"Aegis Madison just opened in March, when we went to visit. It was very beautiful, brand new, and had several levels of care. They serve all the meals, they have medical professionals there, and they have a very caring staff, very alert to the patients' and to the residents' needs. It was affordable, too. Everything worked out very well. It was much more refined and a bit more of a luxurious place. "

"I had an in-person tour of Laurel Cove Community. It was really, really friendly. Everybody seemed to know people's names, and they chatted with each other. I liked how in the memory care, the doors open out into a hallway, and that you can't get lost getting to the activities room and eating area. I saw their activities calendar, and I actually saw one of the activities. The people were sitting around and laughing. The woman doing the tour asked them what they were doing, and they said they were talking about their childhood. Everybody was so engaged. I liked the courtyard. The rooms are big. The staff was friendly and nice. They knew the people who lived there. It was a homier feeling. The facility wasn't quite as fancy, but it's very clean and updated."

"El Dorado West seemed like a very friendly place, it had a lot of amenities, and really, the one key factor for my parents is that they know someone there so that helped them choose that location. The actual location was also key for my parents as it's near all their doctors and those kinds of things. They will be moving into their assisted living in mid-May. Their staff members are very friendly, very informative, and very helpful."

"We went to see Gencare Lifestyle Lynnwood at Scriber Gardens about a week and a half ago. It had a gym but we couldn't afford it. It's back to the money thing. It was clean though and they were friendly. They had everything my husband wanted like it was close to stores so he could get on his little scooter and take off. The staff we met seemed like she was more into selling than looking for a place that would make my husband happy. It was the assisted living that we toured that day. My husband tried the food and he liked it. The place was very clean. They have a gym, a salon and they have activities you can do every day. My husband liked where the place was and that there was a Safeway and a dollar store there so he could get to it as much as he needed to."

"All of the staff was very kind. They were quick to respond to any questions I had. They treated those living there like family(a lot of them were actually family). Surprisingly a lot of ethnic people working there, but they were all incredibly friendly and personable. "

"The reason I wouldn't go to Covenant Shores was that they charged over $5,000 if you needed nursing assistance. It was almost $5,500 a month, and I couldn't afford that. In the independent living, you buy your little apartment, and then you pay extra number of dollars for all of the facilities, usage, and diner every night. I was looking at a one-bedroom apartment with a fully built-in kitchen. I liked that it was close to Seattle, and I was not afraid of traffic. It was also close to the city where I live right now. They had almost every activity you want. They had a wood shop and a boat dock. They had a nursing facility on site -- almost a mini-hospital. They had their own bus that would take you shopping. It was a beautiful with lots of trees and green lawns with big walks. It was very nice. The food was excellent. Everybody was encouraged to exercise and eat right. Everybody was in good health. "

"Ascent Adult Family Home LLC was clean. They had a locked closet that you had to have a code to get into for the medications. The lady showed me around and she was just very nice and friendly. They were going to be getting the room ready (it wasn't ready yet) for my sister. They have to do an assessment first, so she would work with me on my sister. It's a home. From the second floor, getting to the yard in the back would be difficult for the people, but they've got a deck in the summer where people can go out onto and they have two of them. One had raised beds around the whole perimeter so that people could do gardening in it. It was comfortable-looking and it just seemed very nice. The lady I met was the owner. She lived downstairs. She was very personable and caring. They just didn't have a lot of parking, because it's in a neighborhood. So, their parking was not very good to go and visit."

"I toured their independent living section of The Watermark at Bellevue, and it's very nice and very high-end. As a matter of fact, up on the top floor, they have a penthouse there for $12,000 a month. The lower floors are cheaper. For people who like city life, it's like living in a big city where you have to pay for parking, and that's not my cup of tea. I want something more rural where I can drive in, drive out, and not have to pay for parking. I'm just more of a suburban type. It was very nice, though. I've been there twice, and their food was excellent. The facilities were very nice because they're new, so everything was perfect."

"We would give everything about Aegis Lodge a 10. Other than, sometimes when my mom needed something urgent there wasn't quite enough help. But everything else is excellent, the food, the support and care, and the people. In terms of activities, mom likes the music, they also do nails and they have bingo. She also thought the food was really good. Anything she didn't get, if she asks them for it they got it for her. They even came in and lowered the bed for mom when it was too high. They did everything about the room. Sometimes there just wasn't enough staff. I think it's hard to prepare food for 95 people, some like it healthy and some don't."
