This facility is great!! The food is very tasty. The accommodations are nice. Staff spend time and talk with me. The rehab department is excellent. The rehab staff are great. I've been doing therapy there and had success. When I first started therapy, I refused to go but when I decided to go, they helped me walk and my legs got stronger. They have the nicest social worker and DON. They helped me a lot with me finding a place to live when I got discharged. The medicine is given on time and blood sugar test is taken early. They check temperature and blood pressure in the morning and afternoon. In the activity room, they play bingo and they also have a big tv screen. It's always fun to go there and they keep me busy. Another nice thing is that Birthday's are celebrated with a nice party and balloons.. They really care about their residents. Thank you Gardena Convalescent Center!!

Although the staff seemed kind and respectful facilities were fairly small and nothing special. Nothing to excite the residents except for special events and activities which brought residents together for a brief time of fellowship. Residents still seemed fairly happy especially when visitors like us would come and visit. The staff seemed to be fairly kind to the mostly unresponsive residents and knew what to do for each individuals' needs. Everything looked similar, rooms and hallways, except for a certain decorated patio area which apparently serves as a spot to hang out for the residents. Most residents stay in their room watching a small television but there was a board of planned social activities in a conference/gathering room.

Initially, the admissions's coordinator met with us to discuss my dad needs, our concerns, and to answer our questions. She assured us that the center staff would coordinate their care of my dad with his doctor. That is exactly what they did. They kept accurate records, so I was always able to corroborate the doctor's orders with how they were caring for my dad. Also, my dad is a very picky eater but he ate well at this center and told me he enjoyed the food. The meals were consistently well planned, fresh and served with care. The nurses keep my dad clean and his bedding was always clean and neat. The facility is a nice size, not too large, with sufficient staff. It is nestled away in a quiet area near the hospital, and residents have a nice patio-type space for outside seating, walking and activities.
