Overall, Signature Healthcare of Gainesville was a good facility. It was an older facility that had been remodeled and refurbished. It was also a small facility. They were very professional and they seemed very caring. The sanitation was pretty good. Everybody was pretty clean, and they had lights in all the rooms. However, the rooms were small; there were two people in a room. There’s not a lot of furniture, only a bed, closet, TV, and chair. For price, they were the lowest, and that’s what she was looking for at that time. The money that you spend, you get what you pay for. The only thing is they’re understaffed, and they have a lot of residents. They just didn’t seem to be able to deal with the population that they have. I think they could improve the number and quality of the staff. It seemed that all the staff go on break at the same time, so there’s a skeleton crew manning the entire floor. You can see them from the windows. I found it hurtful. Everybody is gathered together outside, and you need somebody to change the diaper, or you need to get back in bed and nobody is available on the entire floor, and she is not the next person in line. There were times that they couldn’t get her changed because she needed to be lifted. We did it a couple of times. I don’t know if I would highly recommend them, but they served their purpose.

my stepmother was a patient at this facility for over a month. Although the outside of the facility is older, the interior was much better than expected. The areas were kept clean and the lighting was very good in the hallways. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. The therapies she received were very good. They also offer other activities for the patients as well. The rooms were adequate with two to a room and one shared bathroom. The lighting in the bathroom was not very good. The patient beds were very old but functional. There are two different areas at this facility and I walked through the other one and I was not impressed. It was a very old style nursing home with small cluttered rooms and old fixtures and furniture. I would avoid that area, if possible.
