My uncle was accepted to assisted living at Culpepper Gardens during COVID. He was in his 90's and the management team and staff have been the kindest, most caring group you will ever find. The team goes above and beyond to make the family and resident feel welcome. It was the best decision we ever made and we truly believe his life was extended for years by their love and generosity towards my uncle. He loved every minute he was there and enjoyed all activities from 8AM to 8PM each and every day. There is so much hard work on the part of the staff to coordinate daily activities and notify all residents. My Uncle previously gardened at his home and the residential gardens allowed him those memories. Bible study and Sunday services were an important part of his life.Whenever we visited he had a smile from ear to ear and there are no words that would ever be enough to thank them for each day they took care of him. The apartments are a generous size and always cleaned and maintained. The non profit makes this so much ore affordable than anywhere else. Even with recent changes in management the transition and interaction with family members has been exceptional. There is no better place in the area!

My mother is at Culpepper Garden. She's in the assisted living section. It's phenomenal. They're really an excellent facility. I was a little skeptical at first when my mom had to move into assisted living, because I had heard a lot of bad reports about different people. When I went to go visit her, and every time since, the food is great, the care is great, and they love my mother. It's really like a dream come true. The staff is remarkable. They're all so kind and so caring. I couldn't feel more confident with the people that are taking care of my mother. The rooms are gorgeous. She's got a one-bedroom, a living room, a kitchen, and bathroom. It's really kept clean. They do her laundry for her, and they bathe her. It's really a beautiful apartment. It has window views. I've eaten there many times, and even the cafeteria and the food, on a scale of one to ten, it's a ten. It's like a country club. It's undergoing new management, and a lot of the staff that was there left. Because they were so great, they got better jobs, and so now they're being replaced by new people. The nursing managers got changed out and then the activities director also got replaced. The woman just started, and my brother told me that she's not as enthusiastic as the one that was there prior. They have a lot of state programs that will help fund the individual. It costs $5,000 a month for Mom to stay there, but because my mom doesn't make that, they do a lot of subsidization. I guess that's the going rate somewhere around there to get a decent facility, but it's nice that my mom was able to go there.

I have lived at Culpepper Garden Assisted Living for some time and like it very much. The apartments are sunny and comfortable and the staff are wonderful. I like having my own apartment and eating meals with other residents and going to activities. It is a good environment to live in.

The apartments are user friendly, accommodating most physical challenges with handrails in the bathrooms, emergency pull cords in the bedroom and bathroom. The staff are friendly, kind, and helpful. For someone who lived alone for many years, I had to adjust to the frequency of staff entering my apartment,,,,,out of necessity. However, this was my issue. There is excellent oversight by our Administrator who, I want to mention, isn't afraid to jump in and help with staff duties if shorthanded or, just because. Also excellent are our Director of Nursing, Serice Coordinator, and Activities Director. And, we have a chef who is willing to listen to the residents' wants and tries to be flexible. The residents have daily access to various activities or entertainment. Birthdays are acknowledged; as well as main holidays. Lastly, there is a residents' meeting the last Wednesday of every month where everyone has a chance to voice concerns, needs or suggestions to the Administrator or Chef or directors after they have given any reports they may have.

I moved here to Culpepper Garden Senior Living (Independent) in Nov 2020. I was so impressed. Most facilities give Senior Citizens below standard of living. This place with recent renovations is bar-none, outstanding. Everything is new. We have a beautiful lobby, plenty of free parking, transportation if you want to take the community bus to nearby stores, cafeteria services, large mail room, front desk 24-hour concierge service. Clinic, hair salon, business center and more. There are no bugs, they keep it clean. Laundry newly renovated on each floor. We follow Covid-19 CDC Guidelines too. I love it here. Its extremely quiet. You'd have to see it to really understand the magnificent job they've done here. Residents are friendly. They make a calendar of things to do.

Independent Living only - (not relevent to AL) A new resident - wish I had waited to move in. Renovations very noisy 7AM to 7PM Renovations very ditry 24/7. Dust everywhere. Unheated lobbies and hallways on all floors. Overnight security door broken for weeks (anyone can enter if front desk staff if absent) Overall, looks great on paper. Seems like all staff is in training - but they do try to help. - if possible, wait a while before moving in.

My Mother moved up to VA from TN about 4 years ago due to her Parkinson's Disease. At first, she was sad to miss her family and neighbors... but, in no time Mom met wonderful new friends and was excited about the wide array of fun and interesting activities provided every day at Culpepper. She particularly enjoyed the young children's groups who came to sing and other musical events. I was impressed by the kindness and competence of the staff and their many services. Sometimes I just drop by to enjoy the great movies and the parties and, I always like to chat with folks there. Culpepper Garden is a clean, kind and unpretentious home for my Mom and I'm so grateful she's there.

My Mother is in the Assisted Living building at Culpepper Garden. The staff is very caring, especially as my Mother's health is declining. Mary Van Wie, the director, keeps me informed on my Mother and any health concerns. It has been comforting to our family to know that our Mother is in a place that truly is concerned for her.

My aunt is in Culpepper Garden. They take pretty good care of her. I had a problem recently over a plug-in in her room which was not functioning properly and I let them know about it and it got corrected. They have church functions and various things. They have activities and you see even them advertised on the elevator. She complains about the food because she gets a lot of pasta, but she's eating very well. They make sure to fill their coffee or tea cups and they wait on them very nicely. Everybody seems to enjoy the food. The staff seems to be caring and the place looks clean.

I’ve had my relative placed at Culpepper Garden. It was an old hospital where they converted all the rooms into efficiencies and a couple of 2-bedrooms. The inside lobby is big and nicely done. There are plenty of activities for them to do. There were more than a few areas for them to congregate and enjoy watching TV together. There is a little setting outside that’s like a little bench area. They have a few clients so far. The staff has been helpful and nice.
