My wife moved to Murrieta Gardens and I liked it. They are taking good care of her. I did not find anything I didn't like about it. It's not a new facility. The building is not new but they've got a good reputation. The staff is doing everything. They've got activities in the lounge for them and they get together. They do outside activities too. The food is good. It's not like a five-star restaurant but it is adequate.

I was impressed with Murrieta Gardens. Their staff is very, very friendly. They try to help the residents as much as possible. They are busy, they have to do everything. Some of the residents have to be bathed, dressed, and helped with eating and so forth. But they're always finding a little kind of a community game. One time, they had a big beach ball type thing, and they throw it up in the air and the residents would have one of those swim noodles and they'd try to hit it, just things like that. That's what I watch for, keeping them busy and being friendly. My hospice lady recommended it because she felt like this one was the best in the way they help take care of people. I've had my husband there for respite care. I went in there several times, and I told them that he needed to have a little help mainly just to get started in eating. Sometimes he just sits there and looks at the food and I have to get him started by putting some food in his mouth and then he kind of gets into it Some of the shifts weren't as good as others. But the main thing is they are always walking by, and they'll say hi to certain people, say their name, stop and talk to them for a second, that type of thing, instead of just always being busy and just rushing from one thing to the other and not acknowledging anyone. They have good food, but it could be a little better. There's some downtime, mostly in the evening when it comes to activity. It's when the staff is trying to get everybody into bed, and I feel like there could be a little something that could be going on. They tend to just let them kind of sit there. They can go into the T.V. room or something but I think they could still keep them engaged a little bit. They have dinner early, so possibly pass around some snacks. I noticed that they didn't do that and so there is where they could improve. Compared to what other facilities charge, I think they're pretty good because they don't charge extra if one resident has to have more care. They have one flat fee, and it never goes up except maybe once a year. You're not going to pay another extra $500 a month or $1,000 a month because they have to have more care, they keep it at a flat rate. It's strictly a memory care. I believe some people there are considered assisted living. They're walking around and not quite as low in memory as some of the others.

My mom will move to Murrieta Gardens. I like that their staff is better trained in memory care. I like that I saw more hands-on with the clients. Where some places you go, residents were like sitting with nothing to do. Every time we were there, I saw people engaged. If it was just watching TV or if it was playing a game or crafts, I saw a lot more hands-on caring. I like the fact that they're all-inclusive where you don't have to deal with the level of care, which makes it a lot easier for you to budget the facility. I like that the facility is fairly modern, too. They have a lot of diverse backgrounds, which I think are very important. They give you a better insight into dealing with people that have memory issues. Everybody came up and introduced themselves when I walked in, and it wasn't just the person during the tour. My mom and wife were there last week. They had lunch with them and met some of the ladies that are on the same level as my mom, so she could already start meeting people. They have a beauty salon inside there, and a lady comes in once a week, and you just pay her directly. Another person comes in and does nails. They have a hygienist that comes in. You can get teeth cleaning, and you go through them. They offer that as a service as well.

My mother-in-law lives in Murrieta Gardens and she has been doing a lot of activities there. She has gone bowling and has been taking communion. They called and told me when they were going to ask the doctor for a new prescription. So, they do complete communication with you. Her room is very nice. It is big and has a private room. I like that the bathroom has its own attached chair in the shower on the wall so they don't even have to take it out or take it in. It's comfortable. The staff is wonderful. Especially Brittney and Mary, and all the of them. They made me feel like I was family. I felt at home. I even want to go there when I get old. Britney used to be a caregiver so she has that personal aspect of how to care for somebody. She makes them feel like it's home. She worked with me on the price, because we were on a budget. We also like that there's no level of care there. It's just all memory care and they have a set price. The food and dining area is nice and homey, professional and very clean. Maintenance and upkeep are wonderful. My mother-in-law doesn't have to feel like she's trapped in a facility. She has open grounds to go outdoors. It is gated and secure so she can go far enough. It's got a beautiful view where you could sit down on a bench. There's no alarm system to keep her in.

Murrieta Gardens was OK, but it was a smaller facility. The staff was very nice. I saw the dining area, and it was OK. It was an older building, and it had the smell of an older building. They had a lot of areas where the residents could watch TV or things like that. I didn't care for their outdoor area because it wasn't well kept. There were tables and chairs, but there wasn't too much greenery.

I toured Murrieta Gardens for my dad and it was amazing. It was the first facility I toured. The staff was wonderful. They were so kind, so helpful, and so compassionate. You can tell that they love what they're doing. The community is a small community; I was told maybe about 50 residents. It was a little bit on the older side, but that didn't deter from what they did. They seemed to have a good amount of activities for their residents. The staff knew who the residents were by name. They were a really great facility, and they were helpful in decision-making and everything, and even with follow up. The apartments hwere actually really nice, although it was an older building. It was very nice and clean. You would think an older building would have different scents or stains on the walls or anything, but it wasn't anything like that. The dining area was nice, big, and open with lots of natural light. They actually have several small outdoor spaces. They are like little gardens and very peaceful.
