"Huntington Common is probably the second choice to the one we picked. I was impressed with everything there. I found it to be a very welcoming facility and very adequate. The staff members that I met were very friendly and knowledgeable. I would have preferred a room that has a little bit brighter interior. What they had available was adequate, just not as great as I wanted for my mom. I saw some of the amenities and some of their activities as well, like an exercise class. The outdoor spaces were pleasant."

" From the Management in Marketing, the Business office and Nursing, along with their staff; you will find some of the most caring and genuine individuals you will ever work with. They are truly interested in their residents and , their families. They readily answer questions, and even pose some of their own to insure you get the support that your loved ones need. Everyone is welcoming and friendly. The facility itself is attractively decorated and beautifully maintained. I feel my family member is well cared for, happy and safe."

"Mother is doing fine in Highlands -- they're wonderful and very welcoming. We had lunch with her there, instead of a formal assessment, and that was really nice. They've got Bingo, arts stuff, and they take residents swimming in the next lodge and use the weights room. They keep a watchful eye without letting the residents know. They have lots of things going on and they're going to be having duck tours. The staff is very friendly. The menu is lovely, with really yummy food you can order from a menu. The dining area is lovely and looks like a restaurant. It's competitively priced."

"We visited Clover Health Care. We toured the dining facilities and all three of their services. They're comparable to the other facilities. It's a restaurant style. The rooms are the same size as the other facility, except for the memory care, where you have an option of either a companion or a private room. It's well-maintained, and they're in the process of renovating, so they're making improvements. They're definitely investing in the infrastructure. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and pleasant to deal with. There are parking lots for both residents and visitors, so there is no problem with parking for residents or visitors."

"Stroudwater Lodge was a brand new place and very deluxe. The room that I saw was furnished, very nice, and very plush. The locks looked like a hotel room. The staff gave us a great tour, and they were very accommodating. We had a sandwich, and it was very good."

"The employees of Stroudwater Lodge were so kind and friendly. The apartments were beautiful. It was very neat, clean, bright, and had an open layout. They also have laundry, housekeeping, and you can get food basically whenever you want or need. They have a nice outdoor space, patio chairs, and tables. There were a lot of activities going on that you could choose to join or not. They have a grocery shopping day where they take them to the grocery store, and typically, prior to COVID, they would go out and get ice cream."

"My mother-in-law was in Springbrook Center for rehab and I got a frantic call that she was unresponsive and rushed to the hospital and that she had almost died. She had fallen there and nobody told us. It's not recorded in her medical notes. We had a horrible experience there. Her room was sparse, but it was clean. When you walked into the facility, it smelled like urine and like a toilet. She had a private room and her own bathroom, and it was very nice. We had one nurse's aide that was very good. She was always in her room by herself and she watched television in her room by herself. It looked to me like they had not done much maintenance. They just clean it and that's it. It's in need of some help."

"The only place I visited was the HarborChase of South Portland. The staff there was friendly and welcoming. They showed me around. The only reason we didn't choose it was because it was brand new, and we needed somebody to be there for my father daily because of his issues that he had. They actually showed me the memory care, which I didn't want that at first because he wasn't a threat or anything like that. He just needed to have somebody check on him. He can dress himself and all that stuff; that's why we wanted more of an assisted, instead of more like a nursing home (which is what the memory care is to me). I just kind of walked through, and there were just barely a few people there. The staff showed me two or three places in there where they could eat, and they were all really nice places. They have activities and stuff like that daily."

"My mother wanted to be in this facility as she new someone there that she grew up with. Following through with her wishes and worried about many bad reviews we went ahead with moving in. I also have many concerns with nursing care not returning ph calls and you cant get though often at many times.my family is very appreciated of the activity dept.as they have a wide variety of option for many diff. Residents. I had on different occassion seen how happy the residents are with the activity girl. The comfort, energy,and happiness shows she loves her job. My mother has changed for the better please have staff follow her good example "

"My brother has moved into the Inn at Village Square. We like it very much. It's only like 32 rooms, so it's small. The staff is very good with the residents. They have good coverage. The administrator is good. She knows what she's doing. The nursing staff is very attentive. My brother loves the food. The accommodations are very clean. They're very good as far as their interactions with their residents. They have activities all the time and we're invited, his family, regularly. All the residents seem very happy. They seem to take good care of them. The nursing staff is very competent. The facility itself is very clean and well-maintained. They are easy to deal with. If you ask them questions, they're really quick to give you an answer. There are no delays. Everything is good. I have no complaints. We've had several meals there and all were good. They have a very good selection of food. I have no complaints. My brother has put on like 7 pounds, which probably isn't a good thing, but it's an indication of what he thinks of the food. They're busy every day. They usually have two or three activities a day, and you get to pick and choose what you want to do. They're not just activities, but they're good activities. It is expensive. I think it's $7300 a month, but I don't know how that compares to other assisted living as far as pricing goes. He's getting his money's worth and that's probably why he gets such good care, because they can afford to keep good staff and it makes a difference. They're doing a good job taking care of my brother."

"Fallbrook Woods was very nice but not at all homey. The staff was fine and very technically oriented and sophisticated. I could feel that it was more a business rather than a care facility. They were very business-like. I didn't get to see any of the individual rooms because they were too busy to show them to me that day, and I just felt like the public areas were very crowded. "

"The facility is well cared for and clean, staff is in tune with the needs of the elderly and their ilnesses and go out of their way to make them feel loved and cared for, food is good, daily activities vary. The staff is very responsive to my requests and supports me as well because they understand the stres of family members as well. They provide different levels of care depending on the need of the individual and communicate effectively with me about my parents' needs. They also help me find solutions to issues. I highly recommend the Osher Inn. I must say it is not cheap but I feel the care my parents get is worth it. Another key factor in my decision to relocate my parents to the Osher is that they are connected (literally) to the nursing home run by the Cedars in Portland so if one of them needs to be moved, they could still get together with a minimum of trouble. In fact when Mom got out of the hospital and was put into the nursing home to help her recover, the staff of both facilities were very helpful in making sure my Father was able to spend as much time with her as he wished. They even had his meals sent to her room! "

"This is the fourth time I've been at Seaside. This time I am here for nursing home care since I injured my cervical spine in a fall 3 1/2 years ago. I have received great care here. The physical therapy department is topnotch, the nurses are professional, and transportation is provided to all my appointments. Due to COVID, the facility is short-staffed, but the CNA's have worked long and busy hours to meet our needs, and they have done so admirably. I love my room and the friends I have made here, and I'm happy to be here. "

"Husband and I have toured this facility twice - once at an open house in 2018 and again after the pandemic lock-down in May 2021. We went the second time to have a closer look and were very impressed with what we saw. The facility is old - its been there a long time, has been expanded BUT it looked brand new! We toured the main building and looked at apartments/condos. (No interest in the cottages - we already have a house) It was clean, smelled fresh, full of smiling people and the units were up-to-date - even solar panels on the roofs. The activity calendar was overflowing! The pool is now open year round and the new fitness center is state-of-the-art. The first time we visited, they were reluctant to discuss anything medical. (we were concerned about possible future issues) but this time we had a personal tour and the guide/sales rep answered ALL our questions. They do have assisted living on the campus and you have the option of hiring private staff if you choose. We liked what we saw and heard. Its at the top of our budget but close enough to where we are to keep our current routines. We put ourselves on the wait list. "
