"Dirigo Pines is near Bangor. They have good transportation to Bangor, a nice library, a pond, a billiard table, and all kinds of things that older people can do in the community. They have an apartment with a full kitchen in it. If you want it, they have an extra room, which you can use as your own library or computer room if you want it separate. They allow pets, too. The person who took us around was very good. We had a noon meal, and it was excellent. Everything was outstanding. I really liked it. I would recommend them. The staff was very attentive. The cleanliness was excellent. The main entrance was very nice, very comfortable, and homey."

"We have moved my husband into Winterberry Heights Assisted Living. It seems very efficient. The only thing is that we had to furnish the room ourselves, which was quite a pain in the neck. But we did do that, and we are still bringing stuff in there. But it's very, very nice. It's very quiet; you can hear a pin drop in there. There's an elevator (thank God) because his room is on the second floor. They supply toilet paper and paper towels. No stove in the room. They have a microwave, a sink, cupboards, and nice big closets, which is very important. The bathroom has a showerhead. I think cable TV is included in the price. Meals are included. Three times a day, they get meals. They have snacks, too. The noonday meal is the largest one, and it was very good. The place is very clean. They have activities. Right next door to my husband's room is a pool table. They have exercise equipment, too, and he is going to have some physical therapy. They usually require the people that live there to go down to the dining area, but since the COVID that they have, they are eating in their room right now. It's also a lot cheaper than when he was in the rehab facility. This one is probably $500 to 600 cheaper a month. "

"My sister is at the facility due to MS. She has received excellent care and the facility has done an exemplary job fighting against this pandemic. Bless all the staff at the facility for your loving care."

"Sylvia Ross Home at Ross Manor is very attractive, very welcoming, and very clean. My friend has been there for about six months now and she's very pleased. They have great care. They come in and do vitals, and you can stay there and graduate into more serious health issues. It's right there, so you don't have to go off and find another place. The food is good. She loves it. There's always some kind of entertainment going on. The fact is, I'm jealous of what she has. Nobody entertains me or washes my floors. They do everything for you. She's got a washer and dryer in her room and a nice bathroom. It's a one-bedroom, and it's very pleasant, very sunshiny, and lovely. The staff is excellent and knowledgeable. The only complaint my friend has that lives there is that the directory is missing. It tells you where a person is, and it's hard for people to come to find somebody. Other than that, everything's good. They do different things. They have bingo. She had to give up her car when she went there, and it was hard to do some of the things that she was used to doing, like having her hair done. They went beyond the call of duty to get her to places that she needed to go. I've been to some of the things that they've had there. I think that she's happy, and her brother oversees her money, and he's satisfied with what she gets for her money."

"My parents are in Sylvia Ross Home (Ross Manor). They are in assisted living situation presently, although my mother has oncoming dementia. The facility does have graduated care, which includes a memory care wing. The facility and the care are pretty much more than I expected. It's very beautiful. They're in good hands. There's continual daily activities. It's like a 5-star hotel."

"I visited a loved one at Phillips-Strickland House in Bangor. She was in their assisted living wing and they had very kind and caring people from everything that I have seen there. I've only been over probably 3 times because of COVID. It would have been a year ago since my last visit. The physical appearance of it was fine. It looked very clean, very well kept, and painted well. As far as the wings go, I believe there were 6 rooms attached to a living room, and then, of course, that leads into where the big dining area is for everybody on that floor. It's a great setup. They can eat in their rooms if they're feeling that way or they can eat at the dining table. They take great care of them and she's been happy. I've never tasted the food but she claims it's very, very good. She's a great cook, so she would know. The activities were very good too and the residents enjoyed them. They do light physical exercises."
