"My grandmother had to be placed in a nursing home in early December. She was suffering from Lou Gehrig's disease and we could no longer care for her ourselves. We felt so guilty to have to place her in a home, but there was nothing else we could do. We ended up putting her in Essex House, which is in Tappahannock and close to where she grew up. I was scared at first because I've heard such terrible things about nursing homes, but this place turned out to be so great. The facility was nice and my grandmother was roomed with a sweet, old lady who kept her company. The staff there were all so nice and supportive. They treated her with such kindness and respect. Unfortunately my grandmother did not get to stay there very long because she passed away after a couple weeks of being there. The staff notified us right away and the lady that contacted us was crying as well. I think very highly of Essex House and would recommend to to anyone who needed to go to a nursing home. "

"Commonwealth has a wonderful environment, and friendly and professional staff. They were accommodating. The units were spacious and clean. However, you have to ride elevators, and my mother is very nervous about being on them by herself. "

The facility is beautiful and well maintained. My Mom passed last month and the help and compassion shown by the administration and staff was caring and loving as if it were their own mother. "My mother-in-law did rehab at The Orchard for three weeks. The place was beautiful and it was really clean. She's been there twice, but we weren't that happy with it. The therapy was good. The other staff members were just slow when she rang the bell. They'd put her in the bathroom and then she'd stay there. If she'd ring the bell, it'd take them a long time to come, that sort of thing. They tried to be helpful. Her room was shared. They have a room that has puzzles and they do activities and they make things. They have several nice living rooms where you can come sit in. Some of the staff were good and some of them weren't. The food was pretty good, some of it she didn't like."

"Taylor Farm was the most affordable facility out of the places we looked at, and it had the best care. My dad has been there a couple of weeks now. He gets 24/7 care and they do everything like medication, grooming, feeding, and laundry. The food is the best thing my dad says is there. The rooms are all single rooms. They have a ton of activities. Their price is fair, and there are no surprises because it's all-inclusive."
