I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Beachwood Post Acute & Rehab is notoriously bad. Over the years they've had consistently poor reviews. I've had two or three friends there and have had the same kinds of care issues that I think ultimately has to do with understaffing. The nurses, the CNAs, and the folks on the floor are all very pleasant and would like to help, but there's just not enough of them and/or they don't have the proper training. My friend has been at Beachwood and wants to return home. Something that I can say has gone really well is physical therapy. She said that she's doing physical therapy every day. The meals are good. What is not great is the responsiveness of staff in a real specific way of using her call light and not getting a response when she has a need. The last time she was at Beachwood some years ago, her medications weren't either delivered timely or as-needed medications weren't given as needed, and that left her in a significant amount of distress. Her room is more of an institutional setup, like acute care. It always appears clean.

I am/was a resident of this facility

Beachwood Post Acute & Rehab looked like a hospital, but the people were nice. I was there for four weeks. It was the first pleasant experience that I've had in the series of rest homes I've been in, and they were very attentive. I had one roommate, and they changed frequently. The food was good and well prepared. They did your laundry weekly. The nurses were nice, too. Even the ones that barely spoke English were very pleasant and very caring. They also were very careful about making sure you got showered a couple of times a week and they were very nice about it. They had an excellent physical therapy room. The people there were experienced. They knew how to work your muscles and so forth. I had just gotten over a back surgery and a hip surgery, and I found them to be very attentive. They also had a facility for entertainment you could go to at your own choice, but you had a television in your room and that was sufficient, too. It's a four-story building. It feels like an old Army hospital, but that's no reflection on how they handle it. There's an elevator, but it's a decent building. This place was built like a brick-and-mortar. It's very secure. I know they have good physical therapy. They gave you a list of activities and you could choose from a movie or a book club or something like that. They had a little party on the weekend, so their activities were pretty good.
