"We always enjoyed visiting Duluth as kids, and our grandmother feels the same way about the region. So on a visit recently, we decided to check out some assisted living options for her in the area. Lakeland Shores is a nice facility with one bedroom private apartments that have living areas and small kitchens. They also have some single bedroom style housing available for those who desire or need it. All of the rooms that we saw were well kept, nicely decorated and clean. The shared areas for socializing are located in convenient areas where all of the residents have access to them. The activities we saw ranged from games to reading and exercising. They regularly take the residents on multiple weekly outings which is important to us. Our grandmother is very social and enjoys getting out as much as possible. The foods offered looked nutritious and the menus were varied. Lots of snacks are offered on a regular basis, and residents may request food at any time they like. It was clear that the residents here were content and well fed - both physically, mentally and spiritually. "

"What I like the most about Mount Royal Pines III is its location. The staff is wonderful, and my dad's accommodations are excellent. Their facility is very nice, and apparently the menu is very good. They have scheduled activities, and they could either deliver your meals to your room or you could eat in the dining room. They have a daily nurse check, cleaning, laundry, and all of the things that you get with assisted living. It is located close to restaurants, the library, the grocery store, the post office, the bank, and all of the critical items that you may need, plus it's easy for me to get there."

"My Mother was a resident in Safe Harbor, the dementia unit there. The staff in the dementia area were wonderful. We were very impressed with the way that they took care of her specific needs and changed her care as her needs changed. The staff demonstrated a caring attitude to Mom and the other residents there. Her room looked over some pine trees and looked similar to her yard at her home. There was a lovely patio and garden for residents to enjoy also. I would recommend the facility highly. "

"Lenox Place assisted living facility was one that we visited while in the Duluth, MN region looking at places for our aunt. The exterior was lovely an well maintained and the grounds beautifully landscaped. The tree-lined walkways were safe and easy to navigate. This community rooms included a library and many more place for the seniors to participate in many stimulating activities. They can easily handle any ambulation level very well. The residents could safely navigate the lovely grounds for exercise as well as use the exercise center for daily yoga and aerobics exercise classes. The dining room had plenty of space with nice furnishings. The food looked and smelled delicious. The menus included many food options for all diets. Healthy snacks are offered all day, as well as whenever residents request them. The private living spaces were generous with very nice furnishings and decor and plenty of fresh air and natural light. The many planned activities feature interesting ways to exercise, book readings, arts and crafts and many cultural events. The residents are taken to many interesting cultural events in Duluth, as well as the surrounding areas. The staff was kind and caring to all of the residents and it was evident that they enjoyed their living environments very much. "

"We toured. The apartment would have been fine for a couple. What we were looking for was a real apartment. Where we can do cooking and stuff without meals. The staff answered all of our questions and everything. The facility was clean. People we saw there were hanging out, they all seemed to be just fine. I think that because it's assisted living, the facility is just fine for somebody looking for that kind of facility. It would have been nice to have seen more space for people to sit and stuff like that, and to have more of a recreation area, but otherwise, it was fine."

"The facility was really nice. It was a four bedroom two story home with two bathrooms. It had its own laundry area and had a good amount of room for the clients to move around in. It had a good amount of accommodations as well. But the staff could be a hit and miss. Some staff truly cared about their clients and watched out for their health. On other times, some staff members would only view this as "another job". But there was a good guideline set for each worker, and goals to accomplish every day. There was also projects and special occasions where the clients were permitted to go out in the town. It is a good facility that has good intentions. "

"The rooms at Keystone Bluffs were spacious. The dining area was nice, but we didn’t eat there. The staff was nice to us when they were showing us around. "

They planned activities that helped her to keep her mind active and other activities to enable her to move her body in an enjoyable and safe manner. Placing her there was the absolute right decision!"
