My sister-in-law is doing good at Life Care Center of Columbia. The staff has kept me informed, and I had one thing that happened and they corrected it very quickly. They have invited us all for Thanksgiving dinner. She says regarding the food, three days are good, and two days are not as good. They play bingo, and she was doing exercises, but she's gone into the long-term care, and it's different over there. I don't think they take her to the exercise room, but they still go to bingo and painting. They have quite a bit of activities for the patients. The room she's in now is good. It's an older establishment, so some things are scratched up, but it's really good. They keep it clean. Every time I've been there it's clean and does not have an odor. She goes to the birdcage and watches the birds, and they have an open area that we can go down and visit her that maybe six or seven of us could go at one time, and they would bring her in that room and they've been very accommodating with me when I had to have more than three people there. They provide transportation, but she has not had to use it yet. I've had one meeting down there with all the nurses and the doctor. I have another schedule in about two weeks.

The loving care our Dad receives at LifeCare is topnotch!!!! The administrative and nursing staffing team go out of their way to ensure his every need is taken care of. We were truly blessed to find such a caring team to take care of our Dad when we were no longer able to support his disability. Thank you! God bless you!!!!!!!!!!

If your patient is mobile, its a great place. if they are bed ridden and helpless, buy your plot, it won't be long. In 2 weeks, my patient was taken by ambulance to the hospital in critical condition 3 times from the lack of care. She was paralyzed and no one helped her to eat, in fact they always left the food tray and water completely out of her reach. She was completely dehydrated and in renal failure after just 4 days, followed by 3 other life and death trips in a grand total of 2 weeks. Her family finally took her home to die at least in comfort. I do not recommend them for helpless people at the mercy of someone who does not care, or for a center that refuses to adequately staff a facility to assure good care. But they sure did make it pretty!

When you walk into the facility it can see that its a nice clean atmosphere nice smell not like other facilities I have been into. I like the fact it has the bird cage in which residents/family can sit as well as the daily activities provided. I do like the fact they are so close to the hospital and many other medical facilities. Therapy department is great and well trained. On the other hand this facility has many down falls. First off I was not greeted upon entering the building. Some of the food seems to be ok but I noticed they serve the same things every week and a lot of times snacks are not available if they are its usually just crackers or cookies nothing nutritious or that would keep you full especially in such a long weight from dinner (which is around 5pm until breakfast around 7:30am). As I visited with the resident I over heard many nurses as well as techs complaining about being short staffed and not being able to complete their work. Over my next few visits I watched to see if I could notice what they were talking about and I witnessed a call light come on across the hall it took someone 7 minutes until it was answered then was told they had to find help in order to do what they needed after 10 minutes the light was on again still nobody to come to help the resident. As this was happening many employees walked right past this light and did not attempt to answer it. I see this situation very often as well as other situations that does back up the fact that they are short staffed, no team work, and very unorganized. I was actually glad when we was discharged because now I know my family member is in good hand wherefore them being there I had worry if they was being neglected.

Life Care Center has 24-hour staff at all times. They also have RN's staff and that was I was looking for. They either have single or double room. It's spacious and well ventilated. They have lot of activities; they don’t just sit in their rooms. I think it’s a wonderful place. I was able to eat there and it's very good. Their dining room is very big and spacious.

My mother-in-law was in a rehab in Life Care Center. She loved it there. She even wanted to stay there. The facility was very attractive and beautiful. It also smelled clean. They were always cleaning the place. The staff was awesome. The food was good. She was in a room with another person. She had physical therapy which she thoroughly enjoyed. Her Medicare only paid for her to be there for 21 days. However, she needed to stay there for another two to three months because they said she needed more rehab. When we started self-paying, we were given a very good reduced rate. They were just awesome.

This facility was excellent. Walking down the halls I encountered satisfied or happy appearing residents, and pleasant, friendly staff. The halls were very clean and the rooms that I glanced into were also clean and well organized. While I was there breakfast was being served and the meals smelled wonderful and looked great. In the halls were huge glass bird houses filled with colorful birds and there were many windows to look out of, though I must say the view wasn't breathtaking. I also liked the fact that the facility is very close to the hospital/ER and many outpatient facilities. The only real complaint that I had was that the resident's rooms were not particularly spacious (remember a dorm room?) and residents were generally two per room.
