My mom is at South Roanoke Nursing Home. It is a very nice place. It's an older facility, but it is clean. It has a good layout. It is smaller, but they are well-staffed. The staff communicates well with us. We've been there a few times, but we have been pleased because we feel like she's making some strides there. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that a lot of the people there really are enthusiastic about helping the patients, and that's a big deal. My mother loves it. She likes the people there. My mom seems to enjoy the food. She says it's good. Their therapy department has done a really good job with her in figuring out what she needs and they are focusing on that. They do day trips, bingo, they do things outside, and they do church study on Wednesdays where they have a pastor come in and he gives a sermon and then they'd say hymns after that. They have Music Day where they'll play music of that era. They also do some dress-up days for certain things.

I was very fortunate to become a rehab resident of South Roanoke. I had a private room with a nursing, nursing aid and rehab staff that was amazing and very caring. Also there was a very persistent member of activities staff that helped me become involved. I progressed and got to come home. Thank you

I went to South Roanoke Nursing Home Inc. I liked it very well. It's very personable. The administrator is wonderful. She knows every single patient there. She is the most caring individual I've ever been around. It was excellent, but because my friend was from Blacksburg, she wanted to stay in Blacksburg. It is smaller and older. They are in the process of upgrading it, but it is very clean. There are no odors at all. It's very friendly. Some very caring individuals work there. It's an excellent facility.

Under the same management since 1964, South Roanoke Nursing Home features one of the most consistent and warm staff members I have ever seen in an assisted living facility. I recently noticed, while visiting a friend in South Roanoke's nursing home, that some of the same staff members I had seen years ago when I had last visited, were still working there. I feel like this kind of dedication to one's job is what truly defines the residents' experience at South Roanoke. Knowing that the same staff had been working to assist and grow with the same patients for years and years at a time was a true wonder to me, and made me feel that if I ever find myself in an assisted living situation, I would highly consider living there. I truly feel like the staff at South Roanoke Nursing Home are almost like a closely knit family.
