We attempted to call and arrange a tour but were told that there was a very large waiting list and therefor there was no point in asking/answering our questions or coming in for a visit. Perhaps the caretakers are more sympathetic than the gentleman who answered our call as the nurse practioner who recommended this place thought highly of them.

I am reviewing the Irene Swindells Alzheimer's Residential Care Program. This facility is unique in that it is located inside of the California Pacific Medical Center Hospital at the California Campus. I have visited many times in the past few years. Although located in a hospital, it is a separate unit on an entire floor. It is a secured facility for those impaired by Alzheimer's, but it does provide a home-like atmosphere. The facility is very quiet and clean. The patient rooms are large, well lit and patients reside two to a room with a large bathroom. The staff shows great care with the patients and the employee turn-over seems to be low. The food is good and the activities are varied. There is also a large outside garden area which is rare in a big city. Parking is also easy for patient's visitors. I would be very comfortable with having a loved one here, especially because the hospital setting allows for medical care without having to leave the building.
