"Horizon Bay is a very nice facility. My mom has been there since end of April. They have different levels of care and she's in the memory care area. She loves the staff and they all love her. Her room is a bit bigger, but it is still nice. The facility doesn't smell bad and that was the first thing that attracted us. "

"It is big, it's huge, and it's like a cruise ship. It's very nice, but it had long hallways, and I think elderly people like small settings. It's a nice place and I would recommend them to check it out. It just wasn't our cup of tea. The staff was really good, we looked at the dining area, and it was really nice."

"I chose it because I just liked it better. The rooms are big and very nice. The staff is wonderful, very accommodating, and very friendly -- they are very nice people. We order food from a menu, but it is a limited menu. We have two choices, but the food is very good. They have Bingo, dancing, and Rubiks cube -- there is just something going on all the time. My husband and I are very happy here. We checked out several facilities in the area, but this was by far the best."

"We found Franke, and my mother-in-law will be moving in in September. She's starting out in independent living, but she can graduate to assisted and nursing home if needed in the future. We knew of it because we live here. She had a wonderful visit, and they've been incredibly accommodating, and her apartment is getting fixed up now. The apartment is lovely. All the independent rooms have a porch off the living area, which gives some more square footage and the ability to feel like you're outdoors. To me, the rooms at Franke were far superior. The other thing she liked about it was that she only has to include one meal a day, so that she can eat her breakfast or her lunch in her apartment. She can pick and choose when she eats in the dining room or the cafe. The dining area is lovely, perfect. When she visited, she said the food was better than any restaurant she's been to. They have art classes, book clubs, and they go to symphonies. They have current event clubs and play mahjong. If it's a bit too hot, they have an indoor pool for water aerobics and swimming. They have a huge athletic gym with equipment. They have physical therapy. I think it's very vibrant. It's a community that emphasizes active living, so it's very intellectually and physically stimulating. They do stuff to keep them young and active. "

"Dayspring is a wonderful place. The owners are very caring and loving people and treat the residents as family. The other staff members are very attentive. My family member was there for 9 years and was very happy here. She was previously at another facility for 2 years. Moving her to Dayspring was the best thing. She was so happy here. I recommend them to everyone that is looking for an assisted living facility."

"There was nothing I disliked about Life Care Center of Charleston. It was fine. It was exactly what it was supposed to be. The rehab was good. They took care of my mother. She went basically from rehab to long-term hospice. She only stayed there a week and everything was exactly what it was supposed to be. They were very attentive. They did what they were supposed to do. She was in a double occupancy when she was in rehab and her roommate seemed to be eating her food, and my mom would eat hers when she was hungry, but a lot of times, she wasn't because she was going through the process. They offered rehab equipment. It looks like they have buses to take people out if they want to go out to shop and stuff like that or do some sort of activities. They had an area where they did rehab, but I didn't see anything else. You get what you pay for. Compared to the going rate in the area, it's about the average for the going rate for long-term care. It was good. It was very convenient. A hospital was a block away, so if there was any emergency that needed to be taken care of, they were there in no time. The location was great. There are restaurants and stuff around there."

"It was nice and clean, although it's small. Their staff was extremely friendly. And the activities coordinator seemed to have great ideas and every time we visited, she was definitely engaging. They also showed us their dining area, activity areas, and garden. They have an open-concept dining area, but their rooms were all dark and there were just a couple of rooms with nice light. The people there seemed very engaging."

"I am a resident of The Village at Summerville. I'm very delighted with everything here. The staff is so caring and kind. Everything's just wonderful. The people here are very kind. Some of the residents who have been here for 11 years still say they love it there. So, I think that's a good thing. They changed their chef a few months ago. There have been a few items on their menu. I saw plates go back with the whole meal on it, but for the norm, I see people eating every last thing on their plates. They have different levels of rooms for assisted living. They do have an indoor pool, and my room is about the size of a big hospital room. It's one room with a narrow bathroom and closet, and that's fine. They have bunco. They have a chapel. They had a concert in the chapel the other day. There were selections from classical music to contemporary things, and finally, a Frank Sinatra section where we sang along. They have a very good-sized library with current books and large print and other not as-current books like biographies and non-fiction. The living area has a grand piano in it, and they have people who come and play music once a week or whatever the schedule is. Then several days a week, a woman comes and plays spiritual hymns at 2:00. They list a calendar, and they have so many things on it to do."

"The Retreat at Summerville assisted living was very nice. It looked very clean and the people were very friendly. The residents looked fine and didn't look miserable. What I was looking for, at first, was respite care because we weren't sure about anything yet. They had games, big TVs, exercise rooms and they did exercises with a teacher. The staff was also friendly and nice."

"Mom has been a resident of this community for awhile now. I just want to say Ashley Landing is great. All of the staff is friendly and welcoming. The food is excellent and there is always something going on for the residents to do. What I have noticed most is that it feels like a big family. Based on the price and what I am hearing people pay at other places, this is the only assisted living I would consider. They are very honest and don't trick you by bringing you in on a deal and then increasing your fees. They tell you up front and, from my experience, they stick with it. I am very pleased."
