"My friend moved into Plant Memorial Home a week ago. The administration there is fantastic. They helped with every step of the process. It's a very homey place. It's more like being in your own home. The location is beautiful, and the people are wonderful. They really care about the residents. The medical attention they show him has been excellent. They're on top of his medication, his physical therapy, and occupational therapy needs. They have been very communicative with me any time they had a question or I had a question. His apartment is clean, bright, and cheerful. The floors are brand new. They have big, spacious, and handicapped accessible bathrooms. They have a kitchenette. It is freshly painted. He has a stunning view of the river. My friend says that the food is excellent. He loves to eat, so the food must really be good. I ate there the day I moved my friend in, and the food was excellent. He enjoys socializing with other people in the common room. They have a movie every night after dinner. People can go down and watch TV during the day, if they want to. They do trivia, and they have a pastor that comes for Christian services. They organize outings. They can go to the grocery store on the bus once a week, and they can go to Wal-Mart once a month. They have an exercise class. Last time I was there, I saw a bunch of paintings that the residents had done at a painting class."

"The staff at Heron House are so welcoming !!! A wonderful place with dedicated people. Everyone works together to keep it such a special place for those that are lucky enough to find it !!! "

"My mother was a resident for 5 months until her passing. The staff were very and attentive to my mother and our families needs. Mom was very well cared for. I had great comfort in knowing she was safe and every need was met. Mom loved the food and was happy there. This facility was a blessing when I could no longer care for her at home."

"My father has been moved in to Foreside Harbor for a week now. We have another relative that has been there for two years, so we were very pleased that they had an opening as we are familiar there. The rooms and apartments are beautiful, spacious, and clean. I went over there for lunch today. I had seafood Alfredo, and it was very good. The dining room is beautiful. It’s right on the ocean and has a beautiful view. The people in the dining room are kind of like waiters and waitresses; they really attend to everybody’s needs. They also know the people’s dietary restriction. If somebody orders something that they are not supposed to have, then they’re on that as well. They have a lot of entertainment that comes in, people that do lectures, play games, and movies. They have a lady there with a van, and she does shopping, they have tours, and they have arts and crafts. I think the security and safety is excellent. The price sucks you out, but they are right in tune with everybody else. "

"I liked the fact that Ocean View at Falmouth was large and that they had a lot of activities going on. They sent out emails on updating things and they seemed to be on top of everything. The only problem I have with that place is that it's too expensive. They were wonderful and they had everything. Their rooms had some interesting layouts. They were very nice. The atmosphere was very uplifting. I liked the fact that it's on the water too."

"We found Fallbrook Woods. It fit our needs for our aunt, and intake went very smoothly. So far everything's good. It hasn't been that long, just three weeks. The interaction with the staff has been over the phone, email, and text. Everything, has been very congenial. It's been very convenient. All the interaction has been quite exceptional. I know they have exercise classes. They have gardening and a library."

"I knew someone at The Cedars and they showed me their unit and I discussed with them what they thought of the place. It's a little pricey, but it's excellent. It could be a little warmer, but the windows in the unit were well designed and well presented, and they could give you good exposure to the sun and to daylight. I liked the cleanliness."

"I have been a nurse for 38 years, and found myself a post operative lumbar spinal fusion with a husband not well enough to care for me. I requested a rehabilitation center near my home in Portland. Seaside was the center closest. I was there twelve days, and the only thing I can find to complain about was the food. EVERY person involved in my care was OUTSTANDING! From the RN's to the cleaning staff... every single person, every single day, evening, and night. I was treated with respect, dignity and kindness by everyone I met. The nurses and CNA's are very dedicated, often working extra hours and shifts. In my experience, people don't have that kind of work ethic unless they love their jobs! I can't thank the people there enough for their excellence in my care. "

"I had read the reviews before I toured with my mother and was honestly expecting the worst. I have to say that I was very impressed! The Portland Center was very clean and a number of the residents stopped to talk with my mother as they recognized her from elderly apartments. There was choir practice going on in one room and Bingo in another room. I looked in a few rooms and though clean and neat, the shared rooms are livable but small. They did have some construction going on during our visit, but we were told ahead of time what to expect. My mother decided that she's not ready for facility living, but we would probably choose Portland Center when she's ready. Thank you."

"I've toured several places. The one I like the best is Stroudwater Lodge in Westbrook. First of all, I liked the staff. It seemed to be well staffed. All the staff seemed to be friendly. They have OT, PT, and speech therapy right on site. They're full time there, so I like that a lot. Leah who took me around greeted every one of the residents we met by name. A couple of the residents spoke to us and said they loved it there, so that would be the first thing. I liked the facility. I like that they have a lot of activities geared towards seniors. For my friend, one of the things that was especially good is that the chef will do gluten free, which some places can't accommodate. I like the location. It's in the woods, and there is a Portland trail (a really nice walking path right next to it). In fact, you can go through the largest patio to get to the walking trail, and it's easy. It's a wide path. It's fairly easy walking, so I like that a lot. They just seem to meet the needs of the people that were there. They look at it as their job is to fit the client, not the client to fit them. They provided us with a take-out meal, which was excellent. It's big (which might not appeal to everybody), but it's very comfortable. All of the activity rooms, exercise rooms, and everything was very nice. The apartments were lovely."

"My Aunt spent 9 months there with so much love and dignity given to her daily. Today would of been her 82nd birthday. Last year she celebrated her Birthday on the Summer unit. She was surrounded by so much love and it was one of her best birthdays in years. I am forever grateful for the kindness,love and care my Aunt Roberta received. Staff shows so much love and dedication. Management walks the talk and is very amazing and approachable. I recommend this facility to everyone . I have been in healthcare since 1985. No worries if you put your loved one there. They will truly love and respect them. I will be forever grateful to them. Kelly Yattaw"

"My mother-in-law was in Springbrook Center for rehab and I got a frantic call that she was unresponsive and rushed to the hospital and that she had almost died. She had fallen there and nobody told us. It's not recorded in her medical notes. We had a horrible experience there. Her room was sparse, but it was clean. When you walked into the facility, it smelled like urine and like a toilet. She had a private room and her own bathroom, and it was very nice. We had one nurse's aide that was very good. She was always in her room by herself and she watched television in her room by herself. It looked to me like they had not done much maintenance. They just clean it and that's it. It's in need of some help."

"My brother has lived here for five years. The owners and family run it and they are very kind people. The place has a very calm feeling to it. This is a two hundred year old building with a lot of charm. The wrap around porch has many flower baskets and is a wonderful place to sit and look over the manicured grounds. The staff is very caring and helpful.It's crucial to have competent staff and Windham Residential Care has this. I visit my brother often and have observed the staff interacting with residents in a respectful and competent manner."
