I don't have to be involved. I am watching, but the agency takes care of everything. The agency's caregivers are compassionate. The community my father lives in complimented on how much they enjoyed the caregivers. The administration's staff always have questions or concerns and the RN checks in.

It was challenging to me because it was so expensive, so I was anxious about that, but a relief he was in a safe situation and I didn't have to be there with him 24/7. Most of the providers were excellent, there were a few that weren't at the same level, but some were really good.

You need to tell the caregivers to not criticize the home. I am only one person and I do what I can. Once we got home, I see a little lady. I see her park her car and reparked her car. She needed to be there on time. My husband has dementia and Parkinson's. I explained that he is ill and my house is dirty. She has a broom with her and is sweeping. I told here if you think this place is so dirty to get out. Touching hearts was going to send out someone else, but I told them no, it was too late and I was tired.

At that point, they were coming into the house and only a couple of caregivers would take the initiative to take Larry to the bathroom. I had to encourage the others. They didn't engage with Larry, all they wanted to do was watch TV. I asked that I have only one caregiver come. I didn't want other caregivers or for them to find people to cover. It was five days a week and there was one caregiver that I really like in 2021 all the others were so-so.

For me it was a blessing, because it took off some stress, but for her it was frustrating because she would just nap and didn't see the point in having someone watch her nap. My mom wasn't good at delegating things for them to do while she was napping. The process was easy.

I engaged this service this month to care for wife who is recovering from a year of successful cancer treatments. The chemo left her very weak and with a general mobility problem. The Touching Hearts staff that assisted her after hospitalization got her back on her feet and assisted her with her daily hygene. They were very professional in their approach and methods. What set them apart from the blow and go nursing of the hospital was the day long companionship they provided which greatly helped her recovery to her normal self. Great job, Great people!

I could not do without the services. I can't do a lot of things that I used to be able to do. For example, I can't walk very far on my own or stand very long. The laundry is in the basement, so getting up and down the stairs is difficult. The help is immeasurable. The owners are absolutely dolls.

They help her with her medicine, they get her breakfast, they get her dressed, and they make sure she's putting her hearing aids in. They take her for walk and they get her motivated to play the piano. We love the caregiver we have. She has been great.

I need help with small things and daily tasks like sweeping and doing the dishes. The caregiver was less inclined to be helpful because they didn't understand the severity of my disability. I didn't like the service I got and it was more expensive than any other service I used. They required prepayment as well.

They made the bed, made breakfast, and did some light housework for me. I would recommend them. I think the girls need some training about the equipment in the house itself. They sent a new girl every morning, and I had to spend 15 minutes showing them how to do everything, where the dishes were, and especially how to use the microwave.

I’m sure Franny from Touching Hearts would say they would never deceive anyone, but it sure didn’t feel that way to us! We contacted Touching Hearts when Mom, who suffers from Alzheimer’s, began acting erratically at her Assisted Living facility. They were threatening to have her removed if we didn’t have a caregiver with her 24x7, and ironically enough they recommended Touching Hearts (that should have been a big red flag). I was relieved when I contacted Mom’s insurance to know that, for a period of time, they did offer coverage. My sister set up the meeting and we brought Mom’s insurance information. Franny took copies and we made it very clear we were going through her insurance for this. Franny contacted us a little later and said that she required help setting up the claim with the insurance provider, but neither one of us were authorized to do that for Mom, so we decided to just be reimbursed after the fact. The request however was denied because Touching Hearts was not an in network provider. Feeling this was a mistake, I contacted Franny and I was surprised that her response was “We are not in-network with any insurance carriers, we are private pay only.” I was never told this, and had I been, I would have pulled the plug on this as soon as I could get someone else who was set up. Franny states she mentioned this to my sister, who does not recall Franny stating Touching Hearts could not be covered by insurance. And even if she did, this would be at best inappropriate as I am fiduciary POA, and she knew that, she should have been clear with me. We were very clear that we were looking for this to be part of an insurance claim, and Franny knew that was never going to happen with Touching Hearts. The service was fine, about what you would expect. Mom liked some caregivers and not others, but it certainly wasn’t anything magical where I would have preferred them over someone who can truly work with Mom’s insurance. In the end, I truly regret meeting Franny and consider working with Touching Hearts to be an extremely painful and costly mistake. I would urge others to work with their insurance instead, what can I say, we were in crisis mode with Mom, and Touching Hearts gave me no indication that this would not be covered by insurance. I will not make the mistake of trusting a caregiver again.

We were able to find a home care for my mom. That's what we are using right now. The name of the provider is Touching Hearts at Home. We chose this provider because the caregiver seems to be much more mature. We have interviewed different agencies -- some of whom have very young caregivers. Touching Hearts has a little bit more life experience. We felt they have the kind of experience we wanted. This group is very hands-on. The owners who run it are very involved with their clients. We feel like we can call them, and they get right on things and are responsive. If one of the caregivers can't be there, one of the ladies goes in their place. So we felt confident that there is always somebody on when scheduled. They do fix meals, help her with her personal care, and makes sure she takes her medication. So far we have had very good luck with them.
