I'm in assisted living at Avamere at Hermiston. It's a great-big place, and I'm very happy here. I have a studio, and it's very big. The people here are so nice, sweet, fun loving, they give time to you, and they're professional. I love it here. The food is generally pretty excellent. I have to be at a particular weight, so I can't eat much of the food, but it's very good. I'm proud of the place. It's really very good. We have activities, although we're on lockdown. The activities director shops for us on Wednesdays. She helped me put food and groceries away when I first moved in. She's been very helpful and takes time to talk to me. I haven't done any actual activities because I've only been here three weeks, and I'm still getting organized, so I don't know what kind of activities she does on lockdown. The administrator there gave me the most time and most information, and that was so helpful.

The last time I talked to them, the secretary said she would talk to the manager, and she never called me back. I'd been there at Emeritus at Hermiston Terrace for a while, but they never said why they wouldn’t take me back. Then they said I needed too much care. I liked it there. I like the houses; they were pleasant. They have everything there. The room comes with a refrigerator and a microwave, but I have to bring my own bed. It was really nice, and they're good. It's better than a nursing home because you have more freedom. The building itself is just fine. It’s just the staff and the manager there I didn’t care for. They told me that since I’m on Medicare, that I needed to ask for more help, and I said I didn’t need it. They expected me to ask for more help. I thought they were there in case I needed help, but they said I shouldn’t be doing things by myself, so I understood. There were perks and everything there. They had a lot of activities, and it was a good place.

Hermiston Terrace is very clean, the staff are kind and show to be genuine and take interest in the residents. They are patient and converse with them. My Father is very happy and well cared for there. Our family couldn’t be happier with the way he is doing. He has friends there and others can visit as they wish. Dad seems very content.

The facilities at Hermiston Terrace were very nice and the staff was very polite. The decision where to have my Uncle relocate was a very difficult one. They offered some very good programs to help keep the residents active and help them enjoy various hobbies. The staff seemed to take a genuine interest in the residents and were patient and willing to converse with them. However, we did not choose this facility due to differences in prices. The other facility we chose offered each of these things with a slightly lower cost and better location (for us). In the end, looking back now, we would have been better off choosing Hermiston Terrace. There were some issues that arose due to my Uncle's medical condition that was not handled well by the other facility. I've visited with other people who's relatives had similar conditions and were staying at Hermiston Terrace and they did not have the same issues.
