I arrived for rehab after dark, and brought in through a spare (?) room or cluttered dining room. Dingy old furnishings with a small TV on top of an old small dresser. No bathroom. Call bell did not work and was told to call the front desk via phone! Hallway was empty, not the usual traffic you think you would see in a nursing/rehab facility. No choice of food and i one word it was horrible . I was there for 3 days and had PT once in my room. Wanted to leave the 1st day but talked me into staying but by 3rd day I left. I refer to it as the Bates Home

Coming from the hospital, I was there for 2 days, with helpful PT/OT, enabling me to return home. Of course the Administrative staff disagreed and I released my self (AMA). Therefore they held as hostage the medications I had been receiving, releasing them only after the intervention of my PCP. In addition the quality of the facilities varies. I had an antiquated room with bathroom down the hall, and one dim overhead light, not controllable at the bedside, The bed was almost as old as I am, controlled by a crank; the patient could not change the height or position of the bed. Water was delivered only by request, warm, no ice. As a rehab patient, I needed sleep. Instead, I was located next to patients with dementia, shouting through the evening.

I visited this facility several times. My fiance works here. It's a mediocre facility. Though I must say it's better than some I have seen. There are of course those staff members that don't really care, but there are a number who DO care and will take better care of the ones that get neglected by some of the lazier CNA's. There are only a handful of CNA's that really do a good job, and the majority do an okay job. It's in no way an ideal living condition, but, again, it's still better than a lot of places. The residents all receive good care, they are clean and taken care of. The facility is rather clean, of course it's not spotless ilke a hospital, but it stays clean. There is a good kitchen staff and a variety of foods for the residents. Soaps, towels, diapers, brushes etc. I must mention the fall rate at this facility. Not so much that there are a ton of falls, but the nurses here are very good. They report every 'fall' (which in a nursing home even if they sit down on the floor it's a 'fall'). There have been a few major accidents in the last year, requiring a state audit and resulting in several lawsuits, but the place remains open and running smoothly.I rate it a 4 and not a 3 because I know the work my fianc̩ does, and she is an excellent care giver. There are rarely falls on her shift, the residents are always calm when she's there.(for a nursing home that is) Overall it's a good place. Not top notch, but much above the average nursing home.
