My mother was in New Haven at Little River for a month. It's a beautiful place and the staff was friendly. But I don't think they were as attentive to her needs as I was hoping they would be. She was in respite care and wasn't able to leave her room, so she was very lonely and bored. She had a spacious room, it was furnished with a bed and a chair, it was kinda like a hotel room. It had a large bathroom and a large walk-in closet. They also have a swimming pool and lots of activities, though she wasn't physically able to participate in anything, hairdressing comes, and they do bingo. They have a lot of activities, they have happy hour, and a lot of seniors seem to like that. They have a pool area and they have plenty of outdoor spaces with rocking chairs for the residents and patios.

I like that the admission person at New Haven at Little River was very personable. She worked hard to get everything we would need in place for my father. They supply appliances, and my parents are going into a two-bedroom-two-bath apartment that has all the features of a kitchen like a stove, a refrigerator, a microwave, and all that stuff. They have a washer and dryer. The staff who gave the tour was awesome. They provide three hot meals a day, and the set-up is more like restaurant style so that when you sit down, someone comes and waits on you and serves the food to you. The building is beautiful. They keep it very clean.

I went to New Haven at Little River. It was a smaller place. And they emphasized that since they were a smaller place, besides knowing everybody by name, they knew everybody. They didn't say, oh, it's the lady in 405, go check her out. They knew you exactly by name. The staff was very good. Everybody knew what they were doing. But they're just a little too expensive for the amount of money I have coming. The building was clean and the tour was good.

We visited this facility before we placed Mom in another facility in Shallotte (we made a mistake, looking to move Mom). This facility has a ton of amenities and a lot of activities, nursing is great, and great tasting food. Only negative, they don’t provide furniture like North Carolina facilities provided bed, nightstand and chair. Piece of mind is the most important and New Haven gives us a better piece of mind more than the Assisted Living in Shallotte.

We visited this facility over this past weekend. It had a lot of activities and energy within this facility. The front desk person was friendly and only waited a short time to take a tour. Rooms were big, they had studio apartments with were twice as big as Coastal Pointe’s biggest studio room and less money per month. This facility also have a 1-bedrooms and 2-bedrooms. A lot of energy and activities going on during a weekend. Bringing the rest of the family back to see this place.

The recent changes in the community management have caused everything to go down hill. The rude, belligerent staff members run the community. The previous Director left and now there is a Director in there, Holley who has zero knowledge or experience. She has all of her cronies working with her. Her decisions are terrible for the community. The food is terrible and they put the worst cook on the staff in the culinary director position. Mass exodus will be occurring. It used to be a great place. It has gone way down hill. The building is nice, though it is lonely here. No one seems to know what they are doing.

My mother in law had an appointment last Tuesday June 27th at 11am to tour the facility with her husband and my husband along with myself. Something came up and she could not make it so she asked that my husband and I go in her place. My husband contacted Holly first thing Monday morning, June 26th to let her know, which he did not speak to her but left a voicemail. Holly never contacted him back. On Tuesday June 27th my husband and I showed up to New Haven 10 minutes early for the appointment that was scheduled at 11am. Holly was unavailable but would be there, which was fine because we were early. We continued to wait till 11:25, we decided that with the lack of concern for a potential tenant that was a good sign to leave. We have found that another facility down Highway 9, in Little River has the concern and care needed for her and her husband.

My Aunt is at this community. She had a fall just after 5pm Monday night. She pulled the call bell in her bathroom. The sales person sold my cousin on the fact that if someone pulls a call bell, staff either in Independent or staff from Assisted Living would answer the call bell. My Aunt laid on that floor for Five hours, she crawled to her phone in the living room with a broken hip (hospital diagnosed it) to call her daughter and 911. Our family has called and emailed the Executive Director, she has ghosted us. Apparently this is not the first time this has happened in the Independent Living according to several staff members at New Haven. They were so fast to build this building, that they never attached the call bell systems to the front desk.

New Haven at Little River was a very nice place. We toured the independent living and we talked about how you move up to more assisted care. The whole place was exceptionally clean. My tour person was the director of sales, and she was extremely nice, helpful, and answered all my questions. I toured the dining room and looked at the menu. She prepared a whole package for me, which has all the information. I was interested mostly in a type of place that would let you have a pet and they do. I saw one of the little doggies running down the hall greeting everybody, which was very nice. It was just a pleasant experience. I went into the two-bedroom, two-bath unit, which would be perfect for what I will need. Their dining room menus were most appropriate for the kinds of food we eat and then you have your all- the-time menu, so it was very well received by me. They had everything, a swimming pool, and a pool table, and they've just put in a new outdoor firepit with rocking chairs and stuff sitting all around it. They have a card room, Bridge groups, and all kinds of card groups. The activities seemed fine. New Haven appeared to be very organized. I was very happy with what I saw.

We did a tour of New Haven at Little River. We wrote everything up and it was so positive. We had no expectations. Absolutely everything was new to us. They were very pleasant, and we were very happy with the information they gave us. The facility is wonderful. It's clean, it's brand new. The staff was very helpful. They answered all of our questions, took us for a lovely trip, and we saw everything that there was to see. The residents who are already in there were all very pleasant. They looked very happy and engaged. They were friendly with seeing us going on our tour. It was easy in and out access to the facility from the highway. They have a very large plot of land that they plan on extending walk paths through and little garden things out into the woods from their cleared area. It looks very pleasant. I like their financial performance. You go in as an independent person. There is a fee to get in, but then it's a monthly rental. There are no long-term contracts with them. When you're there, if you then need assisted living, they just sort of slide you over to the assisted living. If you get to the point where you need memory care, they slide you into memory care. There are no major issues, and they will service you wherever you are on the property. There is absolutely no loss of anything because we haven't invested $200,000 to get in there. We just give them 45 days' notice, and we can leave, and everybody's happy. There were zero issues with them whatsoever. There was nothing disappointing. There was nothing unpleasant. They didn't leave any questions unanswered. I did see the menu and it looked good. There was a couple that was eating while we were there, it looked quite fine. We didn't try the food. We didn't have the opportunity; we were there about 9:30 in the morning.

My mom's only been at New Haven at Little River a month and a week now. She's in memory care and it's exceptionally clean, has no smell, and the people are extraordinarily friendly. When she first went there, she was placed in independent care so she had her own private room. Right now, she's in memory care and the rooms are set up to be for two patients but because they don't have enough people now, she's just the only one in the room. It's a pretty big room. The staff is really friendly and very professional. They would just do anything for you and they've really worked well with my mother. Their food is excellent and they have 3 separate dining areas. My mom dines in the memory care one right now. She really likes the food. I've been in one of the dining areas before when she was still on the other side and had lunch with her there. I really enjoyed it. They have 2 different kinds of activities, in the morning and after breakfast. They used to have 2 activities in the afternoon, after dinner, at the independent living side. Now, in the area she's in, they have 1 in the morning and 1 in the afternoon. They have bingo and they have a large movie room full of recliners, where you could go in and watch a large TV. In the little hallway where she was for the first time, they had a television, a pool table, and chairs in the locker place just off to the side. Each person has a bathroom in their room, but they have plenty of bathrooms all through the facility. I like it because they have someone at a desk 24-7 and after 8 o'clock. The doors are locked, but they give anyone who's leaving a code so you can get back in. They're really good because they do your temperature and they write it down. They have a book where you put the time you came there, who you came to see and what time you leave. As far as the safety measures, I'm really pleased with that.

New Haven at Little River was great. Their bedrooms were very nice. We liked them. We liked the layout. It was the first one we saw, and we sort of fell in love with them. It's closer to doctors and to where we live now. Their menus are listed, and you can go up and order what you want, which we liked. If you had a preference to something, you could order it special, and that we liked. We only saw one person, and she was very nice, and helpful. I can't say any more about anybody else.

New Haven at Little River is a brand new facility. They just opened their assisted living in March while the facility has only been open since January. It's fresh, clean, modern, and elegant. It is like a resort for seniors. The lady that toured us was fantastic. She reassured us and answered all our questions. Everything was gorgeous. My mother is going to stay in a room that has never been used. We've chosen a studio for her. It's very roomy with enormous bathrooms and all set up for easy access. It's got a great big walk-in closet, a very roomy bedroom, and she happens to have one that overlooks the pool. They have all the regular amenities too. They have the game rooms, an amazing activity schedule (which includes happy hours on Monday through Saturday to mingle together), and exercises every morning. It's perfect for my mother. Some other seniors are just waiting for their life to be over, but the seniors at New Haven at Little River want to live some more. They could also choose to do whatever they want. They could do stretching and exercises every morning, bingo, movie nights, and outings. Everything is included. Their dining area is a restaurant style, and the menu is written down for the month. They have choices of two different things every day. It's served to them at their table with linens, silverware, and no paper napkins. It's very classy. We actually went back to their happy hour, and they let us retour the facility because my sister-in-law came. Everybody was very friendly, helpful, and very professional.

New Haven at Little River is brand new; it just opened. The facilities look lovely. The apartments are nice, and they have a beautiful dining room. They seem to offer all the services that you could possibly want. It's in a good location. The staff who assisted us during the visit was very informative, answered all the questions, and made me feel comfortable that that it would be a place that I could choose to live. Their amenities seem to be adequate. Any of the services you would want such as a beauty parlor or gym are available. The staff who gave the tour is excellent. It's brand new and looks lovely.

New Haven at Little River was the closest one to us. It had all the amenities. The layout was very nice, and it's very central to shopping. The apartments were a little bit smaller. It has a full-sized kitchen and all, but she just liked the other place better. They have a pool, and the living atmosphere was very, very nice.

New Haven at Little River is wonderful. Everybody's nice so far. The physical appearance of the facility is great. They treat you like a human being, and they don't take advantage of you. It's clean, modern looking, and homey. The staff is wonderful. I think it's a good value for the money. The food is good, and they give you good portions. We have a beauty salon, a barber shop, and a place where you cut your toenails, but I haven't tried that yet. I've only been here since the eighteenth, but they do a good job. I'm satisfied. I like the size of my room; it's very adequate.
