"We toured The Waterford on the Bay. It's a nice facility. I think it could work for anyone who's trying to make sure that their family is safe and comfortable and being taken care of. I saw a microwave. The stove that does not work. In other words, the stove is only for those who can really handle it on their own, but everybody eats in the dining area. The person who gave the tour was very informative. They provide meals, snacks, and everything, and they have activities. The facility was clean."

"After a while when my father wasn't able to take care after himself and us with mom working all the time, we have decided that it would be the best idea if we put him in this facility. Suffering from hard epilepsia he had some hard epilepsia attacks which were endangered his life. We searched on the web for closest and best facilities and found one of the finest available in this area. The facility is well organised for routine activities (fitness programme is awesome!). I managed to pay a few visits in durring last month and was always supprised how I the life is at full bloom. People were happy and enjoying all facilities including full time nursing service and postal. Dining rooms, kitchen, laundry are available for all residents. What i found awesome is that pet lovers are allowed to keep their pets and enjoy the touch of life. Media lounge and library are fully digitized and serves as a rewarding data base-this is what helps my father a lot, since he loved reading books.I would definately recommend this facility for our old age loved ones. "I wish I had known before sending my father into Margaret Tietz that their facility was not as their web site suggests, caring and kind with the cute little hearts. The nursing staff was unkind, the doctors were never available (it was like pulling teeth to get them to see patients), and in my father's case, I don't know why, but they didn't feel it was necessary to monitor someone as sick as dad while giving him coumadin, a blood thinner. When someone has a bad heart, bleeds easily and bruises easily, I think most would agree they should be monitored frequently. Their physical therapy was pretty good, and he even liked it, but a coumadin overdose sent him right back to the hospital. It took about 4 days to get the bleeding under control. Dad didn't have to die. Cookie-cutter medicine just doesn't work."

"The facility is clean and has a soothing environment for those residing there. My mother has been a resident there 4 years, all health care providers at Hillside Manor are caring with compassion for all their residents. My mother receives visits from a family member every day or every other day. Our visits vary in the time of day, and never have we witness any resident being mis treated, or unattended. They take extra care in providing entertainment and trips for the residents that help them maintain a good quality of life. The doctors, nurses, CNA's seem to be happy working there, and when the employees are happy, you will have happy residents. I can't say enough about the wonderful care and treatment our mother receives. If she isn't well or a health issue develops, the doctor or nurse will phone us to let us know what course of treatment will take place and to get our approval before going forward. God Bless the staff at Hillside Manor Nursing Home. "

"Good for rehab: bad for long-term. My grandmother stayed in this facility for 2 months undergoing rehab for a broken ankle. She received good, attentive care and the nurse assistants were unusually nice. There was a good activity schedule. My grandmother absolutely loved the physical therapy department because they gave her daily attention and helped her walk. But the facility itself leaves a lot to be desired. While hospitable to residents and visitors, it often has a strong smell which suggests minimal cleaning. Also, the facility is very hard to get to without a car and is practically in the middle of a highway, so if the residents want to sit outside they have to sit near the garbage cans out in front (there is no garden area or proper place to sit). My grandmother ended up needing long-term care so we moved her to a different facility. Long story short: Rego Park is fine for rehab, but not for long-term. "

"I have been in Bushwick Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing, and I didn't like it. People walk past you when you're calling them when you need help; I didn't like it at all. It's decent and clean. The only thing is that when you're sitting there by yourself and you're yelling, everyone acts like can't they hear me. These people are walking by working. They leave you in your room sitting; that's not good. I couldn't walk at the time, and it was hard for me to get to the bathroom. I wore pampers, and they just left me. They came there when they were ready. With that being said, it's always clean and everything. it is everything that's behind that makes it all bad. I went there to have physical therapy, and that was about it. The food was not for me. I'm allergic to onions, and everything they cook had onions. They really had to substitute with chicken, and then they weren't doing that right. They have lunch and all that. Breakfast was half okay, I'm allergic to onions so they had to substitute. The way I eat every day, I eat chicken. I didn't mind because I like chicken, but they could have substituted it with something else - anything. People have pizza and everything. I don't have it. Others have a sandwich and all that; so, not good. I like the way it's put together. It's clean and decent. It's just, the food and the people walking past you, are the two things that to me that are just out of place. A couple people that were working there (two or three people) walk past while I was sitting there calling them, and I was in a single room. They just kept walking past. The rest of the staff was all right. You know, few people that was alright and few people that wasn't. There were people working on the floor that are sometimes are not good at all. They have some staff members that were not all that either. You had to call and look for them. You have to get them when you needed them. I recommend they substitute the food for people who were allergic and make sure they get better staff on the floor. If you want to be on the floor working, you got to be on the floor working."

"My mom had surgery at the hospital for an inflamed gall bladder and then they found out that her coronary arteries are pretty blocked. But because she's already 90 years old they could not operate, so they took her to the Queens Blvd Extended Care. She needs care for twenty four hours a day, which we can no longer accomplish here at home. The staff is 50/50; there are some good nurses and some bad ones, which is the same in all the nursing homes. All in all, I would say that it's a pretty good place; as good as you can expect. They give her all kinds of medicines to keep her more or less alive. It's more or less a situation where they try to take care of her as best they can and she's getting adjusted to the place. "

"Right now, Regal Heights is going through COVID, so there are no visiting hours. It is a little difficult to get in touch with anybody because there's one main number, so you have to call a few times, but when you get past that, you can call the floor that my dad's on every day. You can drop off anything you want like clothes and food at the restriction area. We have video contact as well. It's a good place and it's highly recommended to me by people who were there, that's why I chose it. The outside looked pleasantly nice and fairly new, maybe 10 years old or younger. The inside looked clean and tidy, and the security was professional. We're not allowed past certain areas, so if you drop off anything, you have to make a list and you have to know which clothes you gave him and make a copy of the list for yourself. The lobby area was clean. Because there are no visiting hours, they leave a call on your phone every day after 5:00-6:00, and they give you results like if there's anybody who has COVID or who caught it, or if there's anybody who died from it unfortunately. They call you every day for that, so that's kind of informative and nice to know."

"Elmhurst was beautiful, and they were caring to the seniors there. They were able to go around and not confine to one spot; it was really nice, but unfortunately my father did not have the coverage that would keep him there longer. You have a 24hr nurse station, and you have home attendants that come do your laundry and clean your room. You have books downstairs and beautiful scenery. They are friendly, caring and there were people helping with feeding some of the other people. They had two rooms on each end where it was like a living roomwhere they could sit down and watch TV, and then they had another room that was the cafeteria. I wish I could afford it, but it’s very expensive. "

"My father was at Brooklyn Gardens Nursing and Rehab for 2 months. I liked the facility. I felt that the staff was very caring, attentive, and helpful. My dad liked the food that they served. One thing about this facility that's nice was they had an enclosed and secured outside patio area where a lot of the residents could go outside freely. They had barbecues for the residents on Wednesdays. The physical therapy was very good. Overall, it was a really good facility."
