"Solstice Senior Living at Bangor seemed like a very active, happy place. A lot of people were sitting outside and chatting. Several people had personal pets. There was a band playing when we went in. The lady who ran the place knew everybody's name and everybody knew her. The residents all seemed really happy and engaged. They have a lot of activities. They have get-togethers every Friday night, a library that's run by the residents, a well-stocked gym, and several different types of rooms available. The facility is very bright and welcoming. They have several different types of meal options. Residents have their own vehicles. Just for our needs, that would probably be the one we chose."

"Dirigo Pines is a beautiful campus with caring and attentive staff. Keeping my family member safe during COVID is a number one concern and they've done it wonderfully!"

"I visited a loved one at Phillips-Strickland House in Bangor. She was in their assisted living wing and they had very kind and caring people from everything that I have seen there. I've only been over probably 3 times because of COVID. It would have been a year ago since my last visit. The physical appearance of it was fine. It looked very clean, very well kept, and painted well. As far as the wings go, I believe there were 6 rooms attached to a living room, and then, of course, that leads into where the big dining area is for everybody on that floor. It's a great setup. They can eat in their rooms if they're feeling that way or they can eat at the dining table. They take great care of them and she's been happy. I've never tasted the food but she claims it's very, very good. She's a great cook, so she would know. The activities were very good too and the residents enjoyed them. They do light physical exercises."

"I took a woman over to Ellen M. Leach Memorial Hom. It was a very nice, beautiful place, and the food was excellent. I visited several places and this was one of the better ones. Parking was a major problem, though; they didn?t have a garage for her car either. I thought the woman who runs it was absolutely excellent, showed real concern, and went above and beyond while we were there. The apartment was small for her furniture. They had a beautiful library. It was an elegant place with all kinds of positive services for her. I couldn?t say enough good things about it. If she wanted a place to go, this is where she might go. The people who lived there seemed very happy. They had all kinds of activities and someone who takes them to the doctor. We had lunch there, and the meals were out of this world. I would recommend it. They had all kinds of services, including nursing services, as part of the fee; you?re not paying extra. And you won?t have to move out if for some reason you run low on money. They?ll put you on a different scale where you get the same things but for a lower fee."

"We looked at an apartment in Avalon Village. It was too small and on the third floor, but we didn't want to climb to the third floor. They have apartments, duplexes, and little houses in the village. We waited quite a while to see it, but then when we saw it, we were very disappointed. The apartment wasn't clean, and the rugs were stained. It didn't ring a bell with us. The staff was very nice. They sent us a packet, but sadly, we didn't get much information. It was a quick 'yes and no,' and that was it."
