My dad is a resident of Maplewood at Danbury. It's very clean. The people are very attentive. The staff calls you back. There's been no issues with getting in contact with my father. The doctors have called and kept me abreast of what is going on. It's just a tad bit less expensive than many other places. The room is excellent. They held that with furniture, getting him in and that type of thing. So I have no complaints about the room. One thing, just to be wary, they will charge you the first month's rent. They charge you a community fee, which is the same as the first month's rent, and they charge you a deposit, which is the same as the first month's rent. So it's triple the rent to move in, which is inconvenient.

We toured Maplewood at Danbury. It was so nice. The environment was fancy. They were so caring when we did the tour. They provided us with refreshments and all that. They wanted to take care of my mom-in-law. It's a bit expensive, and they only have private pay. Maplewood at Danbury is probably the best place for elder care. The facility, all in all, it's very clean and very organized. You would see the janitors always cleaning everything. There's always somebody to assist if anybody needs anything. It's very spacious. The bathrooms were very clean. Everything was clean. The memory care unit has an outdoor seating patio. So, it's just so nice.

Maplewood at Danbury was warm and welcoming. My tour there was very informative. It was a smaller facility. It wasn't one of the big ones. The layouts were a little small for a couple, but they looked nice for single people. I think the hardest thing is that it's right next to a hospital. So, you hear ambulances all the time, and it overlooks a cemetery. The care looked like it was going to be nice. They have a great area where people with lighter dementia can live with people who need a little bit more assisted living types of help. So, they have a nice community. They're friendly and seemed interested and attentive. It had a small garden. They're limited in size, but what they have is well cared for.

I am so grateful for Maplewood! We moved my mom (age 84) into Maplewood in September of 2023 and she is truly thriving. Her apartment is welcoming with lots of natural light, she is busy all day with activities that are varied and that offer supportive fun. The staff know her well and constantly reach out to make sure she is involved. My mom loves to attend the book club, bingo, arts and crafts and music. Maplewood constantly has people coming in to sing or play music and keeps everyone engaged and active. Meal time is also a supportive time and my mom gets to choose her favorite foods every day. I am grateful that she is cared for and has a place to call home!

Reaching the decision to place mom in memory care was emotionally challenging. We chose Maplewood at Danbury because of their expert staff, beautiful facility, and most importantly, their empathetic staff. Jennifer did an amazing job with guiding us through the process and introducing us to Maplewood’s directors. Jennifer listened to our concerns and gave sound, caring advice. In my heart, I know we made the best choice for mom and our family.

The people at Maplewood at Danbury were very cordial, friendly, and professional. The facilities were very nice and it seemed that they would be able to care of my wife. But I could not afford the kind of money they were asking for, that was the drawback. They have private rooms and they were very nice, they looked like they would be comfortable. I was favorably impressed with the room. The staff members were very professional and friendly, they answered any questions that we had. We saw the dining facilities and people were eating in there, they all looked happy and the food looked appealing.

We had a lovely tour in Maplewood at Danbury. The lady that spoke to us was very engaging. She was excellent, but the place seemed a bit too formal for us. We saw a room from the memory care and they showed us the dining room, and everything was very formal, very clean, and just not very us.

Maplewood at Danbury was clean, in a good location, and had activities. The staff was very helpful and very informative. They have a nice outdoor area, it's well put together, and parking was easy. We're looking for a one-person studio, so the room size was fine and sufficient. I just don't think my mother-in-law would like it there. It was too fancy for her.

I went to Maplewood at Danbury. The place is beautiful. They were all very nice, very accommodating, and willing to help you with whatever you needed. They gave us lunch, which was delicious because they have their own chefs. The food is very good. We saw the facilities and the dining room, and it was very nice. It's kept up well, modern, and clean. They were playing bingo in the craft room, and then there's a movie night.

I went to Maplewood at Danbury. It's been there for several years, and it's the first facility they built. The floors were clean, everything was waxed, and everything was pristine. I can't say anything bad about it. I didn't see a lot of people moving around, but everything was nice, and they had activities throughout the course of the day.

Our family member has been at Maplewood in Danbury for the past 2 1/2 Years. When I was looking for a special place for dear Esther I visited 8 facilities between NY and Ct. I was just about to put a down payment at a facility when I met a visiting nurse who spoke highly of the care given at Maplewood in Danbury. She did not work for that facility so I thought that her feedback must be sincere. When I went on my first visit to Maplewood, I was not disappointed. The staff were very attentive to the residents. The regular assisted living floor was lively with activity & people seemed happy. I knew Esther would need the dementia floor and I was surprised how calm & nurturing that environment was. There was a resident who preferred to sleep on the couch in front of the tv and that was perfectly acceptable. The nursing assistant spoke lovingly about the residents, telling me they are like grandparents to her. I later met the Director of that floor, Patti who sets the loving example of meeting each resident’s individual needs instead of forcing them into institutional standards & rules. I also learned that Maplewood provides extensive training to better understand and care for dementia patients. That is very obvious when so see the care given. Patti is a very “ hands on” Director of the dementia floor and is often in the great room sitting with a resident or providing support to her staff. She sets the tone by example and all the residents benefit. The food and activities are excellent & they always seem to come up with something fun & creative for the residents. They take them on nice rides on their bus, even during the winter months. It’s not easy when a loved one’s memory is fading and she can no longer live on her own, but at least I have peace of mind knowing Esther is safe, cared for appreciated for her uniqueness !
VERY THANKFUL DAUGHTER

My mom has been a resident at Maplewood at Danbury for the past 18 months. My impression of Maplewood from my first visit was very positive. My impressions turned out to be correct. My interactions with all of the staff members, including the office, nurses, nursing aids, and cleaning staff, are favorable. My mom at 91 years young is leading a comfortable life with plenty of activity, excellent food, and quality care. I am 100% confident that she is getting the best care available. There is not much more I can say and my family and I feel very fortunate that we found Maplewood at Danbury.

Maplewood at Danbury is very suitable for my wife and they do an excellent job. The staff is excellent. The place is like a country inn. The residents rated the food quite high. The amenities are superior and every day they engage in activities of the mind and body. They have morning and afternoon sessions almost continuously, and the people are free to engage in as much as they like. They do a very good job and treat the residents very well. We did an extensive search and in our opinion, this place is the best one for my wife. Its worth the money.

Maplewood at Danbury looked lovely. I couldn't find any fault with it except that the parking was not good. It was in a congested area near the hospital. The staff was wonderful, they were very informative, and pleasant. The rooms were really nice, and the food looked like it was good. I certainly would recommend it.

I loved Maplewood at Danbury, and I wanted to place my mother there. I love the people, the setting, the programs, and I thought it would be excellent. The staff interacted with the clients and with the other staff. The staff had the ability to do their jobs, and they were compassionate and caring in dealing with the residents. I really like the rooms. Also, the food is farm to table; it’s excellent, and we had an amazing lunch there. They had a lot of dining options that I was impressed with.

Maplewood was very beautiful, and the people were very nice. However, it was too far for me, and it was in the city, which I didn’t really like. The surrounding was very nice, it was very clean, the atmosphere was very friendly, and it was nicely decorated. The apartments were nice as well. I thought they were high priced compared to the others. They had a ton of activities scheduled.

There are a lot of positive things that come with living at Maplewood at Danbury, such as they have a podiatrist who comes in regularly, an on-site beauty salon, and a doctor and psychiatrist who visit. Pllus, they will do all the medication for you. If for some reason you are not able to bring your parent out for doctors’ appointments, they can perform these things right in their facility. It is very helpful. The public areas were lovely. They have a very good program for Alzheimer’s patients.

I did visit the Maplewood at Danbury. I thought it was a very confident staff, and I liked the facility. It was more for Alzheimer's than for what my brother needs. He needs skilled nursing, but he doesn't have dementia or Alzheimer's, and that is what they specialize in. I did think the facility was lovely, and I thought the meal plan was excellent. It just doesn't fit my brother's needs. It was very clean and didn't seem like a nursing home environment.

My mom is at Maplewood in Danbury, and the facility is beautiful. The activities are packed for all different levels. The food is amazing, and the people are really caring. I picked it because they have very high ratio of staff to residents. I didn't want my mom to be overwhelmed in a new place she can't navigate, and it has worked out perfectly. Because of the small size, they get a lot of individual attention. They get to know the other residents and the staff and vice versa rather quickly. It has memory care, and they have different levels like a continuing care community. If my mom's Dementia progresses even to full Alzheimer's, the place runs the complete gamut so she doesn't have to be moved.

Maplewood is a relatively new place, and everything there is also first-class. It is in a more urban setting, and it is also quite expensive. I imagine the staff is good. Parking is good. I'd recommend Maplewood.

Maplewood at Danbury was clean, and everybody was lovely, but it was more expensive than where we are at right now. The residents seemed to be happy, and everything else was beautiful.

Maplewood at Danbury is very good. I liked the place because of the location and the décor. The location is right across the hospital and overlooks the cemetery. They have a garden, but it was not a big one. I was invited to eat here, and the food was good. I noticed when I visited that the residents are very active. There a lots of arts and crafts. It’s a nice facility, but it's out of our price range.

The memory care unit (secured on the second floor) has recently been renovated, and I'm told plans are in place to completely renovate the entire facility this year. Clearly managed by an experienced team, the entire facility is extremely clean and the renovations are upscale/modern without feeling too fussy. There's a lovely sunroom on the main level that's filled to the brim with beautiful, healthy plants, where residents and guests can sit and enjoy company, or even just the peace and quiet. I didn't see anyone just sitting in front of a TV during my visit (usually an issue in memory care facilities I've seen). The rooms/apartments themselves were relatively spacious with good-sized closets and modern bathrooms, though the showers were fairly small and the views aren't great (e.g., power lines, cemetery - though trees should obscure the view in warmer months). We toured primarily the secured "Currents" floor (moderate-to-late stage dementia) and were extremely impressed by the connection staff seemed to have with the residents (e.g., greeting each other by first name, lots of smiles and affection, hugs during the shift change). The facility allows someone to age in place - so barring any extreme nursing requirements, residents would not have to move into a skilled nursing facility. Residents appeared to be extremely engaged (on various levels) with personalized activities - they have monthly meetings to provide input on a variety of topics; there was a visiting pet for therapy, word games, tactile therapy for those with more advanced dementia, etc. Even with multiple activities happening, it didn't feel too busy or potentially overwhelming for a dementia resident. By reputation, the farm-to-table food is amazing...and they sent us home with a homemade apple pie made by the resident chef (which was delicious!). They also pride themselves on having an RN onsite 24/7, and a "brain center" where residents work with computers that have special programs for cognitively impaired residents. The only potential downside I could see, other than the views, is the fact that it's in a fairly congested area so the outdoor space might be noisy. Parking is tight, but they do have a parking lot and you can call ahead to let them know you're coming and they'll reserve a space for you - also, they just secured additional parking for staff in a separate area, leaving more space for residents/visitors. Overall, the community felt incredibly welcoming and personalized - I would have no concerns about my mom living here. It's definitely on our short list.

Thank you so much for your feedback and your review! We are always interested in hearing what our guests have to say about us. Maplewood at Danbury is proud to offer a small, in-like environment for those needing extra help in their day to day living. Although we are located in Danbury, very close to the hospital for extra peace of mind, we do have outdoor seating areas for residents to enjoy the beautiful gardens, waterfall and walking paths. And you are right to indicate that we have new parking for ample space for our visitors, families, guests and associates! Thank you for taking the time to visit Maplewood and for offering us your detailed review. Please call on us to answer any further questions.

I spoke to a very knowledgeable and courteous individual over at Maplewood who knew a lot about assisted living. The place seemed to be very nice. The common areas were very nice as well. But it was in a very congested area and was right near the hospital. So parking was somewhat difficult. There was also lot of noise there. That kind of things turned me off.
