Assisted Living Communities in High Springs, FL

"The Windsor of Gainesville's staff seemed to be attentive. They keep my mom's room clean and to me it's comfortable. They have plenty of opportunities for engaging in activities. They have a library, a massage room, an area to play cards in, and sitting areas. My mom is in their assisted living portion. The fact that it's all in one building and not a complex of multiple buildings is an advantage."

"In general the place seemed to be properly functioning and well maintained. The staff seemed proficient but also some what numb to the patients I assume because of the detachment that sometimes occurs working in a place with high emotions like that for long periods of time. Given the mental state of the patients living there it is hard to tell how they are really feeling or if they are happy with their arrangements or not, they did not seem to be in any type of discomfort based on the environment they lived in. The facilities were sanitary and accommodating for patients with physical disabilities. My only complaint is what I experienced from some employees. They would use scheduled patient outings for their own benefit, to get their nails done, pay bills, pick up their children, go shopping, or visit a friends house instead of taking patients to promised activities. I'm not sure if they felt this was okay because the patients were some what unaware of their surroundings to begin with or they just took advantage of the paid time away from work to do what they needed done. "

"It's a smaller facility but it was very nice. It's spotless and smelled very clean. This would have been a good place to go for my mom. Their goal was to keep the residents outside doing things as opposed to being in your room all day. They were good with that as they have a lot of activities. Even if it's a small town, they still have a lot of things to do. They have bingo and people that are artists and play the piano for everybody to hear. The day that we spent there, the administrators mentioned that their motto is that the patients are the people who give them a job and he only wants staff that are friendly and helpful. That pretty much came true. The staff there seemed to enjoy what they were doing. "

"If I was looking for a residential facility, Mayflower Assisted Living would be one I would consider. The cost is more affordable. I didn't see that many amenities. They have a little game room where they have games, board games or what have you. There weren't any other amenities that I saw as far as having a gym or anything like that. I know they were making some improvements to the rooms. It's a pretty simple facility. I saw a couple of different bedrooms that were available. One of them was a double. It was pretty small, and there was very little storage space or personal space for each person. One was a bit larger, but it was actually occupied at the time. It was a good size. The nearest hospital would be about 20 to 25 miles away. There aren't a lot of restaurants in High Springs. There are a few fastfood places, but not a sit-down restaurant. It would probably be about 10 miles to a sit-down kind of facility. The place looked pretty clean from what I saw. It looked like they kept it pretty clean around there. The little recreation room that I was waiting in was also kind of the cafeteria where they had their meals, and it was clean. "

"I liked Palms at the Park because it was a smaller community and the location was near Jacksonville which was where my cousin and aunt live. I liked their dining room, which was located in a big lake and overlooked the lake. They had a gym, a fitness room and a library. They had planned activities and they also had a church on the grounds. The staff was tremendously helpful. And I fell in love with it when we drove through the front gate, the church was right at the entrance when you came in and it's old Florida, stuck old buildings with Spanish archaisms and the price was very reasonable. You could either take the meal services or not. If you wanted a meal, all you had to do was call the dining room and make reservations. "
