We were impressed with Madison upon walking through the door. The cleanliness stood out. There was no odor whatsoever. Everyone we encountered went over and above with our Dad. He is 98 and he left there walking and strong enough to help us with his daily routine in the comfort of his own home, which was our goal. We noticed immediately every employee seemed very happy and cheerful and the residents seemed happy and were clean and dressed. We never witnessed a staff member being anything but caring, never a harsh voice to any resident. The food was mostly home cooked with a wide variety . If Dad couldn’t eat something they had it was no problem. Many times they made him something else due to his swallowing issues. Thank You to every employee at Madison and keep up the excellent care

My mother was at the nursing home of Madison Center in Morgantown. She would ring the call button and would wait, but sometimes she couldn't wait until they got to her to go to the bathroom, and that's really unacceptable. I think the staff members tried really hard, though. Some of them, in particular, were very good to my mom when they weren't there, I couldn't predict what kind of care she was going to get because some of them were not as responsive. It had to do with them being very poorly staffed, like other nursing homes in West Virginia. It makes it really hard for patients. My mom developed a decubitus ulcer while she was there. It was the first place she's ever had it, even though she's also been in rehab. She had broken ribs, but they didn't turn her enough to prevent that from happening. To me, that shouldn't even be happening anymore. That's something from early nursing days. I think it's a problem when somebody develops a decubitus ulcer because it means to me that they're not attending to it properly. There are all kinds of things that they can do now, and it just wasn't done because they didn't have time. She had a stroke before she went into the facility, and over time, it became harder and harder for her to eat, so they were giving her soft food that was all ground up, and that was not appealing. They had an outdoor space, and we'd take her out in a wheelchair around the building. There was plenty of space to walk around, and just kind of look, because the facility is kind of out in the country. I'm not aware of the activities that they have. If they did, my mom didn't do them because she probably didn't feel up to it. She had people coming in, but there was no chaplain or anybody like that, and that might have been a help to her. Social work was pretty good, though. They did what they could to try to help make things as good as possible for her. There was also a seating area inside the building where we could have sat with her, but we always just stayed in the room. We took her outside, but I'm not aware of other things happening other than the physical therapy she had and OT.

Be absolutely sure the doctor writes ALL of your in-house orders and discharge orders prior to his disappearance. They are good at leaving a lot out. Also, I was on 2L of oxygen while there; they discharged me to home without any. Said I didn't need it according to what was recorded in OT chart. Said it was recorded above 88%. Either they falsified medical records or lied because my O2 saturation was 81 - 85% while walking. They also marked on my discharge paperwork that I didn't participate in therapy, which I did. It was the primary purpose why I was sent there. Now my insurance doesn't want to pay for it. WATCH BUSINESS / MANAGEMENTS EVERY MOVE. Nurses and some nurse aides are fantastic. Therapist are pretty fantastic. Main cleaning lady is good. Meals are ok; could be a bit more filling. Aides keep up with ice water in your room; which mattered to me. My bed was comfy; room was kept clean. Bathroom is shared between 2 rooms / 4 people. Climate control could be a touchy situation if you are in the bed by the window where the heating /cooling unit is.

This is a excellent facility. Our 95 year old father was there for rehab and was able to achieve his goals in one week and return home to resume all of his activities. Due to Covid -19 precautions, visitation was limited. Screening and scheduling for visiting was handled in a timely manner. As visitors, we felt welcome and had opportunities to interact with staff and ask questions. The staff provided a nurturing environment during his time there. It was obvious to us that the employees at this facility enjoy their jobs.

Management is terrible. They will not communicate or address concerns. My loved one was injured multiple times and family was only notified once with little explanation. The administrator is evasive and will not return calls or address concerns. He seems to instruct staff to do the same. Residents are confined to one space but moved on a whim, personal items go missing, activities are limited, phone calls and visits are canceled or rescheduled and staff does not seem to know what is going on from day to day. This is especially concerning during a pandemic when family is not allowed near loved ones. The facility seems to be having a severe organization problem. Perhaps they are in over their heads with the current situation.

I have visited my grandmother on several occassions over the past year. The facility has always been clean and grams has never looked better! They have beautician services available and she has always had her hair and nails done each time that I have visited. The facility also hosts events for the family to attend with the residents several times per year. I, along with other family members, attended the Holiday event held in November 2011 and was very impressed with the meal that was served to us. The food was very good, and grams stated that they eat like that "every meal". There are many activities for her to participate in, as well as shopping excursions and bingo. Any time she has fallen or required medical attention, the staff contacts us promptly to discuss the issue. I am very pleased with the facility and the staff of the Madison.
