"My grandparents began living at this facility several years ago. They originally bought into the place for the Independent living function when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. My grandmother still lives in the IL section; my grandfather moved to Assisted Living 18 months ago. The care was excellent. They provided activities on a daily basis, like movies, games and sometimes special concerts. They had a dining hall, or you could eat in your room. The nursing staff came around to check on him about once an hour, and they were always friendly and helpful. When his condition declined, he was moved to the Skilled Nursing part of the facility. It was still on the same property, so it was easy for my grandmother to get to. One of the CNA's there was able to take my grandfather off premises so he could be present at my engagement party and wedding. It was so nice to have such competent people working with him in his last days. I will never forget what they did for my family. Also, there is a pool, a beauty salon and a gift shop on the property. That makes it handy for my grandmother to get things done without having to go too far. "

"Valley View Retirement Community looks like a welcoming community. It's not an overly large place, but it's roomy for its size and it's very well maintained. The apartments were very well done. It's not a luxury. It's just a very comfortable apartment. Kathy was the marketing and admissions director and she did a very good job. She's very knowledgeable. She's been there 16 or 17 years so she knows the place well. The dining area was very nice, too. They have several activities. We just didn't get into that, because I do enough of my own activities without worrying about it, but they have a library and an activities room."

"I was in a hospital, and Liberty Ridge Health & Rehab was recommended to me. Their staff was very caring. The rooms in that nursing home were very nice too. They were spacious and clean. The food was not good; however, the dining room looked good. They also had the usual activities that most nursing homes have. Overall, my experience in that community was good. "

"My grandmother was a resident at this facility for 6 months until she passed away. I am a CNA and liked this facility more than the facility I trained at. It was clean and well layed out, easy to navigate. The staff were very friendly, helpful, courteous, and compassionate. The nurse was available to talk to me about my concerns and questions about my grandmother's care. I believe she was well taken care of, and the facility did not seem to me to be understaffed, as some are. They do offer rehabilitation therapy which my grandmother seemed happy with while she was participating. I would not hesitate to recommend Medical Care Center in Lynchburg to someone, if they are looking at this type of option for themselves or a loved one. "

"It's been almost a month since my 91-year-old mother passed away from lung cancer (4/22/19). This is my first opportunity to thank the entire health care team at Guggenheimer for providing a high level of care and during my mother's last six weeks, making her stay as comfortable and peaceful as possible during a very difficult period for her and the family. I personally witnessed a team of nurses, therapists and aides who showed devotion and compassion to mother's emotional and physical care as she transitioned from Guggenheimer's health an rehabilitation center to its long term care facility and, finally, to it's Hospice Center during her last days. The administration demonstrated great class allowing us to bring her pet cat for a visit so that my mother could say her heartfelt goodbye. Saying goodbye to a loved one -- especially your mother -- is a painful experience but the people at Guggenheimer helped us cope with our grief. For that, we will always be grateful. Thank you, Guggenheimer."

I recovered quickly and regained my ability to speak, walk, and use my hands Evverything that was damaged by the stroke was made whole by the Springtree team. The food was excellent and the care provided by the CNAs and Nurses was excellent! The speech Therapy , physical therapy and occupational therapy were excellent. Today seven months after the heart attack and stroke, I am living a normal life."

"The Glebe is a total care facility. Your payment covers any future assistance or nursing care that you may need. It's top notch. They had cottages, which were like homes that you can buy. All maintenance is taken care of. They had lots of activities. They had their own thrift shop, a wood shop, bikes that they can rent or take out, rooms for painting, sewing and knitting, and different restaurant options, a casual restaurant, a formal restaurant, and a bar. It's very big. They had several reading areas around the facility. The food menu was very good."

"The staff at Friendship Health North Campus was friendly, answered our questions, and seemed to interact with residents very well. The facility was clean and their accommodations were pretty common as far as what a nursing home would be. The room sizes were a little bit bigger than where my mom was, but you still had two people per room. The only thing I didn't like was if you want to visit a resident, you cannot visit them in the room, I think it's for security reasons. However, they take them on trips to different places and sometimes just for sightseeing locally in the mountains or something like that. They have an activities director that has a pretty good activities calendar and group activities for them. They also have a courtyard. The facility was just well maintained."

"We have known Friendship Manor for years because we've kind of grown up in this community since the 60's. It's a massive facility now all over the valley. The people that we talked to were excellent. They answered all our questions regarding Medicaid, the facility, and services. I can't say anything bad about the staff. The staff interacted with residents. The lady who took us around was very informative. However, the whole facility is basically a hospital floor. Residents are only allowed to have a hospital bed. They cannot bring in any chairs or recliners or anything from their home. They were well taken care of, that was obvious. It was clean, but the actual facility offered nothing as far as homeyness or being welcoming. It literally was a hospital floor that they left exactly the same and put a memory care residence in. The staff who toured us was very accommodating. She worked with our schedule, and she was extremely knowledgeable. She knew what mom would need and what they could offer. She was very helpful with Medicaid, with any of the processes there, and guided us as if we were going to need that to help supplement her being able to pay for this. Honestly, it was $8,400. We were just flabbergasted. It would have been very sad because there was nothing there: no flowers and no garden. They had a 4th-floor balcony as their outdoor area that was completely concrete, nothing inviting or welcoming at all with it. I was just very disappointed with what we saw there. We would never have considered it for her. I felt like the care level was very good though. The staff interacted with the residents. I didn't see anyone sitting alone like what you think of people doing in a nursing home in memory care. You'd kind of think of them being pushed aside. The residents in Friendship were all in various areas where they could be monitored by staff. I don't feel like there was any problem with actual care. I think they were very well taken care of."

"Our family member started out in the rehab which is the Sullivan Center. Those caregivers were WONDERFUL. We are sorry that they will be negatively impacted by this review. Fast forward to a move to long term care in the Hosier center. Our family member was neglected, talked down to and ignored. Our private nurse (who was requested to be there in the rehab after one night there by the social worker) confirmed the poor treatment. Suddenly we were not allowed to have a night nurse after we expressed our concerns to the social worker and the nurses at the Hosier center. We are taking our family member out of there after less than a week. Don't bother contacting administration, nobody will respond, they will just pass the buck."

"My 64 year old brain-injured, bipolar brother lives here and they are very patient and caring with him even though he sometimes screams at workers for the least thing that displeases him. He has been in other more upscale locations that did not tolerate his idiosyncracies. This facility is clean, the staff approachable, and the caretakers are vigilant without being oppressive. Also, the price has not increased in the 6 years he has resided there! "

"My Father stayed at Pheasant ridge for several weeks after a stay in the hospital for physical therapy. He very much enjoyed his stay there thanks to the friendly staff, especially his nurses. He was pleased with his very large room that gave him the ability to have several visitors at once. The cleaning staff did an excellent job making sure his room was always clean. And his physical therapist that worked with him was always very careful and patient with Dad during therapy sessions that he always enjoyed having. If Dad should need more nursing care in the future, Pheasant Ridge will be top on our list. Thanks again for all your help! "
