Assisted Living Communities in Cumberland Foreside, ME

"My friend moved into Plant Memorial Home a week ago. The administration there is fantastic. They helped with every step of the process. It's a very homey place. It's more like being in your own home. The location is beautiful, and the people are wonderful. They really care about the residents. The medical attention they show him has been excellent. They're on top of his medication, his physical therapy, and occupational therapy needs. They have been very communicative with me any time they had a question or I had a question. His apartment is clean, bright, and cheerful. The floors are brand new. They have big, spacious, and handicapped accessible bathrooms. They have a kitchenette. It is freshly painted. He has a stunning view of the river. My friend says that the food is excellent. He loves to eat, so the food must really be good. I ate there the day I moved my friend in, and the food was excellent. He enjoys socializing with other people in the common room. They have a movie every night after dinner. People can go down and watch TV during the day, if they want to. They do trivia, and they have a pastor that comes for Christian services. They organize outings. They can go to the grocery store on the bus once a week, and they can go to Wal-Mart once a month. They have an exercise class. Last time I was there, I saw a bunch of paintings that the residents had done at a painting class."

"My in-law was welcomed to the Heron House, and staff does whatever they can do to make her comfortable . The level of caregiving is very high. Meals are very important to seniors and every effort is made to provide nutritious DELICIOUS meal.s. The chef goes out of their way to provide special requests. The Heron House is a comfortable, relaxed environment. Activities like Bingo and music are available. The family-like atmosphere is warm and welcoming. "

"If I wanted to put anyone in a facility that needs help with Alzheimer's disease I would admit them to Sedgewood Commons just like I have with my Husband. The staff have been wonderful and friendly and very helpful with my husband and with me. When I leave after visiting with him I have every confidence he is being well cared for. "

"Falmouth by the Sea was a very small facility. The rooms were lovely. The refrigerators were small, but they were willing to work with the individual to assist with that and if something else was needed. I didn't see much going on there. They had had a COVID breakout, so they were keeping things pretty locked down. I didn't see a lot of people out and about like I did at another facility. Things were pretty quiet. The staff I met were wonderful though."

"Oceanview is absolutely gorgeous. It is in the woods. They have a memory center, and they have all of the free standing buildings for retirees. It is a beautiful area. Everyone is wonderful there. The apartment is spacious and very nice. They have activities -- like the people go on and off the buses because they have been out to enjoy whatever they want to be involved in. They had arts & crafts. It is a very nice place. What impresses me is that it is in a very nice area; it is right behind where I live now, and there are a lot of grounds that you can walk on. "

"The staff at Freeport Place were the best thing about it. They were friendly and extremely patient, as my mother was not an easy person to care for or get along with, and would pick favorites and enemies. But all the staff treated her with respect and friendliness (if wary at times) despite her unfriendliness to some of them. Freeport Place had good food every day, and some days it was excellent. It was always clean and the decor, which leaned toward country blues and floral themes, was peaceful and cozy without being too institutional-looking. I was never worried about my mother's care there. I also enjoyed being able to take my mother out and bring her back at whatever hours we chose, with a very simple signout procedure. I liked that I could always see staff present and alert at whatever time I came in or out. Also, I appreciated the personal attention given to me by the staff, including offering to bring me tea or snacks at off hours, such as when my mom and I were watching TV in her room together. "

"Fallbrook Woods was very nice but not at all homey. The staff was fine and very technically oriented and sophisticated. I could feel that it was more a business rather than a care facility. They were very business-like. I didn't get to see any of the individual rooms because they were too busy to show them to me that day, and I just felt like the public areas were very crowded. "

"I knew someone at The Cedars and they showed me their unit and I discussed with them what they thought of the place. It's a little pricey, but it's excellent. It could be a little warmer, but the windows in the unit were well designed and well presented, and they could give you good exposure to the sun and to daylight. I liked the cleanliness."

"This is the fourth time I've been at Seaside. This time I am here for nursing home care since I injured my cervical spine in a fall 3 1/2 years ago. I have received great care here. The physical therapy department is topnotch, the nurses are professional, and transportation is provided to all my appointments. Due to COVID, the facility is short-staffed, but the CNA's have worked long and busy hours to meet our needs, and they have done so admirably. I love my room and the friends I have made here, and I'm happy to be here. "

"My mother wanted to be in this facility as she new someone there that she grew up with. Following through with her wishes and worried about many bad reviews we went ahead with moving in. I also have many concerns with nursing care not returning ph calls and you cant get though often at many times.my family is very appreciated of the activity dept.as they have a wide variety of option for many diff. Residents. I had on different occassion seen how happy the residents are with the activity girl. The comfort, energy,and happiness shows she loves her job. My mother has changed for the better please have staff follow her good example "

"My father was at Stroudwater Lodge. It was a great place for him. I just wish he could have stayed longer to enjoy it. It was an amazing place. I would have stayed there myself. They just had so many amenities, like the restaurant, the type of food in there, a social lounge, and a movie theater. They just had so many things to do for them every day. If he called for them, they would be right there. They did things for him that weren't asked and stuff that was not expected of them to do. They just helped me out amazingly. The place was amazing. They call it The Lodge because it looked like a ski lodge. You walked in, and there's a big grand entrance and restaurants there. There were people actually walking around with smiles on their faces, so it looked like they enjoyed themselves being there. I can't say more; I just wish my father would have enjoyed it himself. They listed the activities on the boards every morning or posted it right there on front. Because of COVID, we couldn't eat there. They couldn't do that stuff. Before they said yes, you could come in and eat with him and stuff. I would have loved to do that, but the food that they brought my father was amazing. It was like a restaurant. You get to pick a couple of choices, and it was good stuff."

"I am very pleased with Stroudwater Lodge. I have viewed many others, but I find this place to be very welcoming. It offers what we are looking for. "

"My mother-in-law was in Springbrook Center for rehab and I got a frantic call that she was unresponsive and rushed to the hospital and that she had almost died. She had fallen there and nobody told us. It's not recorded in her medical notes. We had a horrible experience there. Her room was sparse, but it was clean. When you walked into the facility, it smelled like urine and like a toilet. She had a private room and her own bathroom, and it was very nice. We had one nurse's aide that was very good. She was always in her room by herself and she watched television in her room by herself. It looked to me like they had not done much maintenance. They just clean it and that's it. It's in need of some help."

"My brother has lived here for five years. The owners and family run it and they are very kind people. The place has a very calm feeling to it. This is a two hundred year old building with a lot of charm. The wrap around porch has many flower baskets and is a wonderful place to sit and look over the manicured grounds. The staff is very caring and helpful.It's crucial to have competent staff and Windham Residential Care has this. I visit my brother often and have observed the staff interacting with residents in a respectful and competent manner."
