This is a 2 star facility, but after visiting dozens of times, I don't see how it is not a 1 star facility. Many of the nurses and cna's are indifferent and un-empathetic to patients. My family member regularly had to wait 1+ hrs after requesting pain medication (even though he was scheduled to receive it earlier). Call bells constantly ringing while employees hang out at the nurses station. If I dare questioned anything, more often than not I was addressed in a rude manner. I spoke with many patients during my visits to Oxnard Manor. It also seems as though they somehow bring patients to believe they have no choice in when they go home. I spoke with numerous residents that would say they are "stuck here" and want to go home but are threatened that if they leave before the facility agrees, they'd be documented as leaving "AMA" (against medical advice) which can lead Medicare to denying certain services after you leave. This facility also has a large number of homeless patients and patients with mental diagnoses, who need a lot if help from the social worker, but instead are given the run around and kept in the facility for as long as possible. On a positive note, the therapy was good, and the therapists who worked with my father were caring and understanding and worked with my father to get him stronger and walking better so that we could bring him home. Despite therapy saying he could go home and continue therapy at home, it was like pulling teeth to get his discharge expedited with nursing. I would not return to this facility unless it was my only option.
