"Brookdale West Seattle was a terrific facility. It was almost brand new. They had great staff. They had lots of open spaces and 2 outdoor gathering places that were really nice. They had wonderful activities going on. The residents were very, very friendly and welcoming to us. Lindsey assisted us with the tour and she was just focused on finding the right needs from my mom and assuring us that they can provide the care she needs. She showed us studios, a 1-bedroom apartment, and a 2-bedroom apartment. We did eat there and it was very good."

"I wanted to get a sense of the feeling of living in University House. My tour with Mike was very friendly and complete. It covered various choices of living quarters, dining plans, optional elective activities, health support, the building and grounds. I even met some of the residents. Needless to say, I was most impressed."

"Brookdale Montclair Poulsbo was wonderful. I liked it. I liked everything about it, but the area that my husband was going to be in kind of made me sad. It was kind of depressing and I didn't feel that at the other places, but it might have just been the day I was there. The lady who gave the tour of the memory care was wonderful. They had a lot of good activities and things going on even while I was there and they have a nice walkway. They have a beautiful living room area and games and things. I thought it was very nice."

"I've chosen Park Vista by Bonaventure. It was very nice and very clean. The apartment was exactly what I need. It's a one-bedroom apartment with a full kitchen and a walk-in bathtub. They have studios and two bedrooms, but I just have a one-bedroom. The staff is very good. They clean your apartment once a week, do your laundry, and change your sheets. They have happy hour twice a week, an exercise room, and everything I need. They provide two meals a day."

"My mother has severe dementia, and Merrill Gardens at First Hill is able to accept both of my parents. They have a really nice balance, and it’s been going very well for my mother. It’s been amazing, so far, and I think it’s because they have a fantastic staff. They have been very gentle and very reassuring for my mom. This has been a good place for my dad, too, because his biggest concern was my mom. As for the activities for the memory care unit, they have exercises and live music almost every day and also have art activities and watch movies together. For the assisted living unit, they have more diverse activities, like cooking demonstrations. Sometimes, they’ll have people come in to talk to the residents. The food seemed good. The thing I like most about this facility is the fact that they have a very bonded and attached staff who really care about the residents. They really connect to them as individuals, which I think is really valuable. The facility is very flexible to be able to accommodate a pretty broad range of individuals. "

"My parents already moved to Liberty Place. The reason for choosing it is the friendliness of the staff. They're very caring. It shows in the way that they engage with the residents there. The food is very, very, very, very good. I took a few bites. They had a good soup. Just looking at the food that they serve other residents, it is like anything from sandwiches to even like a brisket. These are Sunday dinner-like meals. Both of my parents just keep remarking on how good the food is. It's like going to a very nice diner. Their room is clean, a good size, and has a good layout. The staff was helpful in trying to make them feel welcome and helped set up their TV, wi-fi, that kind of thing. They have been really good about assisting them with finding doctors. They go out of their way, not just caring for their medical needs, but also making sure that they integrate well into the community. They don't participate in a lot of the activities, but they do see it going on like they have bingo or a movie night. They offer activities. They have karaoke. They even do the job advertising what the events of the day are, so the residents can be apprised as to what are the options that they want to choose to participate in."

"Aegis Living Madison had absolutely stunning grounds. The building, the art, the different things around and such were very, very nice. They had a little movie theater and a lovely dining room. Anybody would enjoy living there. It was a beautiful facility. They have some lovely areas just to relax and chat or talk. I saw an interaction with someone who was leading a group in some kind of activity there. The food was very good, and the menu was impressive. The rooms that I was taken to see were very nice and beautifully done. One thing I was struck by was the beautiful art that they had on the walls, and it was really tastefully done with obvious care. For most people it's surprisingly expensive, but overall, it was an absolutely wonderful facility. The residents that I encountered seemed to be very comfortable and happy where they were. I saw someone with a couple of little dogs. I played the piano there. I had a fair amount of interaction with the guests and they seemed very clearly at home. It wasn't over the top either. It wasn't like everybody was all dressed up or anything. They were very casual."

"Northgate Plaza was lovely and yet not overdone. It's a relatively urban setting, but the grounds were lovely. They had flower beds and such. I thought how nice it was going to be to watch those flowers through the year instead of just concrete or urban scenery. It was very nicely done. It was not as luxurious as some of the others, but it was delightful and very comfortable. I saw three different layouts of rooms and I saw the effort of the person working with me. You could tell she was thinking about what she had heard me say and then was trying to match different room layouts as to how she understood that, which I really appreciated. The staff was delightful, friendly, and genuine. The food was good."

"Mom just moved to Empress Senior Living at Laurelhurst Assisted Living and Memory Care. It's a facility that was just built a few years ago, and their staff is wonderful. I spent many, many days there with my mom. They are very professional and good. The food was very good, too. In memory care, there are a lot of people who are not very high-functioning, so they don't do a whole lot of activities, but the value for the money is pretty good. It costs $6,600 a month to be in that facility, and then there are additional costs on top of that, but I think for what I looked at all over, their cost was about the same as others. I was so lucky to find that place. They had space available, and they were able to get me in. It wasn't out of reach cost for me."
