"My Mom has been a long term resident at Hancock Hall for almost 2 years. She was also a short term rehab resident twice before. Hancock Hall is a wonderful facility. I know that Mom is in excellent hands. She receives the best of care from the Nursing staff. There are many activities throughout the day that she can attend. The Recreation staff is sure to invite Mom to all activities, especially her favorites. The facility is attractive and always very clean. The owners are on site and available to speak with. Mom has made new friends with other residents and staff which makes us happy. Choosing a nursing home is not easy, but I know that we chose the best facility. It makes my siblings and I very happy to see that Mom is happy, well cared for and safe.."

"Some of the workers were vary polite others obviously were not. I personally was surprised with some of the workers they had working in this facility as they did not look presentable enough to hold a position in that sector. When I say that I am referring to Neck and full arm tattoos of which were showing, big piercings on nose, ears, and lips. I also was sadden the minimal amount of people who stayed at this facility full time were actually allowed to go outside. On the other hand, the building was keep fairly clean, the facilities bathrooms were clean, and they had a nice environment when you first walked into the building. The Kitchen looked a little to outdated, and should be remodeled, and several of the workers did not wear hair nets at all times which I feel is necessary. The Building is Big, but not large enough for having over 120 patients living there full time. I would hope that they would in time either look for a better larger building, or remodel the building a bit to allow for rooms to be a little larger, and for the elevator area to have more room as well. "

"Glen Hill is the best place. I had my mother there on two separate occasions following surgeries. The staff is very kind and caring. Therapy was excellent and even treated her on the weekends. The administrator and Director of Nursing were very attentive to our needs. Glen Hill is a home away from home facility. We traveled from WTBY just to come to Glen Hill. I would highly recommend Glen Hill to everyone. "

"After my mother had a series of strokes, she needed 24/7 care. Not to mention physical therapy. Her stay at Ashlar was by far one of the best in such a horrible situation. Visiting her was a pleasure as we could wheel her outside and sit by the water. All the staff is very friendly and informative. The patient as well as the family seem to be their priority. "

"I looked at Waterview Hills in Purdys. It was last fall when I went there, but it was very nice. They took us down to a lower level, and they had one floor that smelled a lot like urine, and I didn't like it. They need to improve on the cleanliness of it. It looked like you're on a cruise ship in there. They had nice cafeteria, and there were nice tapestries on the wall. It was very nice. The staff was very good. They had a beauty parlor, they had a gym for physical therapy, they had a big common room, and in the common room, they had a fish tank and a library. It was very nice."

"I have been the caregiver for my 95 year old Aunt Catherine, for the past 5 ½ years. I did my best to accommodate all her needs and keep her living as independently as possible in her apartment in Brooklyn. Unfortunately, she had a bad fall this past March. At that point, she was no longer able to go back and live in that same apartment where she had lived for the past 25 or so years. I was so nervous to uproot her and take her away from everything she knew. Needless to say, I was overwhelmed with the task of finding a nursing facility that would please my heart and head for dear Auntie. I searched and searched and searched and searched. Viola, I finally found Salem Hills! Well, I’m not just happy with Salem Hills, I feel so blessed Aunt Catherine is able to be part of the amazing SH family. Here are the most caring, qualified, efficient, helpful, upbeat staff Aunt Catherine has ever had the pleasure of knowing –people she now calls her friends…. people I can always rely. The atmosphere is welcoming – and the place is clean; one would say, immaculate. I want to give a special shout out to: Jenn, the incredible social worker who knows each and every one of the residents needs, Paula and Jessica who tirelessly and cheerfully get every resident involved in fun events downstairs, Lauren our very special night nurse who extends her expertise and friendship to all on the second floor, and Diane in Finance, who has made the process of undertaking the vast amount of confusing paperwork so smoothly. Thankx, too, to the custodial staff who keeps the place sparkling. Ps. And I’m thrilled to report…there is no “old people” smell –EVER -- AT ALL! Salem Hills, you have joined us as our treasured family! Thank you, thank you, thank you to all. "

"My mother has been a resident of Wilton Meadows for 9+ years. She is in late stage Alzheimer's Disease. During her residence she has been well cared for, is content and still smiles at the people who care for her. I am a frequent visitor and am grateful to the nurses, aides and staff who care for her every day. This disease has a great impact on family, and from time to time, I feel that they are caring for me as well. My mother chose well when she opted for Wilton Meadows as her home."

"During our visit, we thought that it was very pleasant. We enjoyed talking with the marketing person. The people living there seemed to be very friendly. The apartments had variety of sizes, small and large. The ones we saw were pleasant. Some of them looked out on lovely wooded areas and others looked out on the roofs of garages. There were several dining options on this facility, which was very nice. They had what they called a bistro and a formal dining room. There was even an area where you could eat outside. We were told that there was a van that took the people to various functions off campus. They also have a lot of activities available there for handicapped people. They have a beautiful swimming pool, spa, and beauty salon. They even had a library. However beautiful the place was, we just decided that we were not ready to move yet."

"Mom and I are so relieved to know that Dad is in the hands of such competent and compassionate health care professionals. Dad is treated with the utmost respect and sensitivity. Finding the right schedule for therapy and meds to get him on his feet again has taken some diligence but this is not a group to give up easily. I am the only daughter and I am visiting from FL and it is extremely important to me that he be in the condition that would reduce the potential for further injury as my mom is burdened with health issues of her own. I am beyond confident that the healthcare team working with him here will provide him with just the support he needs to gain back his strength and return home. It truly is difficult to be so far from a suffering loved one but it will be much easier to leave knowing that he is in the hands of such a special group. My mom and I can not express our gratitude enough! "

"I was really comfortable visiting my uncle at Candlewood Valley because it had a strong "home" atmosphere rather than a hospital vibe. The furniture and decor was very modern and stylish so it was very pleasing to the eye. Over the course of 2 years I had pretty much seen the entire facility including the administrative offices and I was always impressed with how clean everything always was. The staff was very inviting to family/visitors and had a clearly genuinely warm "friendship" with my uncle, rather than a just seeing him as another business transaction. My uncle was very grateful to us for finding Candlewood Valley for him because he had lived in other facilities that he really hated. There's nothing really negative to say about Candlewood, but I would have liked to see more diverse schedule of activities for the residents. They could definitely be more creative in the recreations they offer and perhaps ask the residents what activities they would like to see added. Overall I would rate this as a safe, clean, therapeutic facility that could use some attention in the recreation area. "

"I am very pleased with the Grand at Pawling. Physical therapy is going good. Sometimes I feel I cant do certain things, but the staff works with me and helps me get through step by step. The therapist communicates with me and guides me. The aides come quickly when I ring the bell. My room is always kept clean. Also, I really like the food they serve. My only wish is that there were more channels available to watch to watch on the tv. However, I'm glad to know I can watch Netflix on the IPAD. Very happy staying here at the Grand. All of my needs are being met."
