"We are planning to move my mother to All American Assisted Living at Coram. We're choosing them because of their affordability and the level of care that they offer. I was very impressed, I thought that they were caring, the place was clean, and the residents looked very happy. I didn't see anybody looking like they were angry or sad, everybody looked very well cared for. The staff and employees were very friendly, they went over and above anything that they could do for us. I felt very comfortable there and I got a very good feeling from the place."

"We toured Sunrise of Smithtown, we liked it very much, and we're going back next Wednesday. It just seems very nice, almost like home, it's as close as you can get to it. We were very pleased with it. We saw the lady that was touring us, she was very nice too, and the manager, but I don't remember her name. She was also very nice. The room was very nice, spacious, and very modern. It had a small kitchenette area. It was very nice, more than I expected. It has its own bath. The dining area was beautiful. Everything was perfectly clean to me. It's nearby."

"My father is 94 and always tells me how well he is taken care of. I know when I can not get there to see him they make sure they he gets out for a walk in good weather. They respect his dignity by keeping his mind occupyied by talking to him about things that interest him, like being in the war and where he grew up. They are very respectful of his feelings. A day doesn't go by that I don't thank God for such a wonderful place. "

"Birchwood Suites didn't know I was coming for a tour, but it worked out okay. The fact that we were unexpected, and the staff wasn't prepared, she was fine. She answered all the questions. I think we're in an unusual situation that my mother-in-law doesn't want to leave her room, and they said that would be fine and they could accommodate her. Some of the other little things that we asked about, were fine with those, and they could accommodate them, too. It didn't seem to have as many activities as the other place that we go to now, but the fact that my mother-in-law doesn't come out of her room doesn't make any difference on whatever activities they have. They have apartments, but my mother-in-law wouldn't be able to use them. Because the apartments don't get the same kind of attention and care that she would need like medication checking and help with the shower and stuff like that. So she would stay in the main building where most of the staff is located rather than in the independent apartments. The building looked like it was well taken care of, and it was pretty. It's an old building. It's got character on the outside, and it's nice looking. I don't see why anyone would be uncomfortable with it. Even though there's a main road outside, it's blocked by trees. It's in a residential area. It's not in a business area at all. So it's perfectly appropriate."

"Divine Serenity Assisted Living looked like it was a residence that they converted to individual rooms. The time I was there, as far as I know, the residents were either on a trip or going to the doctor, so there were no residents there. The lady showed me the area where they would be doing work in the building. She also showed me a room. She answered all my questions. She told me how they take care of the residents. They have a nurse that comes in and a doctor. If the resident has to take medicine they take care of that too."

"Everything about it was good. I came away with no negatives. The staff were helpful, friendly, and answered any questions. They told us things we didn't even realize. They had plenty of activities for you to do. They had the courtyard, the gym, the rec hall, and the room for movies."

"It was very difficult moving my Dad out of his home but Christian Fellowship House doesn’t feel institutional, the entire staff was so loving and the surrounding backyard is so beautiful. My Dad enjoyed sitting outside surrounded by the beauty of the grounds during the warmer months. He was well cared and I highly recommend CFH."

"I toured Amber Court of Westbury for my mom. It looks like a great community. It was very clean. The people were friendly, too. They have an area where they go and watch movies, and they do different activities. We saw a couple of people playing bingo. They also have a large outside seating area so they can go outside. It's a very, very beautiful place. The staff who toured me was friendly and knowledgeable."

"We put my mother-in-law in The Arbors Westbury. The community is very friendly, and her room is a fair size, and very clean. They have a lot of activities from morning until night, including bridge, bingo, live entertainment, and crafts. They kind of have it all, including trips outside the community. The food is very good, and she has no complaints about the food. They provide plenty of it and they're very attentive to her. They have a library, a TV/ movie room, there are constant activities in the break room, and they have gardens. She's adjusting and seems to be doing very well. The dining area is very nice, it's clean, and a large area with a restaurant atmosphere. The staff is very friendly, the rooms are spotless, and the whole place is very clean. The community is very friendly to her and to the children of the seniors. I would rate the activities a four because they're constantly busy. It's affordable, and the level of care, cleanliness, and everything makes it a good package."

"What a beautiful community, they have kept our family member safe while providing wonderful care and lots of activities. Such an amazing, thoughtful and considerate staff."

"Brand new facility (though clearly managed by an experienced team), extremely clean and upscale without feeling too fussy. The rooms were relatively spacious with good-sized closets and modern bathrooms, though the showers were fairly small. We toured primarily the secured "Currents" floor (moderate-to-late stage dementia) and were extremely impressed by the connection staff had with the residents (greeting each other by first name, lots of smiles and affection). The facility allows someone to age in place - so barring any extreme nursing requirements, residents would not have to move into a skilled nursing facility. Residents appeared to be extremely engaged (on various levels) with personalized activities, a visiting pet for therapy, word games, etc - multiple activities happening, but it didn't feel too busy or potentially overwhelming for a dementia resident. We didn't taste the "farm-to-table" food, but by reputation it's amazing. They also pride themselves on having an RN onsite 24/7, and a "brain center" where residents work with computers that have special programs for cognitively impaired residents. Overall, the community felt incredibly welcoming - I would have no concerns about my mom living here. It's definitely on our short list. "
