Liberty Shores Assisted Living/Harbor House Memory Care was not too big of a place. It seems like a very friendly place, and they seem to take really good care of the people who are there. The staff is just wonderful. A lot of people who worked there had been there for a long time. The food seems to be working out well for my husband. Overall, they're well prepared and good meals for them. It's a lovely place, and they have a nice walkway all the way around and beautiful views. It's very pleasant. They're tremendously expensive, and it's quite a shock, but they were more reasonable than a lot of the places.

Liberty Shores Assisted Living has essentially the same view as our house and it faces the water, Liberty Bay. We had heard good things about it before that it had a very homey atmosphere and the people who we knew who had lived here were happy with it. So, we chose to live here, too. The apartment we have is large. It has two bedrooms (there are only two apartments that are two bedrooms, the rest of them are one bedroom or studio) and there's plenty of space. They provide three meals a day, but right now they are remodeling the kitchen, so it's more like the menu changes depending on what's working that day. They publish a monthly calendar and each day we have about five or six activities going on. So, there's always something to do if you want to do it. You don't have to do it though if you don't feel like it. The staff is very friendly. The grounds are nice and well-kept. There are hanging baskets and some people have their little dogs and cats. They've got a pretty big maintenance crew and housekeeping crew. They change our bedding and our towels once a week and they come back folded. They have a happy hour on Fridays with beer and wine.

I toured Liberty Shores Assisted Living/Harbor House Memory Care. That was the family's preferred location just because it's so close to where the family lives. It's a nice location, well kept, but my sister did not want to go into assisted living. The rooms were average size and well maintained. There was nice furniture and layout where the residents ate as well as had community activities with a large area that people seem to enjoy. It seemed to be well maintained and kept up. The staff followed through with our visits and then follow-up phone calls as well. It was a good experience. It was just not her preference.

My wife was in Liberty Shores Senior Living-Harbor House Memory Care. It was nice, I liked it. They were excellent, the care was top-notch. Her room was bigger than where she is now, but the shower was not in the room. They're right on Liberty Bay, so the scenery is gorgeous. They took them on excursions every Wednesday, but they never got off the bus to walk around or anything. They had exercise and so on. One thing about this community is that the other residents there were way further along in their dementia, than the ones where she's at now. They weren't very talkative, they were sleeping most of the time there, with where she is, she has people to sit and talk to at dinner time. I saw all the menus, I sat with her while she ate a couple of times and it was excellent. She escaped and they had to come to fix the cipher-locked door to the memory care facility. She didn't get further than the lobby, but she did get out of the memory care side. It was a very nice setting, a very lovely place, clean and neat.

While it is a lovely facility and some of the staff are caring, it is NOT ideal for anyone who is not mobile. Any concerns were met with defensiveness and sometimes rudeness (on the part of leadership). Medical caregivers noted the facility refused to provide care as prescribed. While there my mother-in-law's health and outlook both deteriorated rapidly. Don't do it!>

I found Liberty Shores to be a well managed facility with a wide variety of good tasting dining choices. Additionally the facility paid close attention to housekeeping and maintenance and had a resident oriented staff. The location and visitor parking is also very good. When asked, nursing evaluations/progress reports of residents were provided. I found the cost to be competitive with other like facilities.

Liberty Shores Assisted Living/Harbor House Memory Care has been outstanding. They provide very warm, loving care for the residents. My brother is in the Harbor House side, which is the memory care unit, and they make every effort to maintain their comfort and dignity. They provide all kinds of activities. They do a mystery drive three times a week. People get on the bus and they don't tell them where they're going. In the nice weather, they'll get on the bus and go out for lunch. They do bingo, arts and crafts, movie nights, men's talk groups, and women's talk groups. There's an abundance of activities that they do. He does not complain at all about the food and it always smells good. It's very clean, well kept, and well maintained.

Liberty Shores Assisted Living was smaller, darker, quiet, and had an older population, but it was okay. They did have offerings, and if their price was a little lower, I would give them a 4. They had a library and an area with some puzzles, but there was nobody doing anything. Most of the residents were wheelchair bound as opposed to being more mobile. They had a dining area and we saw the menu.

We visited Liberty Shores. We only went to a room, which is a very small one-room apartment where my son’s mother-in-law lives. It has a wonderful view. It has one big window that she enjoys looking out of. She has a single bed. She eats in a dining room or they would bring her meals to her. The facility is pleasant. The people are business-like. It is an OK place. It is fairly institutional though. As you’re approaching it, the outside is well landscaped and quite nice. It is in a good location. My relative is fortunate to have a water view and she does enjoy that. She is fine and content.

Liberty Shores was a very pretty place. I thought they had a good long period of excellent service. They had pretty satisfied clientele. The apartments were very pleasant -- some were upgraded, some with water fuse, some with patios, and some very pleasant. I thought they might need a little facelift, a little paint, and paper would do or a cleanup would be a good idea.

Dealing with a loved ones afflicted by severe dementia was probably one of the biggest challenges in my life thus far. After years of being the caregiver to my mother, her care and behavior became so difficult for me to manage, I felt that I had no choice but to find a professional provider. My Mom admitted to Harbor House Alzheimer's Community in Poulsbo two years ago and lived there until her death this summer. While I had feared the decision as I was convinced that no one else could give my Mom the love she so needed in her last years. I was so wrong! Harbor House staff was the best - period! Their extensive training in dementia care acrossd all employees was so excellent that even during the most challenging times of intrusive behavior, the wonderful nurses, caregivers, Activity staff, housekeepers, manager all the way to the superb Administrator honored my Mom and enabled her to live in an environment of reassurance and best care! I could not recommend them any higher! Poulsbo is fortunate to have a senior provider of such high quality - Bravo!!

I was a frequent visitor for two years when my grandmother was a resident here. She got to the point where she required more medical/personal attention than my family could provide for her, and after my parents and my aunt looked at several facilities, they chose Liberty Shores Assisted Living. The staff is top notch, and they really care about their residents. The nursing assistants were always willing to lend a hand to my grandmother, and she was really impressed with them. Most of the time, it's hard for people to regress to needing help with personal care as they age because pride gets in the way. Not once did the nursing assistants make my grandmother feel ashamed or embarrassed about her aging body. They were great at making awkward situations seem funny, and their sense of humor during my grandmother's final days really made a huge difference in her attitude and outlook on life. The facilities are gorgeous, and they are clean! Not once did I see dirty laundry reused, and the grounds are well maintained. The staff, overall, is pretty good. If they were ever feeling tired or having an off day, they never showed it to the residents. They all genuinely cared about the residents, and it showed every day. I know my family is grateful to Liberty Shores, and my parents have recommended them to their friends who have elderly parents.
