I'm living at The Crest (Ecumen), and it's fabulous, if you can afford it. The rent goes up every year, and they charge extra for telephones, special TVs, and a garage. It's a great apartment for multi-millionaires. They have excellent amenities, they have a dining room, you can have food brought to your apartment, they have a gift shop, and an exercise room.

I visited Ecumen Lakeshore, they have independent and assisted living and memory care. The assisted living and memory care all have their individual apartments. The apartments in assisted living had all sorts of bells and whistles, like their own temperature control, food, and cleaning. They had a gym, a dining room, a little grab-and-go kitchen, and a meeting room. The staff who took me on the tour was very nice and professional. When we were there, they were getting ready for coffee hour with cookies. They also had a chapel and exercise program which anybody can go to. I also saw them doing yoga.

My aunt was a long time resident of Lakeshore Assisted Living facility in Duluth,MN. Since I am a big fan of that city anyway I loved the location. The other thing that surprised me was the view from my aunt's room. Lake Superior was below and you could see the lift bridge and the huge ships come in and hear the fog horns in the mornings. You could not ask for a better view. The staff was amazing each time I would visit. After awhile they would remember me and talk to me when I would come in. Lakeshore does have short stay and rehab facilities as well as long term assisted living. There are lakeshore apartments and townhomes and there are tons of services and activities that the residents can do there. My aunt said that the food was great and that she loved the staff as well. She loved living there and never had a negative thing to say about it.
