The Best Assisted Living Communities in Atlantic County, NJ

"A friend of mine was over at Villa Raffaella Assisted Living. She was at the assisted living and then she progressed to needing more care. The community was immaculate, it was very clean and very warm. The employees were just very caring. They always had a smile on their faces when they checked in on my friend. I would be there for 2 hours, maybe 3 at the most, and they would have checked in with her twice just to see everything. She also said the food was great. They had activities every morning and every afternoon. They also had mass and they did the rosary, so there was plenty to do. They even got to know me coming, they knew who I was going to visit, and there was always a big hello. Everything about it, to me, was very appealing. I said if I needed to go somewhere, that would be my first choice."

"I have visited more than one person who has resided here. I have also visited other local places, and this one ranks with the best. I probably should have given 5-stars, but I'm being a little stingy with the stars because there is always room for improvement. My main criteria for this type of place is the "smell test". When I walk into any type of institutional setting, but especially one where care is given to senior citizens, the 1st thing that I notice are the smells. Sea Shore Gardens passed that test with flying colors. Even-though it was around Dinner time when I last visited, there were no unpleasant aromas, really no odors at all, which is just how I like it! Everyone that I have visited at Seashore Gardens has been cared-for respectfully and appropriately from what I observed. The nurses are compassionate with family members as well. All-around an excellent environment for loved-ones and family who need the extra help. "

"Brandywine Living at Brandall Estates is very lovely. It's a beautiful place and well cared for; however, their price was very high. The rooms were lovely. They were large. They had kitchenettes. The lobby was large, and they had staircases going up on two sides, which formed a balcony on that top floor and it was kept very well. I met the woman who was the activities director, and she was lovely. The people there seemed very, very happy. It was well-appointed. The girl who took me around was very knowledgeable. It was a lovely place, but it was more money than any other place. That was the drawback. I was very impressed. Several gentlemen were sitting outside, talking, laughing, and joking. That's why I went there on my own, because I saw this and I said, 'Gee, these people seem very happy here, let me go see what it's all about.' And yes, they have reason to be happy. It's a very lovely place. They had very caring staff."

"As your illness or need changes, there are different levels of care that can be obtained for a price at United Methodist. It’s clean and well-maintained, and it’s off the main street and accessible. The apartment was very nice for a 1 bedroom and decent size; you wouldn’t feel cramped. It seemed to be excessive at $6000 a month. The staff seemed friendly and knowledgeable though. "

"My husband was a resident for 2 weeks, everyone there took great care of him, big shout out to Pam,she went above and beyond to help us,the nurses and aids did and got anything you asked of them,the food was okay,but staffing was great, I would take him back there if he needs rehabilitation again,thank You for everything the room is nice,my husband enjoyed his therapy said everyone made it fun "

"My mother is at New Standard Senior Living at Hammonton. She is doing well. When we went to visit, she liked the activities and the staff, so it has just worked out. They have a lot of activities. They have private rooms, so no one has to share a room. That was a major point. So that really was a big thing. Also, they have very friendly staff. They have some diversity, but not a lot. However, the staff members are helpful. They seem to be addressing her needs. I didn't eat anything, but I was able to see their food, and I talked to my mom, and she said it's very good. It's very clean, and maintenance is very helpful. They even helped my mom put things on her wall and things like that. They have bingo nights where they have cocktails. They have arts and crafts. They have a lot of activities."

"New Standard Senior Living at Millville was new, so everything was in good shape. The facility was clean. The residents seemed well cared for. It wasn't as homey, so it was kind of sterile-looking, like there was very little artwork on the walls. It's just pretty basic. It was light and bright. I saw the staff member interacting with the residents. When we walked into the room, a lot of the residents waved. The staff waved back at them, like the residents obviously recognized her and saw her as a friend. They had an activities director, and they seemed to have a full calendar. They had three or four activities a day on their calendar. They had a gym and a hair salon. There weren't TVs in the common areas where they could watch TV together."

"My father has been there for going on 5 years now. The care has been excellent over the entire period. The place is clean, everyone engages with the residents the food is good. I would highly recommend Southern Ocean Center. "

"J C Plaza seemed really nice. The staff during my visit were nice. They were quick to answer. It was convenient, as it was right down the road from us. "

"The rehab I did at Millville Center wasn't much. They were supposed to rehab me for my right leg, but it was nothing more than getting your blood circulating. It wasn't helping me at all. They had a nurse practitioner there and she didn't respond well to my needs. Some of the staff also didn't respond to my needs, so I wouldn't recommend that place. My accommodation wasn't bad in that respect but I ended up being on long-term, and I had a roommate, and I didn't like that guy. They have an activity room where they had some guest musicians and arts and crafts activities."
