Adult Day Care Communities in Riverdale, NY

"My grandfather was at Beth Abraham, and it was good. They treated my grandfather really nicely. There were times that he was a little bit impatient, but I guess that’s what happens to everybody when you don’t live in your own home. The staff was very nice. I don’t have any complaints with them. The place was very clean. There’s a smell once in a while when you pass by a room, but I guess it was the people who are really in a worse condition. But in my thoughts, everything was always OK. There was one person he just didn’t really like, but I can’t even remember her name. Other than that, everybody was nice. Some of the staff even came to his viewing. Even the people who were in there were very nice and polite. For the time that he was there, I would say that he was semi-comfortable. I can’t say completely comfortable because he wasn’t happy about being there anyway because he wanted to be at home. With him it was a delicate situation because of that. The place was very bright. In some rooms, and on certain floors, there was like three beds to a room. So a person with a wheelchair was a little bit hard to maneuver around. They also have these little suites that had one person. "

"I absolutely love the workers. They care about the patients even though some don't but I understand that they are practically overwhelmed yet they do their jobs perfectly. The rehab was amazing. I loved it."

"Great service. Good food. On time tranportation (especially to the farmers market) pleasent drivers (even though I'm not always in good mood.) Steve is very nice. Walter cleans very well. Very nice staff-always smiling. Take us on so make trips. Angee (wrong spelling-i know) always helping"

"Really great hospital, the staff was very attentive and made sure I settled in okay. The doctors knew exactly what they were doing. My surgery went smoothly and I recovered fast. I was happy I came to Holy Name for my Surgery! Thank you for everything "

"I was able to visit years ago when my mother was alive. She finally had to go to skilled nursing care rather than assisted living at the Wartburg. She was able to remain home with community Medicaid and a healthcare worker from the Wartburg association. But then her medical condition declined so precipitously that at the end she had to go as an in-patient. It is an excellent place. It is related to the Lutheran Church. I know the head chaplain there very well. I've known her for many years as a colleague because I'm a clergyman too. They have independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing care, rehab, and an Alzheimer's unit. I think they are in the process of constructing a whole new building which will be for rehab. Everything is very fine. There is tremendous attention to the needs of the patients. There is also a strong sense of the faith and the church there. For example they house two communities of retired Dominican sisters in their assisted living complex, so that says an awful lot about that. "

"My site visit prior to my mom's admission convinced me that this is where she needed to be. They also have a virtual tour which adequately describes the facility. I was struck by not smelling urine permeating through the halls like in other nursing homes. I am most appreciative of the fine, caring staff that mom has been blessed with on the 6th floor. My mom is Puerto Rican and is reverting back to her roots and St. Vincent de Paul caters to a large latino population which makes mom more comfortable during her lucid moments. The compassion and the 24/7 care is priceless. Mom had been severely depressed and lived in a filthy environment and is now safe and clean and socializing. I wish i could care for her at home, but since I can't, SVDP is the next best thing. They made my painful decision less traumatizing."

"Many of the rooms have spectacular views of the Long Island Sound. There are either single or double rooms which are nicely appointed, clean and ergonomically designed for the needs of frail residents in the long time care as well as the rehab PT/OT residents. Staff was attentive and knowledgeable. Concerns addressed promptly. Active recreation team encourages resident participation. Providence Rest stands apart because of the wonderful serenity and dignity the Sisters of St. John the Baptist provide."

"Amsterdam Nursing Home was an older but excellent, very elegant, and clean place with good rehab. The staff was good, but the social work was not so good. The food was not good for my husband, but the dining room on the rehab floor looked fine. He was happy there. "

"My mom is at The New Jewish Home, Manhattan Campus. It's more of a skilled nursing facility with long-term care. They have a good high level of care. There's an outdoor area, a cafe, and Jewish services. There's a rabbi. They're very helpful with most things and they anticipate a lot of needs. Sometimes, I have to sort of ask a few times or remind them of certain things, but most of then are very attentive. The food is good. She needs soft and pureed food and they have been good about making sure that she's getting food that she can eat. They've taken the time to adjust the diet for her. There are activities. They have a social coordinator who called me to go over what activities would be good for my mom. They accept Medicare and Medicaid, so we're not paying anything for her being there."

"My wife has been a resident in the Jewish Home for the past two years. During that time I have found this facility to be first-rate in every respect. The caregivers, medical personnel, administration, and support staff are all highly experienced and extremely capable. Equally important to me, they are kind, caring people who treat the residents as though they were members of their own family. I know that my wife is getting the best possible care during this difficult time, and I would recommend the Jewish Home without reservation. "

"I had a relative at chateau after a hospital stay. She stayed for about a month. Rehab was great she was in a private room which was huge. A pleasant staff, all act professional and take pride in their jobs. "

"Bergen Regional staff was very, very kind. The coordinator, Maribel, was very, very polite. We didn't have any problems or any issues. However, I wouldn't recommend them for respite care. Maybe for a long-term care, but not for respite care. This was more of a hospitalization facility. "

"Elmhurst was beautiful, and they were caring to the seniors there. They were able to go around and not confine to one spot; it was really nice, but unfortunately my father did not have the coverage that would keep him there longer. You have a 24hr nurse station, and you have home attendants that come do your laundry and clean your room. You have books downstairs and beautiful scenery. They are friendly, caring and there were people helping with feeding some of the other people. They had two rooms on each end where it was like a living roomwhere they could sit down and watch TV, and then they had another room that was the cafeteria. I wish I could afford it, but it’s very expensive. "
