It has now been a year since making the difficult decision to move my father to a facility where he could get the 24/7 care he now needs. We made the right decision choosing De Un Amor! The beautiful setting in rural Corralitos and the spacious, well-kept grounds alongside a gurgling creek provide a serene environment and a great opportunity for the residents to get outside and enjoy the natural world. It is also a pleasure for me to make the 15-minute country drive from my home to visit my father. Most important, though, are the staff at De Un Amor. They all know my father by name and he knows them (well, maybe not their names). The quality of care is top notch. I can always call and immediately speak with someone who knows my father and knows what and how well he is doing. De Un Amor is small enough to foster this familiarity and personal attention, but large enough that they can provide activities (Veronica is their wonderful full-time activities director), keep well staffed at night, and bring in a variety of services. My father's doctor highly recommended De Un Amor and even does house calls there when needed. I can't recommend De Un Amor highly enough. What a relief, after years of struggling to keep my father in his home as long as possible, and watching him become increasingly isolated, lonely, and at physical risk, to know that he is being well cared for and once again interacting with people.

My father stayed at this place briefly. He had moderate dementia, which the staff were unable to manage. The facility is quite attractive. and homelike But, when staff were unable to manage my father's behavior, the owner Tyg, pressured my father's wife to remove him from the facility at once He nagged her relentlessly, failing to give the required notice, which I have learned is 30 days. We were unable to find a new place for dad to live in that time frame and she took him home. This had disastrous consequences which resulted in dad's hospitalization and significant deterioration of his health and abilities.

This is a spotlessly clean facility with a staff that truly cares for their patients. My mom shared a room and there was a en-suite bathroom. It is small enough so that the staff really knows what is happening with each patient. The place is very comfortable, and the patients all seem very happy. It is set up as a typical house where patients use their rooms for sleep and naps, but then come out into common areas during the day for activities, tv, meals, exercises, or meals.

I was surprised that De Un Amor was a nice facility with such a terrific layout because its location is way out in the country. In fact, it looks like a well set up, very nicely appointed house in the country. It’s not huge, but it was very nice. The staff was very attentive to the patients.

De un Amor was nice. We went in, and they were having a Christmas party; so we got to see all the elderly people out-and-about with their families. Then we got the tour. It was nice, but as I looked around I didn’t see any other men; and my dad needs to be around some males. The food was good. It was OK.

De Un Amor is very nice, very clean, and very well-organized. We’re very pleased and feel positive about it. They have exercises every morning. They do Scrabble and word searches. They have some outside activities; they take them on excursions to the beach and for ice cream.
