I like the homey feel of Izzy's Adult Family Home. When we walked in, it didn't seem like a hospital. It had some nice little plants, little things on the wall, and nice little paintings. It was decorated very well, but it wasn't auspicious. They weren't putting on like, 'Whoa, we're the best,' it was more like, 'Welcome to our home.' It was very welcoming. The person that came and talked to us was very nice. When we took Dad to it, they talked to Dad instead of talking to us because they knew Dad was the person that was going to be living there, even though they were giving him information that he didn't remember. They were respectful to him. In the other places, when we took Dad, they didn't even talk to Dad. They just dealt with us because we were going to pay them the money, that's what it felt like. Izzy's Adult Family Home was very caring. I loved how clean it was. The rooms were very clean. The bathrooms were very clean. They had different types of equipment like lifting equipment and showering equipment that we saw, and that was nice to know because Dad's going to need help being lifted. There's 24-hour care. There is a button that he pushes so that they can come and help him. Like if Dad has to go to the bathroom at night, he just pushes the button and they come and help him. There are only six people that live in the house. The kitchen was right off of the gathering area. They also have a place where they would gather to do crafts and watch TV. The kitchen was visible, so anytime that the people were in that room and the caregivers were cooking, they could see everybody, so I thought that was very nice. Everything was visible. That whole area was visible. It was just a homey feeling, like we were in somebody's house. The staff communicated everything. She told us everything. She was very open to questions and had all the answers to any of our questions. She was wonderful. They were cooking when we were there and the place smelled so good. They were having spaghetti and meatballs and French bread and a garden salad, and it looked delicious. I think it was great.
