. They've been very helpful in helping me set up the room and anything else I needed. I'm happy with the size of my room. I don't need a lot, but it has a bathroom and a screened-in porch. I'm on the first floor. I've got furniture delivered there from Wayfair, and they said they'd handle it. And I'm going to have furniture moved down on the 15th from where I am, and they said to let them know and they'll have dollies out and things ready to move them to the room for me. All in all, they've been very, very, very helpful. The staff members have been very friendly. Everybody speaks to me and introduces themselves. They're very, very nice. They have a laundry room on the second floor, and they have a library, which is important to me. They even told me if I knew when the TV was coming, they were going to connect it for me. And my tour was complete.

Truewood by Merrill Port Charlotte looked good, clean, and comfortable. My dad is getting a remodeled room, so that will be nice. The staff who helped us went above and beyond. Their dining is buffet style. The dining area was nothing fancy; it looked simple. We didn't observe any activities, but they have an activity room where they do ice cream socials or pizza nights.

My friend will be moving into Truewood by Merrill. Honestly the people are just incredibly friendly, even the residents there. They came out and wanted to welcome her to the community. They told her how much they loved it, and what better recommendation can you get than from someone living there? We saw lots of staff, and I don't really know what the job titles are, but they're readily available throughout the place. You can see them working and taking the time to be kind to people. The staff is excellent, very helpful, and very kind about how difficult it is to do that. She rented a 2-bedroom, and it was very clean. For me, the whole facility in its entirety is very clean. The staff was just so friendly, and the residents were very friendly. You could see the happiness there. It was just so impressive to me.

Royal Palm was very nice. They got a gigantic dining room; the biggest I've ever seen. They are cheaper than others. I tried the food, and it was very good. The staff members know what they're doing. It is a tall building. It is not level like the other ones, and it has elevators. It is beautiful and clean. It is a block away from the hospital. The rooms were very nice. The dining area was clean, very nice, and big.

We appreciated the visit we made at Royal Palm in Port Charlotte. We liked it very much. What I liked the most about them is that they were comprehensive. They covered all the basics and offered all of the services that you would need. All the other places that we have seen were built around profit in a way that they break down their services so that you end up having to pay more. In Royal Palm they've included everything that you would need. Like instead of having to decide if you'd want one or two meals a day, they've included all three meals and had it all scheduled out so it would be easy for you to live your life normally instead of having to put yourself on a time schedule, so it was very convenient. The facility was very clean too.

My mother-in-law is in Royal Palm. It's clean and nice, and the staff all had badges on. They know exactly what they are doing. They have a medication cart with a laptop on top where they have supposed to be a MAR on right at the beginning. The activities have been very nice. They even put a sign out at the front desk which said, "welcome to your new home," with my mother-in-law's name on it, which was a very nice touch. She's very happy there, but of course she's been in quarantine, and she has to do a COVID test. She still thinks it's way better, and I do too. Talking with them, they've gone above and beyond for her, and for us as far as the family goes. Although she did not like a couple of things with regards to food.

My mother-in-law is a resident there. While I have not seen her apartment in person, she has been happy there. However, whenever we need to get information from the staff there we cannot get our phone calls returned. It seems that someone named John is the lead decision maker but after days of trying to get in touch with him and leaving several messages both via voicemail and through other staff, we have not heard back from him. I'm very disappointed with his lack of ability to contact us when we have questions that need to be answered.

I toured Royal Palm. I talked to the director there, and everything was really, really good. We had everything set up for my mother to go to the independent living and assisted living side, but then she had a real bad relapse in a rehab facility while she was there. The tour was wonderful, I was just very, very happy with how it looked, how it smelled. It was clean, very happy residents, and I just had a really good experience. That was the best one that I even toured, and it was my favorite. If she gets to go anywhere, I will take her there.

My brother is at Royal Palm. We chose it because it was in his budget, and also they had screened in balconies off of their studio apartments. The gal I talked to was absolutely wonderful; she was very helpful. She's another reason why we picked that place. I did it all over the phone and virtual walkthroughs. I did all the preliminary work, the finding of the places, and interview of the people. I just gave him my top couple choices that fit his criteria, and then he picked that one which that was our #1 choice anyway. He was on lockdown for two weeks because of the Covid, and then as soon as they opened up, they had a lockdown again. Price is reasonable. I would very much recommend it.

The lady at Royal Palm was very nice and very informative, but I didn't care for it too much. It seemed dark and dreary. The independent living was pretty nice, but the assisted living looked like a nursing home. The building was older, but it was nice and clean. It felt more like an institution.

Royal Palm was a high-rise building, it's in a very busy area, the rooms were small, there were people sitting in the lobby, and it was not appealing at all for me. The staff was very nice, they were very nice people, they have exercise classes, and there's something going on every day. The atmosphere was kind of depressing.

Royal Palm Retirement Centre was very nice. It was just a little too far out for my family. We liked it a lot. The amenities were nice. They had a swimming pool and an exercise room. The people and the rooms were nice. The studio was big enough that you could put in a screen and have a living room. The staff was extremely pleasant. It was a very nice facility but older.

I am writing as a testimonial to the love, care and service that my mom has received in the last year. As a family member that lives 20-hour drive away, a sense of security, dignity and respect for my mom was what I was looking for in an advanced placement center for my mom. When I found her at her former home, she was not able to take her medications properly, the management wouldn't fix her air-conditioning or clean her room and she was near the end with an internal infection, and she didn't recognize me and was quite afraid. I had only a few days to get her to "safety". I reviewed 3 different communities and the decision was based on location, availability of facility to her familiar surroundings and "the right feel". The ladies had us laughing from the moment we entered the building; your activities coordinator is a stitch and very special. We are regular folks and immediately my mom met someone from our old hometown area in Illinois. Go figure! Such a relief! It has been about a full year and my mom is alert, is getting proper nutrition and has been made to feel important/needed by being an ambassador to the community (she loves that!). I know that as she progresses or regresses as the case will be, she will be cared for at Royal Palms. My contact, Steve S., has been like a family friend. He understands how difficult it is to have a parent so far away. He has assisted in communications (my mom can't use her phone), filling out paperwork for my dad's veteran's forms, and so much more. He has kept in contact with me during my mom's last few trips to the hospital. He truly seems to care and understand the people he serves and protects (he is awesome!). The nurses, staff, and location have been so valuable to the peace of mind our family has that mom is in the right place.

My mother decided it was time to sell her home so we looked at several retirement centers. Royal Palm was by far the best fit for her. She has her own apartment, which is lovely and plenty spacious but also has the option of company whenever she wants it by joining the other residents downstairs, for meals and/or activities. She is extremely pleased with her decision to move there.

They were very nice to me at Royal Palm. They showed me the rooms, but unfortunately I cannot afford it. It was a very nice place, clean and all that, but I have no way to pay for it. Everybody I met was fine. The only thing about the people who were there was they were older than me and were in need of aid. I am 70, and that is not for me. What I saw of it was very good. The rooms were nice, and everybody gets treated very well as far as I know. It was pretty clean, and everybody was polite.

The staff in Royal Palm Retirement Centre was much friendlier. They are interactive with us. They introduced themselves with who they were and what they did. They could improve on renovating the dining and the kitchen areas.

I liked the Royal Palm, but it was cramped. When everybody was out in the hallway going to dinner or to activities, it seemed very cramped. I thought the activities and staff were wonderful. I really liked it, but the grounds were very limited. Everything was indoors, and they go out on activities, but there really wasn’t space to walk around outside. It was in a more crowded, urban area. It was very nice, but the only thing that was missing was the space.

My mother had decided on Royal Palms, and we are waiting for an opening. It is in the process of remodeling its main level. The staff was very courteous, thorough, and cordial, and we had a very good experience dealing with them. The dining room had multiple tables with plenty of staff waiting on the residents. The largest room that they had available was the one-bedroom and one-bathroom unit. They had lunches outside of the facility three out of four Fridays a month and went to the Charlotte cultural center for events. They provided transportation to doctors' visits, grocery stores, and discount stores for the residents. They had a bistro area for casual get-togethers as well as a coffee bar, a library, beauty facility, and a nursing station. They also had a rehab facility right across the street, and $10 a week would allow them to participate in the activities in that place.

The only one that we really like was Royal Palms. They were very courteous and helpful. My sister and I met with one of the representatives who showed us the amenities and the rooms that would be available for my mother. We really enjoyed that facility and are pretty sure that she may end up residing there. She is just not ready at this point, but we were doing our investigation. The amenities -- there was a nice dining hall, a gathering room for the residents with the big T.V., card playing, games, singing, and different things that my mom would enjoy. The rooms was unfurnished, and they were nice enough to show us a room that one of the residents allowed us to come in and look at how they had it decorated which was so bright, and they could turn a nice cozy room for my mom.

I am planning on staying here at Royal Palm Retirement Centre for at least another year. I have been here for three and a half years now. I am happy with the staff. I am not too pleased with the food; the food could improve significantly. I am happy with the facility. They have a lot of common areas that is important to me. We have a separate TV room, a library, and a game room. I am quite happy with the fact that there are about 180 residents here, and the reason for that is that prior to moving here I was very lonely living in a condominium; here, I see many faces and many people to talk. That is about the sum and substance of why I do like it here. What I was considering the most, it had to do with being closer to family, not because I was not happy with Royal Palm. They have a bus that takes us out to picnics once in a while. The same bus will take us shopping if we need to, the bus will take you on medical visits whenever you need, and there are many outdoor activities we plan. Sometimes, it’s just a walk in the park. They are quite good.

The building inside was quite nice, the people were folksy, and everybody seemed happy. The facilities were all more than good enough. They had weekly happy hour. The problem was the presentation from the street was not very good. Royal Palm Retirement Centre was in a crowded commercial area surrounded by vast shopping lots and parking lots, very metropolitan, not much room for a tree to be planted, and a rather difficult process of even getting into the front door. You had to figure out where you're going to put your car and then walk some distance to get in. But once you're in, they give you the service that you'd like to have. It's very clean and very attractive, but it's an entirely different flavor. It was a very nice facility indeed but a little older, and because of the number of floors, the density of population is necessarily higher. The staff were nice and accommodating.

I visited Royal Palm. It is an older building, and it is multi-stories. My biggest concern there is the single elevator for the whole building which I didn't think was adequate. The apartments were very nice. It has a balcony which is very nice so that the senior has a place to look out, sit, and get some sun. I saw the dining room. It is one large dining room where everyone can eat together. I happened to be there right around meal time, and the people seemed eager to get in there to eat. It is older, and it didn't seem modern. The décor is dated.

My mother-in-law is in the independent living side at Royal Palm Retirement Centre. I like their array of services and the fact that it is a graduated facility, so that should she deteriorate she doesn't have to leave that facility. It does not have a nursing home component, but it does have a memory care unit and it has an assisted living side with nursing care. She has a one-bedroom apartment. It has a little kitchenette, bathroom, nice walk-in closet, and living room; it is very pretty. Food is okay and they give them options: small, medium, and large portions, so that they have some choice in terms of both the amount and the meal portions. There is a main dining room that they go down to, but if she is ill they will send the meal up. There is a nurse on the staff. The other thing that I really like is they are bringing doctors in from the community who actually serve as primary care physicians for the residents, so that they don't have to travel to the doctor's office. They can see the doctor there at the facility. It is very nice. I am very pleased.

I work as a home health professional in Port Charlotte and routinely see several patients at Royal Palms. The staff is always very friendly and willing to help in any way. The activity girls are always doing something fun with their residents and everyone seems to genuinely like living there.

A friend of mine recommended Royal Palm and I went down to look at it. It was one of the least expensive. It was very nice and several things just fell into place, so I said this is our place. The rooms are very nice and it's like a nice hotel. My mom has one of the smaller rooms with its own private balcony and a screened in lanai. She's on the 4th floor and it came fully furnished. She has two closets, a bathroom and a kitchenette, a refrigerator and a microwave but no oven. They have all the activities you can think of; they have a TV room, a library, an activities room where they play games. They have transportation to and from all the stores and places in the area. They do all activities from exercising to bingo. They have a dining room where they serve three meals a day. I've eaten there several times and the food was excellent. They also have an ice cream stand and a little cafe. Royal Palm is a pretty nice, little place to live where people care about you.

At Royal Palm Ret Centre, my daughter went into one of the rooms and her feet got stuck in the floor of the kitchen area. It was not clean enough. Every once in awhile, the residents didn't leave their rooms because they had staph infections. There was a lot of problem with that.

The staff at Royal Palm Ret Center was great, but I think they could do more for my mom. My mom told me that they don't do anything. So I don't know if it's just my mother complaining or they really don't do anything.

This place has more help than the others I visited. I was not happy with the room that they showed me that was available. It was too small and looked more like a cage to me or a cave, I didn't like it at all. The view out the window was the roof of another building. The place is clean and everything looked fine except the room they showed me that was available. I was not that pleased with the person I interacted with there, she seemed that she was too busy and had no time for me.

I visited Royal Palm Ret Centre and this would be my first choice because of the location and price. The staff were really nice because they went out of their way to help me. The apartment I saw was big enough for one person. They served three meals a day.

My grandparents moved into the Royal Palms Retirement Centre a few years ago, and they love it. Every time I've visited, I love it just as much. The Centre offers levels of assistance, from independent living to total care in the nursing home. My grandparents live in an independent living apartment. The apartment is spacious and great for visiting, with a small kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and a generously-sized living room. There is even a sun room, great for spending some time alone with either grandparent. They get two meals a day in the dining room, so whenever I visit, I always accompany them. The food is delicious and filling, but healthy at the same time. The dining room staff is wonderful, and the chef is always coming around to the tables. The staff takes the time and care to learn the name of each and every resident that comes to their dining room, making it a great experience. If my grandfather wants to take his grandkids for a special treat, he always takes us to the ice cream shop and cafe for sandwiches and sundaes. The centre has great hotel-like accomodations, great for when my whole family visits. These rooms have a bedroom, living room, bathroom and small kitchen as well, with plenty of space to spread out and get comfortable. There is a lot for guests to do, as well as residents. We regularly frequent the huge swimming pool, shuffleboard courts and game rooms. I love knowing that my grandparents are very involved in such a great community. My grandfather teaches computer classes to residents, and my grandmother is involved in several book and craft groups. I feel reassured to know that my grandparents have a comfortable life, with great staff around to check up on them and take care of them when needed. The Royal Palms Retirement Centre is great for my grandparents, great to visit and gives me great peace of mind.
